To be a 2+2 hybrid coupe
A new report coming from UK says the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution replacement could turn out to be a modern 3000GT.
Towards the end of last month a Japanese newspaper said Mitsubishi plans on axing the Lancer Evolution X by late 2014 without coming up with a replacement. It seems there won't be a direct successor but apparently Mitsubishi is cooking up a reboot of the 3000GT to fill in the empty space.
It will likely be a 2+2 hybrid sports coupe featuring technology derived from the Outlander PHEV to create a fast yet frugal vehicle. Mitsubishi Motors UK managing director Lance Bradley previously said a potential hybrid Evo would be based on the next-gen ASX, indicating a smaller car compared to the outgoing Evo X and possibly a "2+2 coupe would be a sensible body choice."
