Next Infiniti FX, the QX70, Will Keep Radical Styling, Place More Emphasis on Interior Space

Aside from the change in their model naming policy, Infiniti has been doing lots of constructive things with its range of cars over the years, tailoring them for specific needs of prospective buyers in any given location around the world. For instance, in Europe, they introduced dieselsthroughout the range, as otherwise, they would have hardly sold any cars at all.

Now, it seems that they have had a very good look at their rivals and have found one area they could really improve in.
The FX SUV, soon to be renamed QX70, is a style-oriented vehicle, and this is what gives it its unique appeal. However, its tapered and streamlined shape with curved corners has a negative impact on interior space, which is not on par with that of the mainstream models, like a Porsche Cayenne or Range Rover Sport. Thus, according to a report published by Automotive News, they will be fixing this issue with the next generation.

The challenge for the designers and engineers is now to “maintain the striking look of it while making it slightly larger inside.” However, the XF/QX70’s emphasis on style was what made it stand out in the first place, and its current (and rather unusual) body shape cannot be achieved without sacrificing some interior room.
Expect to see the new model debut in 2015-2016, while all 2014 model-year examples will be renamed QX70.
