Best Cars: Readers vote Audi models top

Audi has recorded a triple success in the “auto motor und sport” readers’ poll: readers of the popular car magazine voted the A3, A6 and Audi Q7 into first place in their respective classes, crowning them with “Best Cars” titles for 2007. This continues Audi’s history of success in one of the most important readers’ polls in the automotive industry.

This was the first time that the Audi Q7 has taken part in the poll, and despite fierce competition it was awarded the most votes. It represents a new standard in the SUV segment. The Audi brand’s first SUV stands out thanks to its outstanding on-road performance, good off-road characteristics, expressive design and the quality characteristic of Audi. And it is not just readers of auto motor und sport who hold these properties in high esteem; the Q7 has also enjoyed great success with customers.

The winner in the executive class, the Audi A6, has been the market leader in its segment in Germany for two years now. The elegant and sporty A6 is available as both a saloon and an Avant. In 2006, Audi added the sporty S6 and the A6 allroad quattro to this successful model line.

The Audi A3 was voted top of the compact class for the third time. Audi demonstrates with the A3 how it is possible to perfectly unite premium standards with compact dimensions in a smaller vehicle class. The A3 is available in three-door and Sportback versions, and also in the shape of the S3.

Abt Audi TT-Sport

In direct comparison the little “brother” of the Abt TT-R might not seem to be as spectacular as the 355-HP-racer but on the roads there is hardly a match. The Abt technicians have boosted the power of the established 2.0 Turbo FSI engine with up to an additional 100 HP. The most powerful version now performs mighty 300 HP (221 kW) and the Abt TT-Sport sprints to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds and shows a top speed of 256 km/h. The two-litre Turbo is also available with 270 HP or with the innovative, environment-friendly and fuel-saving iS-technology which brings about 240 HP (177 kW). The strongest motorization of the Abt TT-Sport is the VR6 3.2 with supercharger performing 310 HP (228 kW).

In all versions the Coupé is extremely powerful and a sports car of the special kind as the basic beautiful design of the TT has been given the perfect touch. Abt Sportsline has developed special body styling parts that make the TT-Sport a real eye-catcher communicating power and dynamics. The lateral add-on parts continue the dynamical body language and create a harmonious transition to the extravagant rear with rear skirt inset and rear wing. In contrast to the filigree serial part, the Abt rear wing cannot be folded but is a part which is firmly integrated in the hatchback. The result is not only a racier design; it also brings about more downforce.

The double twin-pip rear muffler is the finishing tough that harmonizes perfectly with the black rear skirt inset and diffuser. The area around the fog lights and single-frame grill is highlighted by the front skirt, giving the Abt TT-Sport a more aggressive and marked face. To round off the striking overall design, Abt Sportsline recommends the wheel models AR20 and SP1 in 20 inch or 19 inch as well as tyres sized 255/30 R20 and 255/35 R19.
 
Wolfgang Josef Egger é o novo Director de Design da Audi

O sucessor de Walter de’Silva inicia funções a 1 de Maio de 2007.

Wolfgang Josef Egger vai tornar-se o novo Director de Design do Grupo Audi a partir de 1 de Maio de 2007.
Rupert Stadler, Chairman da Audi AG, referiu que ao preencher este cargo «a marca dos quatro anéis vai reforçar a sua independência em termos de design».
Egger começou a sua carreira em 1989 como designer da Alfa Romeo. Passou ainda pela Seat e pela Lancia, tendo regressado à Alfa como Director de Design. Na sua nova posição vai suceder a Walter de’Silva, que assumiu o cargo de Director de Design do Grupo Volkswagen a 1 de Fevereiro.

The most powerful diesel engine in the SUV segment gives the Audi Q7 the sportiest performance of all diesels. The premium SUV sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds. On the motorway it can reach a top speed of 236 km/h.[/FONT]
