"Ao mesmo tempo que anuncia o arranque da produção do novo motor 2.3 dCi para uso exclusivo nos veículos comerciais, a Renault também confirmou o início da produção do motor 1.6 dCi para o próximo ano.
Com o nome de código R9M, o novo bloco turbodiesel irá desenvolver 130 cavalos, pelo menos numa primeira fase, e terá o papel de substituir o «antiquado» 1.9 dCi. Está destinado aos modelos do segmento C (Mégane e Scénic) e segmento D (Laguna) e terá como principal curiosidade o facto de cumprir as normas de emissões Euro6.

Parece-me uma excelente relação potência/consumos/. Este motor quando sair concerteza que elevará as vendas destes dois modelos. No caso do laguna, parece-me que será uma excelente alternativa ao 2.0 dCi de 150cv.
A gama scénic também será bastante beneficiada, já que será um salto imenso em performances. A grand scénic, parece-me especialmente submotorizada para uma utilização familiar

A Renault apresentou as versões finais do Fluence Z.E e do Kangoo Express Z.E, com lançamento comercial marcado para 2011.

O Fluence Z.E. será o primeiro três volumes eléctrico do segmento C a ser vendido em série. Mede 4,75 metros de comprimento, o que equivale a mais 13 centímetros que a versão térmica, de modo a permitir a integração das baterias atrás dos bancos traseiros. Distingue-se, também, pelos retrovisores em preto brilhante, pelos frisos pintados da cor da carroçaria e pelas duas pequenas portas de acesso às tomadas que permitem o carregamento das baterias. A parte inferior do pára-choques traseiro tem um difusor para melhorar a aerodinâmica e as jantes contam com um desenho específico. É 100% eléctrico, com um motor do tipo síncrono com uma potência máxima de 70kW e um binário máximo de 226 Nm.

A versão eléctrica do Kangoo Express mantém as mesmas características que a versão térmica, como é o caso do volume de carga (entre 3 e 3,5 m3), e da capacidade de carga (650kg). O seu motor gera uma potência de 44 kw, produz um binário máximo de 226 Nm e é alimentado por uma bateria com uma capacidade energética de 22 kw/h, colocada sob o piso de carga.

Os interessados num destes veículos podem, a partir de hoje, fazer uma pré-reserva em Renault Z.E.. Basta fazer um registo no site e ter-se-á prioridade para ensaiar e encomendar um deles, em 2011.

Report: Renault shooting for 150-mile range electric vehicle by 2015

According to a report from Autocar, Renault expects to launch an electric vehicle (EV) with a range close to 150 miles by 2015. That's a 50 percent improvement over the 100-mile range listed for company's soon-to-be-released Zoe EV. The boost in driving range is believed to be achievable thanks to "chemical enhancements" coming soon for li-ion batteries. But wait, that's not all! The report also hints that Renault is actively developing experimental battery chemistries, possibly of the zinc-air or silver-zinc variety, and expects that by 2025, a 300-mile range EV will become a reality.

The Renault Zoe, which is positioned to become the automaker's best-selling electric, will enter production in 2012. The Zoe features a lithium-ion battery pack that provides juice to an 80 horsepower, 164 pound-feet of torque electric motor. The battery-powered hatch can scoot from 0-60 miles per hour in 8.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 84 mph. Renault is reportedly working on a high-output Gordini version of its electric hatch and is eying a 2013 launch date for the Zoe with more zing.

Renault 4 faz 50 anos em 2011

O Renault 4 completa 50 anos em 2011, uma efeméride que o construtor não quer deixar passar em branco.

Desenvolvido como uma proposta versátil e acessível, foi apresentado pela primeira vez ao público no Salão de Paris, em 1961. Naquele ano foram lançadas simultaneamente três versões: R3, R4 e R4L.

Seis anos após o seu lançamento, a produção do Renault 4 ultrapassou a meta do milhão de unidades fabricadas. No seu ciclo de vida de 31 anos, foram construídos um total de 8.135.424 exemplares.

No âmbito das comemorações dos 50 anos deste modelo, a marca francesa vai marcar presença em vários eventos: exposição Modulo 4, Rali de Monte Carlo, Rétromobile Classic Car Show, Reunião Internacional de 4L e Renault 4 Miss Sixty, entre outros.

Nissan, Volvo Trucks stake sale help French automaker

Renault SA forecast record sales in 2010 as government incentives spurred demand for the automaker's smaller models and its no-frills Dacia brand.

