Nestling an American V-8 in between the fenders of a curvaceous, low-volume European body shell is something of a time-honored tradition. Sadly, the practice has fallen out of favor somewhat, and our roads aren’t exactly bursting with Isos and Gordon-Keebles.
It’s a shame, really, as there’s still ample room for such creativity, as evidenced by this Anteros convertible. Based on Chevrolet Corvette running gear, the California-based clearly draws its inspiration from 1960’s European coupes.
The Anteros can be built on a C-6 or Z-06, and when supercharged, it is claimed to deliver 550 to 650 horsepower. Furthermore, with the standard Corvette’s performance pedigree and wellspring of aftermarket parts, the sky’s the limit, even after one takes delivery from Anteros.
The company has plans to debut both closed and targa versions of the car (XTR Hardtop and XTS Targa) at SEMA later this month. The XTR will be a Z06-based car with 650 horsepower, and the Targa variant with 550 horsepower will reportedly start at under $100,000. The Anteros convertible shown above actually debuted at SEMA last year, but this is the first time our young publication has come across it, so we’re sharing it with you now.
