    [Antevisão] 2011 Kia Amanti (K9)

Kia has next generation Amanti sedan in the works. Expected to be built on the RWD platform and hit the market in 2011!

According to latest news at Motor Trend website, Kia is going to switch the platform of its next generation Amanti flagship from front-wheel-drive to rear wheel drive! The replacement for Amanti sedan, which will sit on the Genesis’ platform, is not expected to reach the US shores before 2010.
Motor Trend expects new Amanti to be slightly smaller in size compared to Hyundai Genesis sedan and will also miss the V8 power. Instead, Kia is likely going to use an updated 3.8L Lambda V6. Motor Trend also states Kia will also use a 2.0L turbo engine in the 2011 Amanti, which is, in my opinion very unlikely.
The 2.0L four-cylinder engines are not appropriate for large sized cars. Not only they lack the power and torque, but also the refinement of V6s and V8s. Have you ever seen a Bimmer 7-series with 2.0L four banger?… Well, I thought so. It is possible, however that we are going to see some engine downsizing. As you know automakers have been replacing large V8 engines with smaller V6 turbo engines or even smaller engines with bi-turbo technology.
As far as I know, Kia and Hyundai have developed a range of highly advanced GDI - gasoline direct injection engines with displacements from 1.6L to 2.4L and the 2.4L four-cylinder engine is the sole four-banger that is appropriate for next Amanti

Next generation Amanti is expected to hit the market in 2011 and will for sure be one of the highlights in Kias vehicle line-up. As every latest Kia model, the new Amanti will sport a very dynamic and sophisticated exterior look, while its new rear-wheel-drive platform should provide sporty and agile handling characteristics.
Before we see the next generation Amanti at the dealers, Kia has plans to bring a plethora of new models to the market. There is an all-new Optima sedan in the works, scheduled for summer of 2010. The all-new Optima sedan will share its platform with next Hyundai Sonata and will also be available with a hybrid powertrain from late 2011.
There’s also a VG sedan scheduled to make its official South Korean premiere sometime by the end of the year and we should not forget to mention the all-new Sorento crossover. Sorento is coming to the US market early next year and will be the first Kia model to be built at its first US manufacturing plant. The plant is expected to begin operating by the end of November.
During the summer (of this year), Kia will introduce the exciting Forte Koup, a two door variant of the Forte compact sedan which has gone on sale in the US market last month. Kia Forte Koup will be available with a 2.0L and 2.4L four-cylinder engines and will host a plethora of standard features, including a complete safety equipment

          Kia K9; luxury rear-wheel-drive sedan

Is this the much anticipated Kia K9 luxury sedan, based on Genesis’ rear-wheel-drive platform?

The attendees of the Songdo design conference, held in South Korea, have been revealed a very interesting designer sketch from Kia’s chief designer, Peter Schreyer. During his on-stage presentation, an image of mysterious Kia vehicle appeared on the back-screen.
Many believe that this was the very first sneak peak preview of Kia’s upcoming rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan, codenamed CH, which has been expected to hit the Korean market in late 2010 and will be positioned above the just recently launched Kia K7 luxury sedan.
The rumoured Kia K9 sedan is expected to share its rear-wheel-drive architecture with Hyundai Gensis sedan. It is also expected to be equipped with Hyundai-Kia’s all-new 8-speed automatic transmission which will soon be applied to the high-end Hyundai Equus luxury sedan.
If we speculate further, the K9 luxury sedan will likely feature similar engine line-up as its sibling model from Hyundai, but according to some reports from various Korean magazines, the automaker also plans to introduce a brand-new, high-performance 4.0L V8 engine in the K9 sedan.
Sometime ago, we published a leaked document that outlined the release dates of Kia’s upcoming vehicles. According to the document, the all-new CH should have been unveiled in September 2010, but recent rumours suggest its January 2011 release.

EUA e Coreia.

Não vem prá Europa. Tal como a Lexus no inicio. E porque? Pq nos States, principalmente, a noção de old money e new money não existe como aqui.

Como diz a música, if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.

New Kia K9 spy photos: V-8 powered Hyundai Genesis sibling

Today, we are bringing you a new series of Kia K9 spy shots thanks to the fellows from chagal.org. They have caught a heavily-camouflaged Kia luxury sedan while cruisingdown the highway near Seoul.
Kia K9 luxury sedan has been rumored for quite some time now and several reports have already been published by us and other automobile enthusiast sites in the past. With more spy shots starting to circulate on the interwebs, it is quite obvious that the model is entering the final evaluation phase where the last kinks are being ironed out by the Kia engineers.
Details regarding the new Kia K9 are fairly scarce at this point but rumors are claiming that the K9 will be riding on the same chassis that underpins the Hyundai Genesis and Equus luxury sedans. The highlights of the up-coming luxury sedan will be the all-new 5.0L V8 engine with gasoline direct injection -GDI technology (429 horsepower!) and 8-speed automatic transmission. A less potent V-6 engine option will also be available.
Other details around the K9 luxury sedan remain a mystery therefore we will have to wait a few more months to obtain more information regarding the Kia K9’s release date and its powertrain options

Segundo a notícia, o concept a ser apresentado em Frankfurt deverá ser relatvo ao K9, um coupé de 4 portas de grandes dimensões e tracção traseira.
Kia confirms RWD "coupé-like" concept, powertrain updates
Kia has its bags packed for Germany, because the automaker is reportedly planning to unveil a new concept car at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. According to Ward's Auto, Kia officials aren't calling it a coupe, but state the car will have "coupe-like" styling. Does that mean the Korean automaker is taking aim at theMercedes-Benz CLS-Class and Audi A7? Judging by the styling direction of its latest vehicles – the Optima, namely – we wouldn't be surprised.

Mum's the word on this Kia concept, but the report suggests that it will have rear-wheel-drive architecture and slot in size between the Hyundai Genesis and Equus. Our best guess? This is further confirmation that theKia K9 is getting ready to meet the world. The V8-powered, Peter Schreyer-designed four-door is expected to take the auto show stage in Germany, and we'll be there to bring you live photos if and when it does.

Besides word of a new model, Kia also has updates in store for its engines and transmissions. The 2.0-liter direct-injection four-cylinder unit making its way into the 2012 Soul is already being reworked. Engineers are squeezing more power while improving fuel efficiency thanks to a continuously variable valve timing system. Additionally, while automotive kissing cousin Hyundai is set to launch the Veloster with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, Kia insiders say more gears are already on the immediate horizon. A seven-speed DCT isn't far behind the six, with launch estimates pegged at two years time
