Aspeto tonificado e refinado para o novo Bentley Flying Spur
Four-door Bentley Continental to get a purposeful new look

Bentley will give its 200mph Flying Spur saloon a sporty makeover late next year. The more shapely sheetmetal and significant under-the-skin improvements are aimed at keeping ahead of the all-newMercedes S-class.
Shown here in an artist’s impression based on solid inside information, the new Spur is the result of a clever reskin and re-engineering of the existing platform.

The key styling themes are sportier proportions and more fluid-looking surfaces, which are inspired by elements of the new Continental GT and the imposing Mulsanne flagship.
From the GT comes a toned-down version of the two-door’s muscular rear haunch, and the Mulsanne donates its elegant ‘catwalk’, a flowing belt line that widens over the rear haunch to suggest power and performance flowing from the rear axle.

“It’s got much more ‘Coke bottle’ than before and looks a lot sportier,” said one insider.
The new proportions are draped over a carried-over wheelbase, tracks and fixed-design ‘hard’ points and centre on a more raked rear screen, taller boot line and narrower rear glasshouse, to impart a more upmarket, sportier look.
Because the Spur sells in significant numbers in China, where owners prefer to be chauffeur-driven, Bentley hasn’t compromised the interior package in the name of sportiness.

The interior trim mirrors improvements made to the Mk2 Continental GT, including higher-grade mouldings, instruments, minor switchgear, leather and carpets.
Engineering refinement has been another major area of attention — particularly noise paths from the air-sprung suspension, ride quality and isolation of powertrain noise.
The powertrains will follow the pattern set by the Continental GT and GTC, adding a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 to the saloon range for the first time, paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.

The V8 is given away by the figure-of-eight shape of the tailpipes spotted by our spies on a test prototype. With an output of about 500bhp and 487lb ft of torque, the Spur V8 is likely to crack 180mph and 0-60mph in just over 5.0sec.
The V8 will also bring lower fuel consumption and emissions, pushing the Spur’s economy towards the mid-20s with about 300g/km of CO2.
The V8 will shift the Spur into a slightly more affordable — a relative term, of course — price point of about £120k, closer to Mercedes’ S63 AMG.
Given the importance of the V8 badge in the US, sales are likely to get a significant boost in North America.

The Spur W12 will get a refinement and economy boost from the eight-speed ZF auto, and the top speed of the more slippery four-door body should nudge it over 200mph, boosted by the more powerful, 567bhp version of the engine.
The headline-grabbing 616bhp Spur Speed is likely to push its 200mph-plus top speed further, helped by the extra 16bhp of its beefier W12.
Bentley is understood to be mulling over a launch date. The Geneva show next March is the current favourite, although Frankfurt next September remains a possibility.

Redesigned 2014 Bentley Flying Spur Sketched and Video Teased

Following on from the refreshed two-door Continental GT coupe and Continental GTC convertible models and their respective Speed variants, it's almost time for Bentley to reveal the saloon version of the series named the Flying Spur. The redesigned for the 2014 model year Flying Spur was teased on Monday through a sketch and a video that shows bits and parts of the exterior and interior ahead of its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March, though, Bentley noted that it will share more details about the car on February 20.

The makeover of the Flying Spur will mirror that of its two-door siblings with a more sculpted body featuring a flowing belt line and a new face, and a heavily revised interior with even higher grade materials, new switchgear and additional tech features.

Underneath, the biggest change is expected to be the addition of Bentley's twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 generating a maximum output of 500hp (507PS) and peak torque of 660Nm (487 lb-ft), connected to an 8-speed transmission and all-wheel drive.
Furthermore, Bentley will replace the 6-speed automatic with a new 8-speed unit on the W12-powered models.

Bentley Continental Flying Spur 2013 - apresentado

              Official launch tomorrow

The first official images with the 2014 Bentley Continental Flying Spur have surfaced the web.
Set for an official unveiling tomorrow, the facelifted Flying Spur will make its public debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show. It sports an evolutionary design with some of the styling cues seen on the GT and GTC models.

The front fascia has been revised while at the back the taillights are horizontally positioned. The mirrors have also gone through some changes, along with a more upright front grille and lower door handles. The roofline seems modified while the doors have been updated. Overall, the car adopts a sportier silhouette and comes with an improved interior cabin with materials of higher quality as well as additional tech including a new infotainment system.

Most likely the engine lineup will be borrowed from the Continental which means it should be offered with a V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo with 507 HP (373 kW) and a 6.0-liter W12 with 575 HP or 625 HP (460 kW).

                      Bentley Flying Spur apresentado

                      Debuts in Geneva

The late night unveilings continue as Bentley has taken the wraps off the 2014 Flying Spur.
Designed to set a new benchmark in the "luxury performance" segment, the redesigned Flying Spur has an evolutionary design which borrows cues from theContinental GT and Mulsanne. As such, the sedan has a lower and wider appearance which is further enhanced by curvaceous surfaces and muscular rear haunches. Notable highlights include LED-infused headlights, ventilated front fenders, a more upright grille and 19- to 21-inch alloy wheels.

Underneath the svelte bodywork is a redesigned structure that has reinforced sections and deformational elements. Besides being stronger - torsional stiffness increases four percent to 36,500 Nm/degree - the model is 50 kg (110 lbs) lighter thanks to aluminum (hood and front fenders) and polymer composite (boot lid) components.
The cabin is virtually brand new as only the sun visors, grab handles, armrests and some of the front console / controls are carried over from the previous generation. As a result, the interior has over 600 new components including softer leather seats, wood trim (in one of seven "sophisticated" veneers) and an updated infotainment system with an eight-inch display.

As usual, rear passengers get top billing as the Multi-Media Specification adds Wi-Fi connectivity, a 64 GB hard drive, wireless headphones and two 10-inch displays.
To control all toys, Bentley offers a "Touch Screen Remote" that deploys from the rear center console at the push of a button. It allows rear seat passengers to easily control a variety of different systems including the climate control and infotainment systems as well as their own seat.
Customers can also order the Mulliner Driving Specification which adds diamond quilted seats, a leather headliner, alloy pedals, a knurled gear lever, a jewel filler cap and 21-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.

At launch, the model will be available exclusively with a twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine that produces 625 HP (460 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system which enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds) and hit a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h). In terms of efficiency, the Flying Spur returns 14.7 L/100 km (19.2 mpg UK / 15 mpg US) and has CO2 emissions of 343g/km.
