Já vi nalguns sites (aparentemente, confirmado por alguém da marca) que a BMW iria apresentar em Genebra um protótipo de um roadster mais pequeno e mais barato do que o Z4.

Espera-se:

• que as portas abram de uma forma semelhante à do antigo Z1, painéis exteriores sobrepostos e um tipo de iluminação qualquer que muda a cor do carro.
• alguma herança do Vision Efficient Dynamics como a navegação em tempo real ou mesmo aqueles sensores que "evitam" acidentes.
• capota de lona não só por ser mais barata como também por ser um sistema mais leve.

A marca nega que o carro é a antecipação de um veículo de produção, no entanto, a imprensa já refere que poderá estar equipado com um 2.0 turbo de 4 cilindros, que a capota será em lona (à semelhança do protótipo) e que a sua plataforma é a mesma do S1 com tracção traseira.
Outros media dizem que este carro poderá estar inserido na gama com a denominação i que a marca registou recentemente e que será concorrente do MX-5.

Aí é que acho que a porca torce o rabo... em termos de conceito devem concorrer, mas o preço, penso que seria algo superior no BMW.

Acho que um Z4 "atarrachado" não faz muito sentido, o Z4 é que fica bem naquela configuração.
A segunda foto com aquelas jantes enormes e a distância entre eixos tão pequena...fez-me lembrar aqueles desenhos que o GTTDI faz de caricaturas dos carros

Acho que o Z4 23i já é "baby" que chegue para este segmento.

Talvez fizesse sentido uma versão de entrada com o próximo motor turbo a estrear no S3, mas menos que isso não me parece.

After months of complete silence, the BMW Z2 Roadster comes back to focus. Back in 2009, we learned for the first time that BMW is planning a new entry-level roadster that will sit, as expected, below the Z4.
The BMW Z2 Roadster will launch in the second half of 2012 and a Coupe variant will follow as well. BMW Z2 is based on next generation 1 Series platform and it is build under the Project i umbrella and the BMW’s EfficientDynamics program.
It uses a high strength steel body, while the door skins and aluminum front bonnet, front wings and bootlid are made of composite materials. Propshaft and engine block are manufactured from magnesium. Target weight for both Coupe and Roadster is 2,200 lbs (1000 kg). The Z2 will feature front movable front spoiler to provide extra down force, opening and closing intakes and grille slats provide cooling for the engine or battery. The roof of the BMW Z2 will retain the conventional easy folding soft-top.

BMW Geneva concept revealed

A two-seat BMW roadster concept at Geneva will launch a new styling language and driver information system due for production in 2013 on the production VisionED sportscar and MegaCity EV.
Called the Vision ConnectedDrive, the two-seater features new headlamps and body surfacing, a shark-nose grille and next-gen driver information displays, including a radical new three-dimensional dashboard interface.
Most notable of the Vision ConnectedDrive concept’s detailed features are the front and rear styling, including the round headlamps and traditional L-shaped tail lamps, which are said to provide clear hints of design boss Adrian von Hooydonk’s direction to progress the look of future BMW production models.

“There are certain features which have been chosen because they reflect the look you’ll see on new models already in the pipeline,” said a source involved in the development of the new concept. “And you won’t have to wait too long before they become reality.”
Mirroring the approach taken with the earlier Vision EfficientDynamics concept wheeled out in 2009, BMW’s design team have also provided the Vision ConnectedDrive with taut surfacing treatment and so-called ‘layered’ surface elements. Hooydonk said: “The layering principle requires that individual components take on a number of tasks. By working with different layers, organic radii and surfaces, the layering concept breaks up large visual volumes.”
As intriguing are the sliding doors. Inspired by those on the iconic Z1 sportscar, produced in limited volume between 1989 and 1991, they open by sliding inside the adjacent bodywork, enabling entry over a high sill.
As its name suggests the Vision ConnectedDrive carries a host of never-before-revealed technology that BMW is working on to provide a more streamlined transfer of information to the driver.
BMW knows that the day is rapidly approaching when on-board sensors will deliver so much data to the driver that innovative ways are needed to present the information so it can be absorbed and acted upon quickly.
Intended to replace the conventional instrument cluster, the next-gen HUD will display info like road speed and sat-nav directions in three-dimensions.
This tech allows different information layers to be superimposed on top of one another, in turn allowing the driver to display the required data in the foreground, while ghosting less significant info into the background.
By providing this ‘optical depth of field’, BMW reckons it can provide the driver with multiple additional information sources without having to redesign a car’s fascia to take an additional display screen.
A typical sequence could be: the road speed is ghosted into the background to allow the next sat-nav routing direction to take the main position on the HUD, which in turn fades into a background layer to accommodate an urgent traffic jam warning, then returning to display the road speed.

A frente é mesmo ao estilo Alfa Romeo 159/Brera. Até gostava que saísse assim em termos de secção frontal, só para ver se o design era considerado apaixonante de forma "unânime" tal como é nos Alfas. Isto claro, não deixa de estar bonito, muito bonito até. E a grelha em "bico" é algo que começa a ser comum nos concepts, cá para mim na próxima "evolução" vai ser o próximo estilo utilizado.

