Bristol declara falência ... e apresenta "novos" modelos

Bristol Cars, famous for 67 years of ‘gentleman’s GTs’, is close to unveiling an all-new hybrid supercar, perhaps as soon as July’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The new car will use a range-extended powertrain devised by Bristol’s associate company Frazer-Nash, the Surrey-based research firm run by Indian tech entrepreneur Kamal Siddiqi, who also owns the rights to the Wankel rotary engine.

The Bristol is believed to send permanent electric drive to all four wheels, with a petrol engine — probably a compact rotary — powering a generator to feed a bank of lithium ion batteries. Frazer-Nash sources are secretive about the car’s precise layout and looks, but say an outside consultant will style the car.

In 2009, in co-operation with Turin-based design house Italdesign, Frazer-Nash showed the Namir range-extended supercar concept, which used its own-design system of separate motors for each wheel, plus what Fraser-Nash engineers call ‘digital differentials’ to deploy torque intelligently. The car had an 813cc Wankel engine driving a generator to charge lithium ion batteries mounted in the spine of the chassis.

Frazer-Nash has given no indication when it plans to put the Bristol into production, but talks of its “responsibility as custodians of the brand”, and has confirmed its “firm intention” to build the car.

Bristol previews new Project Pinnacle anniversary car | Autocar

Bristol Cars has released the first image of Project Pinnacle, a car designed to celebrate the firm's 70th anniversary. The car, which will go on sale in 2015, is described as "a modern take on the best of British craftsmanship," and is "engineered to excite".
Bristol says the new model will help to re-establish the brand in the market, with millions having been spent on the project since Bristol was bought in 2011.

Bristol boss Julian Ramshaw said: "Investments in our new products and facilities spearhead our modern philosophy for the Bristol marque.
"We believe that the automotive landscape is changing, particularly in the premium and luxury sector. The definitions of luxury are changing. People’s expectations are changing. And Bristol Cars is changing too. This is just the start, and there is a lot more to come from us.”

Bristol's future plans also include a range-extender electric grand tourer, which is being developed in conjunction with Surrey-based technology group Frazer-Nash Research. Bristol is said to have targeted a top speed of 200mph for the model, alongside fuel economy of 100mpg in town.

Power is likely to come from four separate electric motors, mounted on all corners, alongside an 800cc Wankel rotary engine powering a generator.
The two-door, four-seat tourer - which will be similar in size to the Bentley Continental GT - is likely to be produced in strictly limited numbers. Bristol owner and chairman Kamal Siddiqi has said the model will be sold for "under £200,000".

Bristol Cars’ Project Pinnacle Will Have A BMW Engine

Bristol Cars is moving closer to the debut of its first new car in more than a decade, known under the codename Project Pinnacle. The company has released new details about the new model, with the highlight being that it will be powered by a BMW engine.

The carmaker says the “high performance powertrain” marks the resumption of the history between Bristol, Frazer-Nash and BMW dating back to 1930s. However, no details were offered about the engine.

Set for launch later this year, the Project Pinnacle will be a 70th anniversary celebration model reflecting the brand’s rich heritage but built “as a modern take on the best of British craftsmanship, engineered to excite and satisfy as a high performance Bristol car.”

Bristol Cars was bought in 2011 by the newly-formed Bristol Automotive Group, which is investing in new products, strategic partnerships and technologies, a specialist new Parts, Service and Restoration facility in Brentford, West London, as well as an additional showroom on Kensington High Street.

Further details on Project Pinnacle will be announced in the near future.
