Mercedes absolutely wants to sign Verstappen as a successor to Lewis Hamilton, who is moving to Ferrari, and is willing to do a lot for it. The interest is reflected in the fact that not only team boss Wolff, but also CEO Kaellenius and the British multi-billionaire Sir Ratcliffe are present at the meeting.
Money doesn't play a big role in this. The trio are said to be ready to prepare what may be the biggest deal in motorsport history for their dream driver. You don't even have to stretch yourself to the extreme in Stuttgart. Reason: Hamilton's salary of more than 50 million euros per year is available in 2025 as well as a reinvestment of the 104 million dollars profit that the German-British team was able to book in the 2023 financial year.
In addition, Mercedes wants to offer Verstappen a well-paid, long-term brand ambassador contract, which should bind the three-time world champion to the star even after his active career. INEOS owner and sports fan Sir James Ratcliffe (who has owned Manchester United since last year) also wants to loosen millions to get Verstappen. Ratcliffe is considered one of the five richest Britons. His net worth is estimated at $16.1 billion, according to the latest Forbes study. With bonuses and special payments, Verstappen could then earn about 150 million euros a year.

Onoro (empresário do Sainz):
Asked how many balls he is juggling at the moment, given how active the driver market has been, Onoro said:
A few, a few. Let’s say it’s an interesting period of time at the moment.
The driver market has been all over the place lately and I think we will see some movement in the upcoming weeks. But, for the moment, the juggling continues.
No, no, no. You can sleep well between China and Miami, don’t worry.
There will be no big news, at least coming from us – for sure not. We’re still playing the game, so we’ll see.

A saída é praticamente certa.
A decisive factor is said to have been his broken relationship with team boss Christian Horner, in the wake of the power struggle that took place earlier in the year following the allegations made against him by a female employee.
This came subsequent to previous tensions, including an interview published at the end of last year where Horner said Newey’s role had changed and that "the technical team under him, led by Pierre Waché, is doing a wonderful job so they are not dependent on Adrian."
Horner also explained that Manchester United did not go under when star striker Eric Cantona left the team.
That interview did not go down well with Newey and was apparently perceived by him as Horner wanting to make himself important and minimise the contribution of others to the team's success.
Newey's wife Amanda even shared the interview on Twitter and commented: "What a load of hogwash."
