    Tesla Model E (2015) - compacto

Tesla : confirmado rival do Nissan Leaf

Entry-level Tesla will be called the Model E - report

    2013 Tesla Model S

    Could be launched in 2015

According to a recent report, Tesla's entry-level sedan will be called the Model E.
Autovisie says the car will be introduced in approximately 18 months and have styling that is heavily influenced by the Model S. Despite its smaller dimensions and presumably smaller battery, the Model E will have a range of roughly 320 km (199 miles). For comparison, the entry-level Model S has an "EPA 5-Cycle Certified Range" of 335 km (208 miles).

Previous reports have indicated the entry-level sedan could spawn a crossover that will compete with the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. The model could be launched in 2017 and feature gullwing doors like the Model X.
If everything pans out, the Model E could cost approximately $35,000 (€25,355 / £21,630).

      Tesla Drops Model E Nameplate

Slated for mass production by the end of 2016, Tesla's third generation vehicle won't bear the Model E moniker, which is a registered trademark of the Ford Motor Company.

As it happens, the Blue Oval submitted trademark applications for the aforementioned moniker as early as the year 2000, with the most recent in December 2013. In regards to the successor of the Model S, a Tesla Motors communications officer declared to the media that the nameplate issue "has been resolved amicably."

However, that leaves the Palo Alto-based manufacturer without a name for its upcoming plug-in electric vehicle. Of course, 'E' goes hand in hand with the type of energy powering the model, but what's wrong with the letter that follows 'S' in the alphabet?

Or even better, the new model could very well be marketed as the Omega, stylized as the uppercase Greek letter Ω. Think about it, this letter is used as a symbol in physics for the ohm, a unit used to measure electrical resistance.

Whatever the name, the future Tesla Model E, T, or Ω is expected to be a smaller alternative to the Model S luxury sedan. Reports hint that it will sport wheelbase and bodywork dimensions between the current BMW 3 Series and 5 Series, and will have a sticker price as low as $35,000 for the no-frills entry-level version.

Until further info on the subject comes out, we presume that production of the yet unnamed vehicle hinges greatly on the completion of Tesla's ginormous Gigafactory, where the car maker will assemble next generation lithium-ion battery packs.
