A 2.5 liter, in-line, four cylinder, 16 DOHC valve, chain drive with VCT-i gasoline engine is housed in the hybrid variant. The petrol engine is good for top power of 160 PS at 5700 RPM along with peak torque of 213 Nm at 21.7 kgm at 4500 RPM.


A 650 V permanent magnet synchronous motor generator works in symbioses with the petrol engine in the hybrid variant. Besides this a 245 V nickel-metal Hybdride hybrid battery is also fitted. The hybrid system offers 205 PS of top power and comes with an option of ECO and EV driving modes. The motor generates 143 PS of power and 270 Nm of torque. Petrol trim gets a 181 PS/233 Nm version of the 2.5 litre engine. Toyota Camry transmission option includes a E-CVT (electronically controlled continuously variable transmission) equipped in hybrid trim. The petrol version features a six-speed automatic with sequential shift transmission.
