Audi Q8 2023 NHTSA crash test
    https://www.motor1.com/news/681605/a...impact-rating/

2023-audi-q7-nhtsa-side-impact-test.webpThe National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conducts crash tests to evaluate the safety of vehicles in the event of a collision. These tests are conducted on every vehicle sold in the US, including cars, trucks, and SUVs. Based on their performance in these tests, vehicles are awarded stars for their performance. A five-star rating, like the one awarded to the Audi Q8, indicates the highest possible score.

In the video shared on CarPro1993's YouTube channel, the NHTSA prepares to crash-test a Q8, Audi's premium two-row SUV based on the seven-passenger Q7. The NHTSA places black and yellow tape along the roof and doors to measure impact intrusion to the passenger compartment. It uses dummies of different sizes in bright-colored shirts and paints to evaluate impact severity and likelihood of injury.

    2023-audi-q7-nhtsa-side-impact-test.webp

Side-impact testing involves crashing a barrier directly into the side of a vehicle at its midpoint. Used to simulate a collision with another vehicle, the barrier strikes the driver's side of the Audi at 38.5 miles an hour, lifting the left-hand side wheels off the ground. The side curtain airbags deploy as the doors are pushed inward by the force of the impact. Inside, the dummies are jarred, first pushed against the airbags before rebounding to the right.

In the aftermath of the crash, the Audi Q8 is moderately damaged. The B-pillar took the brunt of the impact, and the doors are noticeably deformed. Even so, the SUV looks driveable. The wheels appear straight, and the windshield looks undamaged. The side windows popped out of their frames but didn't break. Inside, while the door panels are disfigured, the airbags deflected much of the force away from the dummies.

According to the NHTSA's website, the Audi Q8 gets a five-star safety rating for side impact protection and an overall five-star rating for safety. It also receives a five-star rating for frontal impact and four stars for rollover safety. In addition to these categories, the NHTSA recently proposed stricter pedestrian safety tests, including standards for automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection

Crash test Mercedes EQS vs EQA

        https://www.topgear.com/car-news/ele...st-eqs-suv-eqa

The result? “The car will look like hell, but the occupants will be safe,” Merc’s director of vehicle safety Paul Dick told TopGear.com. And it’s an alarming thing to witness: much louder than you’d expect, debris showering the controlled air and environment, coolant fluid everywhere, shattered wheel rims and completely deformed car bodies. It’s quite grim.

And yet, Merc’s data from the cars and the dummies (each dummy carrying 150 sensors) showed the doors could still be opened after the crash, which means the passenger ‘safety cell’ worked as intended. The four dummies – three females and one male – returned data to suggest a “low risk of serious to fatal injury”. The airbags and belt tensioners all worked as designed.

And the eight-stage high voltage safety net incorporating a battery protection zone, better stiffness for housings, reinforced cables and even self-monitoring, also did what it was supposed to. The HV system was automatically switched off and made safe the instant both cars made contact.

“Protecting human lives is not a question of drive system,” said Merc’s technology boss Markus Schäfer. “The recent crash test involving two fully electric vehicles demonstrates this. It proves that all our vehicles have an equally high level of safety, no matter what technology drives them.”

Nos tempos áureos da AMS, eles dariam grande destaque a isto e publicariam valores de intrusão e desaceleração na medida do possível, etc. Agora é uma simples nota de rodapé nas "notícias diversas".

Ford Mondeo e Ford Sierra Adac crash test
              https://techzle.com/ford-sierra-vs-f...om-the-old-box

              Safety steps

As modern as the Ford Sierra appeared when it appeared in 1982, it suddenly became so outdated next to its successor, the Ford Mondeo. This became even more apparent when the two were subjected to a crash test together.

Switching to the next generation of a model is often done because of the flashier appearance, new gadgets or better powertrains. Fewer people will have the improved safety at the forefront as the reason. Although sometimes that can make a significant difference. Certainly in the past, the step in that area was sometimes big with a generation change. Especially from the 1980s to the 1990s, car safety progressed rapidly. This was also proven by a crash test of the Ford Sierra and its successor, the Ford Mondeo.
Exactly thirty years ago we watched when the Mondeo and the Sierra were successively slammed against the wall in Germany in the same room. At 50 km/h, the two middle class cars hit it with the (seen from the car) left corner of the front. Especially in profile, the difference was immediately visible.