De certa forma, aquelas duas "bossas" atrás dos bancos trazem-me à memória o Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta Concept.
Apesar de não ser fã das grelhas sobredimensionadas em relação aos grupos ópticos frontais, agrada-me bastante este protótipo

gosto daquela frente furiosa, já agora podiam ter feito algo neste estilo no novo serie 6, aquela frente do novo 6... enfim, mas acho que este não é o tópico para falar disso. Quanto a este concept penso que esta forma da grelha frontal seja novidade, em relação à inclinação dela, bastante acentuada, em "bico ou estilo tubarão" que já se tem visto noutros concepts, é uma interpretação dos clássicos, agrada-me bastante e acredito que no futuro irá ser adoptada ...não gosto da linha curva lateral superior a inclinar para a frente do bicho... de resto assim visto por alto está porreiro.....nota também para os faróis traseiros em L que regressaram para ficar

Surfaces, strongly expressive and powerfully taut, are enhanced by distinctive flowing lines. The layering principle, which requires that individual components take on a number of tasks, has been implemented both in the interior and the exterior. Sensors integrated into the headlights and the rear lights assist in monitoring the traffic situation and the environment. Antennas instead of wing mirrors transmit information to the outside world and capture navigation data.

An enhanced Head-Up Display is one of the innovations in the field of display and operating concepts of the BMW Vision ConnectedDrive family. It delivers a three-dimensional display of information and icons which provide an optical fusion of the actual view of the road ahead with virtual content. For example, this augmented reality application projects information about the route precisely onto the location of a possible turn-off - in relation to the actual field of view. Information is displayed either in the foreground or in the background, depending upon its relevance and the current traffic situation. In addition, the concept vehicle is equipped with a freely programmable instrument cluster; its display complements the projections generated by the Head-Up Display. The range and breadth of its functionality exceeds by far the display capabilities of classic cockpit instruments. By means of a display, which also presents information in three dimensions, individual pieces of information can be optically emphasized to a greater or lesser degree depending upon the driving situation, in order to gain the appropriate amount of attention.

Via the Passenger Information Display, the passenger in a BMW Vision ConnectedDrive vehicle can also take advantage of additional functionalities provided by intelligent networking. As a co-pilot he can evaluate information or address details for the navigation system received online and forward them to the driver's instrument panel if necessary. Thus the interaction between the driver and the passenger and networking with the environment reach new levels. The Emotional Browser makes an even more varied and individually-tailored choice of information possible. During the journey, this system captures and filters additional information about the environment through which the vehicle is currently travelling, in terms of people, mood or location. This personal configuration can be set at the start of the journey, but can also be adjusted on the road to be more or less detailed, to suit individual requirements.

BMW Z2 - a AutoBild "insiste"

Segundo a AutoBild, o BMW Z2 vai mesmo ser lançado.
Pelo que consigo perceber através da tradução do google, o Z2 chega ao mercado em 2014 e irá ser um carro divertido de conduzir.

Segundo a publicação alemã, o Z2, ao contrário do Z4, vai possuir uma capota de lona e não vai ser um Z4 "diminuido à escala".

O seu preço ficará um bocado abaixo do do Z4, iniciando-se nos €33000. Ainda não se sabe em que plataforma irá assentar o carro, mas fala-se na UKL1, dadas as dúvidas, o lançamento do carro pode ser atrasado para 2016.

Quanto a motores deverão estar presentes os 16i, 20i, 28i com potências compreendidas entre os 163 e os 272 cv.

Se alguém perceber alemão melhor que eu e o tradutor e quiser "verificar" as informações, agradecia.

Auf Z3 folgte Z4, auf Stoffmütze das Metall-Klappdach und damit einhergehend ein tüchtiger Gewichtsanstieg – sowie eine gepfefferte Preisliste. Aus der Nummer kommt BMW nun nicht mehr raus. Ein komplettes Modell "downsizen" funktioniert nicht. Da hilft nur eins: ein völlig neues Modell unterhalb des Z4. Endgültige Entscheidungen gibt es noch nicht, aber zahlreiche Indizien. Schon 2014 könnte der Z2 die Rolle des Einstiegsroadsters spielen. Leichter, wieder mit Stoffverdeck und deutlich günstiger als der aktuelle Z4 könnte der Kleine dann in die Fußstapfen des seeligen Z3 treten. Für Vortrieb könnten Zweiliter-Vierzylinder mit 163 bis 272 PS (16i / 20i / 28i) sorgen.

Preislich scheinen 33.000 Euro als Einstieg denkbar. Unklar ist, ob der Z2 den Allradantrieb der UKL1-Plattform bekommt, oder doch als Hecktriebler von der Leine gelassen wird. Das würde den Start allerdings auf 2016 verschieben, da hierfür deutlich intensiver weiterentwickelt werden müsste. Außerdem muss dann der Z4 in der Hierarchie weiter aufsteigen, da ihm der Z2 sonst die Show stiehlt.
