E aí anda a mula de testes?

The 2012 Ford Vertrek debuted at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show to mixed reactions: On the one hand, it was a stylish new compact crossover built on Ford's C-segment world platform. On the other hand, it was another compact crossover. At least this one looks cool, has decent aero (5 percent better than the Escape it will be replacing) and a 1.6-liter turbocharged and driectly injected (Ecoboost) motor.

And now, already, we have spy shots. Or rather we have what looks to be a current-gen Ford Kuga testing here in the United States, albeit one with a goofy nose plate riveted on and dual tailpipes that don't line up with the body's tailpipe holes. Looks like we have a Vertrek in a Kuga's body. In Boston parlance, that would be the equivalent of "we have a Red Sox catcher in an attractive middle-aged woman's body."

O Juke tem um design controverso, mas para o tempo a que foi lançado, acho que tenho visto bastantes...

Depois variantes derivadas de carros do segmento B sempre tiveram relativo sucesso, por ser algo diferente...Vejamos o Rover Streetwise, Polo Fun/Cross, etc.

Confesso que sempre achei muita graça a esta palhaçada.

Ford’s new Kuga is preparing to pounce! These are the first spy shots of the all-new version of the Blue Oval’s Kuga.

In line with the One Ford global car philosophy, the new crossover is being developed from the Vertrek concept shown at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year to replace both the Kuga and US market Escape.

The Kuga will be underpinned by the same basic platform as the new Focus and C-MAX, and will include a similar range of engines, including the 1.6- and 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrols, diesels and manual and Powershift twin clutch gearboxes.

Two- of four-wheel-drive will also be offered, which makes use of Ford’s torque vectoring control system for an impressive on-road drive.

Both the US market Escape and Kuga will feature the latest Kinetic Design cues taken from the Vertrek concept, including the narrow, swept-back headlights, furrows in the bonnet and sculpted tailgate.

On the inside, the dashboard is very similar to the new Focus and C-MAX, and will feature the upmarket kit from those cars, including quality trim materials, blue-lit dials and the SYNC system, which incorporates infotainment functions.

The new car’s look won’t be dissimilar to that offered by the current Kuga, but represents a huge step forward from the boxy Escape sold in the USA as Ford brings its American and European models into line and pushes forward with its global car philosophy.

The Kuga is due to be shown in production form at the Detroit show in 2012, before going on sale in the UK by April 2012.

Está prestes a chegar a apresentação.

Ford confirma la presentación en Los Ángeles del nuevo Escape (futuro Kuga)

Alegra esa cara, porque no tendrás que esperar al Salón de Detroit para conocer el rostro del nuevo Ford Escape, futuro Kuga Mk2 en Europa. El óvalo azul ha confirmado a través de uno de sus blogs que la nueva generación de su todocamino compacto será presentada el 17 de noviembre en el Salón de Los Ángeles, y no sólo eso, sino que además también ha comenzado a desglosar su gama mecánica.

La versión definitiva del Vertrek estará equipado al menos en Estados Unidos con tres motores distintos: un 2.5 Duratec como el del actual Escape, con 171 CV, y unos mucho más interesantes 1.6 y 2.0 Ecoboost con 180 y 247 CV siguiendo la homologación estadounidense. La fuerza de estos propulsores será encauzada al eje delantero o a las cuatro ruedas, según desee el comprador.


Ford, hasta donde se ha informado, prevé lanzar el nuevo Escape en EEUU bien entrado 2012, pero el Kuga, que no dejará de ser el mismo coche con otro nombre, no llegará a Europa hasta nada menos que 2013, cuando la factoría valenciana de Almussafes ya estará montándolo a todo ritmo.

2013 Ford Escape gets its own iPhone/iPad App while Jim Farley gets Twisty with a Prototype

The man you see pictured above lifting the skirt on the 2013 Ford Escape SUV is Jim Farley, FoMoCo's Vice President of Marketing and Communications who made headlines this past summer after he was quoted in a book saying that he wanted to beat Chevrolet on the head with bat – among other nice things, that is.
The teaser photo is part of the Ford social media team's efforts to create some additional buzz onthe brand-new Escape that will be officially unwrapped at next week's Los Angeles Auto Show.
To this end, Ford has been working with an Apple iPhone/iPad application called GoldRun through which it promises to offer exclusive teaser photos like the one above as well as videos of the 2013 Escape within the app before they are available anywhere else.

The company explains:
"From Nov 4-17, nationwide, we'll run a challenge that can be activated anywhere as long as it's on an iPhone or an iPad (with a camera). Each day, for a two-day window, we'll have a new puzzle that reveals a small image of the car or has to do with the new Escape.
Every other challenge will reveal a teaser video that shares more information about the new vehicle. Those who complete the final challenge will see a full reveal video and be entered to win a Living Social Escape (vacation) of their choice (up to $3,000)."
