    2011 Kia Optima-Magentis

First spy shots of the 2011 Kia Optima appear on the web. Stunning exterior design for Kia’s next generation mid-size sedan.

If you like spy shot reports and new Kia cars, then you definately don’t want to miss this post. Our spy report today is related to next generation mid-size Kia sedan, known as Optima in US market or Magentis elswhere.
KGP photography crew managed to take a few shots of a heavily camouflaged prototype of next Kia Optima, which has been spotted while undergoing hot-weather testing in the US Death Vally. These very first spy shots reveal that Optima will undergo dramatic exterior styling changes. The 2011 Optima will be penned by Peter Schreyer, the creator of iconic Audi TT sports car, and will feature far more aggressive and sportier look than its predecessor.
Underpinnings of the next Kia Optima, as well as engines and transmissions will be shared with next-generation Hyundai Sonata and will include a range of powerful EURO5 compliant diesel and gasoline engines, equipped with gasoline direct injection technology. For the first time, Optima will also be available with Hyundai-Kia’s new six-speed automatic transmission.
The all-new Kia Optima is expected to hit Kia dealers in Korea in the first half of the 2010, while US and European sales will likely commence in late 2010 or early 2011.

New (2011) Kia Optima/Magentis to bear K5 name in Korea

Next generation, 2011 Kia Optima/Magentis to bear K5 nomenclature in its home market.

Following our news, and exclusive image of the all-new Kia K7 that we published at our blog yesterday, is another report related to one of Kia’s forthcoming sedans. This time, the news relates to Kia’s all-new, 2011 Optima sedan.
Today, we have learned that a completely redesigned Optima sedan will make its inaugural Korean debut in the first quarter of 2010, while its official sales has been scheduled to commence in May next year.
Reportedly, the all-new Optima (NOTE: Korean market model only!) will be the second model after Kia K7 to adopt the brand’s new alphanumeric naming scheme. According to latest rumours, the model is expected to bear a K5 nomenclature in its home Korean market.
A dozen of spy shots published on the web lately prove that the 2011 Optima is undergoing final phase of pre-production testing. Although most of the car has been hidden underneath a heavy camouflage, there have been several partly exposed parts, including a roof-line, signature grille, head-lights, tail-lights and side-mirrors, that allowed us to build a clearer picture of what the next-generation Optima will look like when it arrives into the showrooms.
Styling-wise, the all-new Optima will follow the trend of four-door coupes, set by pioneering Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. The model will incorporate Kia’s latest design scheme that will surprise many people yet again like how the all-new Forte and Forte Koup have done so.
Mechanically, the all-new Optima is a twin model of the all-new Hyundai Sonata so both are sitting on the same platform. However, since Kia is considering itself as a sportier brand in the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group, it is very likely that Kia’s engineers will modify Optimas platform to offer sportier and more agile handling than its Hyundai counterpart.

Essa parte acho um misto de BMW e Audi, sobretudo os farolins, que na minha opinião pouco ou nada têm a ver com os do Mondeo.

These are the first official pictures of the all-new Kia Magentis, which will be launched at April’s New York motor show.
The new Magentis will go on sale later this year in the US and Korea, where it is known as the Optima, and European sales will follow early in 2011.
See the official Kia Magentis pics
A Kia source told Autocar that the car encompasses everything it wanted to achieve with its future design under its chief designer Peter Schreyer and all new Kias were likely to feature styling cues taken from the Magentis.
The Magentis is longer, wider and lower than the model it replaces and sits on a longer wheelbase than the outgoing car. This has significantly increased both cabin and luggage space.
Although initial details on the new Magentis are scarce, Autocar understands that it will feature Kia’s next generation of petrol and diesel engines. The big-seller should be the 2.0-litre diesel taken from the Sportage.
A 2.0-litre petrol engine will be the staple of the petrol range, although Kia could introduce smaller-capacity petrol engines, should there be sufficient demand.
Kia concedes that the Magentis is never likely to be a major seller in Europe, but believes the large saloon segment is one in which it must compete, as a volume manufacturer.
But the real demand for the car will come from the US and domestic markets, where its much improved styling and dynamics should hold appeal for buyers.
At present, the Magentis name is strongly expected to remain in Europe, although Kia is considering a numerical system for its future cars. It is introducing such a system in Korea.