Take a look at the front of both cars above. That of the Sierra is clearly much more dented. 5.2 cm further to be exact. At the A-pillar, the body of the Sierra is kinked much further than that of the Mondeo. Furthermore, the windscreen and the dashboard are clearly more battered inwards. The difference was also clearly visible on the inside. “Dashboard and steering wheel are still roughly in place in the Mondeo, the airbag is slack down. Chaos reigns in the Sierra, on the other hand. The dashboard has attacked the driver, plastic parts at knee height have been shattered. The steering wheel has found its way has been swept towards the roof; it stands 25 cm higher than before. It seems destined to be the landing place for the driver’s head.”
Was it all top in the Mondeo? No, not that. Although safety had clearly improved compared to the Sierra, there were certainly still areas for improvement. For example, the driver’s door of the Mondeo only opened after quite a bit of violence, while according to Ford there was already an improved lock in this copy to facilitate this. Furthermore, the test engineers were certainly not happy about what had happened in the footwell of the Mondeo. “The bulkhead behind the pedals is folded up almost vertically, the clutch and brake pedals are pushed towards the driver and blocked, the underbody is strongly curved. That hurts. Although Ford dismisses the objections, the test panel believes that the legroom should be made safer. “

              Test results

Despite that blemish on the Ford Mondeo’s reputation, the test panel felt that safety had improved considerably over the Sierra. The Mondeo scored a higher figure in almost all areas, as you can see below. Remarkably enough, salvaging passengers was a fraction easier in the Sierra than in the Mondeo, although on the other hand, the seatbelts in the back and the back seat of the Sierra could cause injuries much sooner than was the case with the Mondeo.

              Dashboard 8 5.4
              Footwell 4.4 4
              Seat and belt 8 6.4
              Driver’s salvage 5.4 5

Sairam hoje 3 testes novos do Euroncap.

                BYD Seal

                Xpeng P7

                BYD Dolphin

                              Subaru Impreza e Subaru Crosstrek

The redesigned Subaru Impreza and Subaru Crosstrek, both small cars, qualify for awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety thanks to improvements in side crash protection and the elimination of subpar headlight options.

                              The 2024 Subaru Impreza

                              The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek

The 2024 Impreza, which earns a good rating in the updated side test, is a TOP SAFETY PICK+. The 2024 Crosstrek, which earns an acceptable side rating, is a TOP SAFETY PICK. Both improved over their 2023 models, which earned poor ratings in the new version of the side evaluation launched last year.

To qualify for the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award in 2023, a vehicle must earn a good rating in the updated side test as well as in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front and original moderate overlap front tests. Acceptable or good headlights must be standard across all trims, and a front crash prevention system that earns advanced or superior ratings in both the daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations must be available.

In contrast, for the lower-tier TOP SAFETY PICK award, an acceptable rating in the updated side test is enough, and only an advanced or superior rating in the daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian test is necessary.

Both of the redesigned vehicles come with good headlights across the board. Previously, some trim lines of the Crosstrek had poor headlights and some Impreza trims had marginal ones.

The two vehicles also have standard front crash prevention that earns a superior rating in both the daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian tests.

The Impreza is now only available as a wagon; the sedan has been discontinued.

O nome Sintra foi escolhido por um programa de computrador, nada tem a ver com qualquer interess, por parte da GM, em designar um modelo da opel, com um nome de uma cidade Portuguesa.

The Opel Sintra is a large MPV manufactured by General Motors for the European market (in the United Kingdom under the Vauxhall Sintra nameplate) between 1996 and 1999. The Sintra is one of the second-generation U-body MPVs (known internally as GMX110s). Its name was chosen by a computer from a list of short, easy to pronounce words and not after the historic Portuguese town of Sintra. It featured sliding rear side doors on both sides and was available in different seating configurations, which provided seating for from 5 to 8 passengers. Unlike its North American counterparts, it offered manual transmission instead of automatic transmission, and had the gear shift mounted directly on the floor like the older generations of European vans.
