1937 Mercedes 540 K Spezial Roadster vendido por perto de 10 milhões de dólares em Monterey

The recently RM Auctions event at Monterey witnessed the sale of a very special Mercedes 540 K Spezial Roadster, with the hammer dropping at no less than $9,680,000. This was due to the fact that few of the Spezial Roadsters were built in this most desirable configuration: the high door, long tail, covered rear spare cars with factory left-hand drive.

It is believed only three are known to exist, and this particular chassis was first honored by First in Class and “Best Mercedes” at Pebble Beach in 2004, while last year it managed to win the Best of Show award and “Best Mercedes” at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.

The example in question was ordered new by the factory branch in Buenos Aires for S. Mastro & Cia Aguirre of Buenos Aires, Argentina, owners of a prestigious clothing store, on January 5th, 1937. The ar remained in Argentina for many years, into the 1960s, until it was discovered by Bob Morgan of New York and exported to the United States.

Since then, the car has been restored several times, and received a recent inspection from two veteran experts from Mercedes-Benz Classic. Following this inspection, they were able to conclude that in their expert opinion, the car’s engine is original to the chassis, while the transmission number indicates that it is not original to this car but is of the correct type.

“Its meticulous restoration will give its new owner the complete experience of driving a 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540 K with the most desirable and attractive coachwork ever created for this chassis – perhaps for any chassis in history. Its condition is impeccable, its style grand, its presence magnificent and its provenance pristine. Quite simply, this is automotive artwork at its finest,” RM Auctions says.

BRABUS B25 S Cabrio Mercedes E Class
BRABUS released today the images of the B25 S Cabrio, which is based on the latest generation Mercedes E Class convertible. The German power house did not disclose the details of the new aftermarket program, but we assume they'll premiere it at the Frankfurt auto show next month. Early indications say that the BRABUS B25 S Cabrio Mercedes E Class will output 240 hp and 370 Nm of torque.

From what can be seen in the images released by Brabus, the B25 S Cabrio will feature the tuner's body kit for the 2012 E Class. the aerodynamics pack includes a new front bumper with LED daytime running lights, new front fenders with large air vents for cooling the brakes, and a new rear bumper with a discreet integrated diffuser.
Brabus also gave their B25 S Cabrio a new exhaust system, with two double tailpipes, left and right, that we bet offers quite a soundtrack.

The BRABUS B25 S Cabrio program also seem to offer various interior upgrades for Merc's latest generation E Class. The car has a new leather interior, branded with the tuner's logo.

Brabus B50 520 2011 Mercedes CL
Brabus released today the images of the B50-520 Coupe 4-Matic aftermarket program for the latest generation 2011 Mercedes CL. The Brabus B50-520 is based on the CL500 version of the 2011 Mercedes CL Class, which, as its name implies, develops 520 hp. Brabus did not yet disclose the details of their 2011 Mercedes CL program, but we bet they will launch it in Frankfurt next month. the standard 2011 CL500 has a 4.6 liters V8 biturbo engine that has an output of "only" 435 hp and 700 Nm. We're sure the Brabus also has more torque than that.

Even though Brabus still keeps the details of the B50-520 a secret, we can make a few observations. Their version of the 2011 CL500 has a new aerodynamics kit, which includes new skirts for
the front bumper, a rear boot spoiler and a rear apron. The Brabus B50-520 2011 Mercedes CL also comes with a new four tail pipe exhaust system and huge black light alloy wheels.

At the interior, Brabus fitted the Mercedes CL500 with a new steering wheel, a new leather upholstery' aluminum sport pedals, and a new roof liner.

Novo protótipo em Frankfurt: Mercedes -Benz F 125!

Parece que a MB vai revelar um novo protótipo eléctrico com zero emissões. Ainda não há imagens nem specs, mas há suspeitas de que o carro não será um citadino, ao invés disso, abrirá caminho para um novo conceito de prestígio para veículos maiores. Será uma antevisão do novo S?

Six Mercedes models will get their official debut on local turf at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show with everything from the new B-Class, to the C63 AMG Coupé Black Series and a new concept the F 125!. The Mercedes B-Class has already been previewed with pics and details, but it will be interesting to check it out in person and see where Mercedes can take the compact MPV segment.

The new Mercedes B-Class will also be our chance to check out the MFA platform which will be the basis for future front-wheel drive models like the A-Class. On a more exotic front but with a dash of practicality is Mercedes’ first diesel spider, the SLK 250 CDI.

