Oxalá a moda pegue.
SMART EV now available in Switzerland
The electric version of the tiny SMART is now available to residents of Switzerland through the MES-DEA, manufacturer of the Zebra battery.
At least, that's what the PDF that AutoblogGreen reader Davide Rivola sent to us says.
The SMART EV will cost you $27,700 or $21,900 (depending on something, I can't quite comprehend all the Swiss on the sheet.
UPDATE: See Davide's comments - below - for the explanation) plus about $160 each month for the battery rental.
The SMART EV will not be available in the UK until November.

Hello,
there are two pricing:
+ $27,700 for a smart EV including the battery
+ $21,900 for a smart EV ($18,200) and part of the battery ($3700)
With the second option you have to pay an additional $160 each month for the rental. It's complicated but it's a way to lower the introduction price. And you're not stuck if the battery is dead, it'll be replaced by MES-DEA.
This offer is related to a swiss low emission project in the italian speaking part (Ticino). More info on: http://www.infovel.ch/01_vel/02_vel2/

New Smart Electric Vehicle
The Smart EV is designed to bring a breath of fresh air to the streets. It’s the natural product of smart’s unswerving commitment to the environment and innovation and not to mention fun. It isn’t available to buy just yet, but it isn’t a million miles off.
Think of a fortwo. Then think of an electric socket concealed behind what used to be the fuel cap. Picture the complete absence of exhaust fumes, so no CO2 emissions from the rear. Close your eyes and hear… no sound at all coming from the engine. Imagine no engine oil, no road tax, and no London congestion charge and you’ll start to get a sense of what really makes the new smart ev tick.
Powered solely by electricity, the smart ev can achieve the equivalent of 300 mpg – that amounts to a saving of up to 80% in fuel costs over the already highly economical smart fortwo. The ev can travel up to 71 miles between charges, which typically take around 5 hours, ideal for charging at work between your morning and evening commutes.
The first 200 smart ev’s are being leased exclusively to blue chip companies who are happy to meet smart's requirements to power the cars using only renewable energy sources.
What’s more, the ev hasn’t had to sacrifice any of the fortwo’s performance or class-leading equipment: expect the full complement of Mercedes-Benz safety features and a top speed of 70 mph courtesy of a powerful Zytek electric motor. Once it’s up to speed (0-30mph in an impressive 6.5 seconds) the ev uses its tiny weight gain to deliver an exciting and stable drive.
So there you have it: a zero emission vehicle that is 100% smart; a car that will save money and the environment. Although the smart ev won’t be available to the public just yet, it’s definitely something smart are working on.
