Maserati Gan Turismo (2015) e Gran Cabrio (2016)

2015 Maserati GranTurismo To Signal New Styling Direction

The 2015 Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio will reveal a new styling direction for the marque, company insiders told Edmunds, and the cars will likely be closer to 2+2s rather than the roomier four-seaters that they are today.

The Maserati Quattroporte sedan, the just-released Ghibli sedan and the upcoming Levante SUV all share a similar sculptural character, but the next-generation GranTurismo coupe and its GranCabrio sibling will update the brand's vehicle design language.

Maserati has decided to reduce the size of the rear seat areas of these cars because it believes that the new four-door Ghibli sedan now provides customers with a sporting four-seater of the GranTurismo's size, allowing the next-generation versions of these cars to be more compact and dynamic.

Maserati is aiming to increase sales from under 7,000 units to 50,000 by 2015, and will not only need a new look to update these three core models when their replacement falls due toward the end of this decade, but will also need a more versatile design palette that allows for additions to the range.

According to some sources, among these new models could be an all-new two-seater sports car that will add another model range to Maserati's lineup.

CEO Harald Wester recently revealed that the company plans to introduce limited-edition models, taking advantage of the company's capacity for manufacturing such cars (it built the 8C Competizione for Alfa Romeo, and will make the company's smaller 4C sports car, too) besides maintaining the marque's reputation for exclusivity and producing glamorous cars.