The model brings a 2.1-litre twinturbo diesel engine to the Mercedes SLK, which gets 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It will carve out an ecological space in the Mercedes spider range, as at the other end of the scale the new SLK 55 AMG model also gets its official release.

Along the lines of exclusive sportiness is also the Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé Black Series model with more horsepower on display at 517 hp. For another contrast there will be the Mercedes Viano Vision Pearl which is a study in luxury interiors. It plays on the juxtaposition of white leather and dark wooden trim in a nautical-inspired piece complete with Bang&Olufsen hi-fi system.

Finally the Mercedes F 125! concept is a zero emissions concept for the luxury sector, but no pics are available yet so we don’t even know what kind of a car it is. Mercedes says it forges a new path for introducing the concept of prestige to large, luxury vehicles so that could mean anything. We’re guessing not an electric citycar at this stage.

2012 Brabus Rocket Rendering Released

Now that the second generation of the CLS is among us, it is time for aftermarket developers to start offering modification packages for the four-door coupe.

However, when talking about CLS tuning projects, there is one developments that's in a class of its own: the Brabus Rocket.

Well, there are various rumors which indicate the Brabus is currently playing with CLS The Second in order to give us the next Rocket. Since we're talking about such a special car, waiting can literally be painful.

Fortunately, we now have a painkiller, in the form of the adjacent rendering, which gives us an idea of what the new Rocket could look like. Thanks to PS-Garage, we can now feast our eyes with what might just be the world's fastest four-door coupe - this was the title received by the original Rocket, when it came to the world in 2005.

Before we end this story, we'll remind you what the "old" Rocked packs: the driver gets to punish the road with 730 hp and 810 lb-ft (1,100) Nm of torque. The torque actually had to be electronically limited, with the original figure being 970 lb-ft (1,320 Nm).

All this power means that the vehicle could hit 62 mpg from a standing start in 4 seconds flat, while the 0 to 124 mph (200 km/h) sprint was covered in 10.5 seconds. As for the top speed, this sits at 227.2 mph (365.7 km/h), being electronically limited to 220 mph (350 km/h).

Si eres de los que buscan algo más que un equipo de audio con puerto USB cuando estás mirando un coche nuevo, posiblemente estarás al corriente de las enormes inversiones que están realizando Ford, GMy Toyota para mejorar sus centros multimedia, que ya ofrecen soporte para aplicaciones, lectura de noticias desde fuentes RSS, e incluso la posibilidad de reservar entradas de cine o mesa en el restaurante desde la pantalla táctil de la consola central. BMW y Audi, que estaban mirando hacia otro lado cuando la revolución telemática estalló en Estados Unidos, se han puesto las pilas rápidamente lanzando sistemas avanzados en colaboración con firmas como NVIDIA, y Daimler, que no hace mucho se sumó a esta carrera con el fin de alcanzar nuevos clientes, piensa empezar a defenderse de la competencia con el lanzamiento de los nuevos Clase A y B.

Consciente de que los conductores jóvenes valoran muy positivamente la presencia de centros multimedia conectados a internet, y con la reinvención del Clase A como compacto al estilo BMW Serie 1 como telón de fondo, Mercedes ya está avanzando algunas de las funciones que incorporarán sus futuros sistemas telemáticos, usando no de forma casual el Concept A-Class. Hay que decir que Mercedes no sólo está cuidando el software, dado que hasta donde llegamos, es el único fabricante del mundo que ofrece navegadores con actualizaciones de hardware, pudiendo sustituir tu antigua unidad por otra más nueva y potente con sólo cambiar un pequeño módulo.

Ducati Diavel AMG Special Edition em Frankfurt

Não tem bem a ver com a MB, mas aqui fica, a Ducati Diavel AMG Special Edition, uma edição especial baseada na Diavel Carbon vai-se apresentar em Frankfurt com jantes exclusivas para esta versão, tendo também um assento e capas de escape próprios com o logótipo AMG. A mota conta também com riscas e quadro na cor Diamond White Bright, contrastando com as jantes e a fibra de carbono matte dos restantes componentes que se vêem na mota. A sigla AMG está também gravada a laser no tubo de escape e nos dois lados do depósito de gasolina. Outros itens de design exclusivo a acompanhar a mota são um blusão e capacete.
A edição especial estará à venda em 2012, podendo ser encomendadas já a partir da data do Salão de Frankfurt.
