Hyundai i30-Based Mid-Size MPV Spy Shots
These are the spy shots of Hyundai’s all-new seven-seater mid-size MPV, one that is based on the Hyundai i30 and draws inspiration from the HED-5 iMode concept which was showcased at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. With five usable seats, and two rearmost ones largely reserved for short trips, the new Hyundai MPV will be up against the likes of Honda Stream, Mazda 5 and Toyota Wish.
The heavy camouflage does an effective job of covering up any significant styling elements, although the car has been said to feature a dramatic, stylish yet sporty design similar to the HED-5 iMode concept car’s. Expect to see Hyundai’s “Fluidic Sculpture” design language, which debuted on the Hyundai Tucson, put to ample use on the new car.
A 1.6-litre direct-injected petrol engine and a 1.7-litre turbodiesel unit are likely to be in the future engine lineup. More details should emerge as we draw closer to the car’s unveiling at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, before its launch around mid-2011.
