Originalmente Colocado por BLADERUNNER Ver PostEntão foi erro da fonte que referia 6L e 4L para o 2.0i. O 28i é realmente um 2.0 litros de 4 cilindros biturbo.

Twin Scroll Turbo System Design - Modified Magazine
Twin-Scroll Turbo System Design Explained
Retirado da página anterior:
Twin-scroll turbo system design addresses many of the shortcomings of single-scroll turbo systems by separating those cylinders whose exhaust gas pulses interfere with each other. Similar in concept to pairing cylinders on race headers for normally aspirated engines, twin-scroll design pairs cylinders to one side of the turbine inlet such that the kinetic energy from the exhaust gases is recovered more efficiently by the turbine. For example, if a four-cylinder engine’s firing sequence is 1-3-4-2, cylinder 1 is ending its expansion stroke and opening its exhaust valves while cylinder 2 still has its exhaust valves open (while in its overlap period, where both the intake and exhaust valves are partially open at the same time). In a single-scroll or undivided manifold, the exhaust gas pressure pulse from cylinder 1 is therefore going to interfere with cylinder 2′s ability to expel its exhaust gases, rather than delivering it undisturbed to the turbo’s turbine the way a twin-scroll system allows.
The result of the superior scavenging effect from a twin-scroll design is better pressure distribution in the exhaust ports and more efficient delivery of exhaust gas energy to the turbocharger’s turbine. This in turn allows greater valve overlap, resulting in an improved quality and quantity of the air charge entering each cylinder. In fact, with more valve overlap, the scavenging effect of the exhaust flow can literally draw more air in on the intake side while drawing out the last of the low-pressure exhaust gases, helping pack each cylinder with a denser and purer air charge. And as we all know, a denser and purer air charge means stronger combustion and more power, and more power is good!
But the benefits of twin-scroll design don’t end there. With its greater volumetric efficiency and stronger scavenging effect, higher ignition delay can be used, which helps keep peak temperature in the cylinders down. Since cooler cylinder temperatures and lower exhaust gas temperatures allows for a leaner air/fuel ratio, twin-scroll turbo design has been shown to increase turbine efficiency by 7-8 percent and result in fuel efficiency improvements as high as 5 percent.

BMW autonomous driving system announced
Enables the car to pass slower vehicles
BMW has released new details about their autonomous driving system called ConnectedDrive Connect (CDC).
The specifics are fairly technical, but the system works on motorways by pinpointing the car's position and the location of all surrounding objects with the assistance of GPS, radar, lidar, ultra sound and video cameras.
Once everything has been determined, CDC controls the braking and acceleration like an advanced cruise control system. However, when the car senses it is behind a slowpoke, the sensors look for an open lane where it can safely merge at speeds up to 130 km/h (81 mph). If an opening is found, the system will steer the vehicle into that lane, pass the slower vehicle and return to its original lane.
ConnectedDrive Connect is still several years away from showing up in production models, but engineers have already logged 5,000 km (3,107 miles) of testing.

Most car manufacturers have already adopted the use of LED (light-emitting diode) technology for the lights on their new models – at first for the rear and subsequently for the front daytime running lights. Premium carmakers are even offering full LED headlamps on some of their models, like BMW in its new 6-Series coupe and convertible.
But the Bavarian firm's engineers didn’t put out the lights (pun intended) and head home after their latest achievement. Instead they started working on what they say is the next logical step in car light technology: laser.
Laser lighting has many advantages. By definition, it is radically different from sunlight and various existing types of artificial lighting. That’s because it’s monochromatic meaning the light waves it emits all have the same length. It is also a “coherent” light source, meaning that its waves can have a constant phase difference.
And before we tire some of you with more technical terms, let’s just say that laser lighting is way better than today’s state-of-the-art LEDs.
It can produce a light beam with an intensity 1,000 times (!) greater than that of LEDs. It poses no risk to humans or wildlife in car applications (so you can’t fire your way out of a traffic jam…), because laser light isn’t emitted directly, but is first converted in a very bright and white beam that is also pleasant to the eye and has the added advantage of very low energy production.
So, ladies and gentlemen, start your engines and fire up your lasers. BMW may have shattered our childhood sci-fi heroes to pieces, but we still have phasers to look forward to, don’t we?

The problem lays within the heating of the diesel filter. Apparently, a faulty plug leading to the heater continues to run the diesel filter, even after switching off the ignition, which can, in extreme cases, lead to a fire.

The contemporary automotive industry is a complex environment in which new connections are established every day, with more and more companies deciding to join forces in order to be able to cater to the customers' needs. The aftermarket world is no exception to this rule and we are here now to talk about a new partnership that is aimed at bringing horsepower to the people.
Getting to the point, we'll tell you that Akrapovic has reached an agreement with Alpina that will see the exhaust specialist supply its products for the German tuner's projects.
The two parts have also released a photo, which can be considered as a symbol of this tie-up.
However, there's more here than meets the eye, as Alpina has recently released a teaser image of the B6 Bi-Turbo Cabrio, which means that this development will also come with an Akrapovic exhaust.
Before we end the story, we have to note that we've been following Akrapovic for quite and while and we're happy to see that the exhaust specialist is expanding its business further and further, with the aforementioned move being just one step.
We also have to add that we're always happy to give you such news, because this means that more enthusiasts will be able to enjoy products that are design with only one purpose: to please the driver in you.