Sales this year will beat the 2005 high of 2.5 million vehicles, spokeswoman Caroline De Gezelle said. Renault also expects to record the industry's highest net income as a percentage of revenue, she said.

Renault will sell 2.6 million vehicles this year, Le Figaro reported, citing CEO Carlos Ghosn, but profits will come mainly from the sale of a stake in truckmaker Volvo and from partner Nissan Motor Co.

Renault expects 38 billion euros ($50.3 million) in revenue and net income of 3.3 billion euros in 2010, compared with a loss of 3 billion a year ago, the newspaper said, giving the carmaker an 8.7 percent margin.

Renault posted a 2 billion-euro gain from the October sale of a 15 percent Volvo AB stake.

Medium-term objectives to be announced next February include a 2013 operating-margin target between 4 percent and 5 percent, Le Figaro reported.

Ghosn said in September he intended to present new medium- term objectives with the company's full-year results on Feb. 10. The plan would be split into a first period with quantitative targets and a second with more qualitative goals, he said at the time.

Under a previous program introduced in 2006 and scrapped two years later, Ghosn had pledged to achieve a 6 percent operating margin and 3.3 million annual sales by last year.

Some cars are unfairly derided as "chick cars," like the Mini Cooper or the Mazda MX-5. Less so the Renault Twingo. While we're sure it's a good car for its class, it doesn't exactly ooze testosterone. Which is fine, of course, because not every car is targeted at male customers. But Renault takes things a step further.

In a controversial television commercial, the French automaker depicts a little girl-on-girl encounter for Italian audiences. One that we won't describe here, but invite you to watch (over and over again) in the video posted after the jump.

Now Renault's done some racy spots for the Twingo before – two of which we've also posted after the jump – so perhaps the more surprising part is that it's been banned from the airwaves. In Italy, of all places, by the media conglomerate owned by the country's philanderer-in-chief, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Bem malta Renault-lovers, ando a ver se encontro uma Kangoo de 2006 ou 2007, e o motor deverá ser o dci. Sei que há motores diferentes, alguém tem alguma opinião sobre qual devo preferir? Li sobre um motor de 70cv e outro com 85cv que por sinal até é mais económico.

Comparando com outras marcas, 1.4 HDI, 1.3CDTI, etc., faço bem em preferir o 1.5dci, tendo em conta que prefiro fiabilidade a performances?

Eu tive dois R 19 e não notei problemas de travagem em nenhum deles.

Eu também tive um r19 chamade e acho que aquilo não travava mal.
Agora se comparares a travagem de um carro recente com um r19, então aquilo não trava aquilo abranda.
Só tenho a dizer que era(no meu caso era porque o meu já foi para abate) um bom carro, digamos que quando veio para as minhas mãos levou um tratamento pouco aconselhável a qualquer carro, aquilo era só por gasolina e óleo que nunca falhava.
Já me esquecia, foi o primeiro carro que conduzi e tive depois de tirar a carta.

French intelligence services probe suspected Renault EV spying

Authorities will investigate China link, sources say

President Nicolas Sarkozy's office has asked France's DCRI intelligence service to probe suspected industrial espionage at carmaker Renault and is investigating a possible link with China, a government source told Reuters on Friday.

"The Elysee has charged the DCRI with an investigation. It is following a Chinese lead," the source said. Renault declined to comment.

Renault warned on Thursday that the automaker's strategic assets were at risk in suspected industrial espionage involving the automaker's flagship electric vehicle program.

A senior executive at the French automaker said the matter concerned people in "extremely strategic" positions.

"The investigation, which lasted several months, enabled us to identify a body of converging evidence demonstrating that three Group employees have committed misconduct that infringes Renault's ethics, consciously and deliberately endangering the company's assets," Christian Husson, General Counsel and Compliance Officer of Renault said in a statement on Thursday.

Renault has suspended three executives including a management committee member and two others suspected of leaking electric-car secrets.

The highest ranking of the three suspended executives is Michel Balthazard, vice president for advance engineering and a member of the management committee, two people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg News. In a report on Thursday, the Financial Times Deutschland named the other two executives as Bertrand Rochette and Matthieu Tenenbaum. The report added that all three executives work on important development projects at Renault's Technocentre in Guyancourt near Paris.

Renault is worried that its electric vehicle program, in which Renault with its partner Nissan is investing 4 billion euros ($5.3 billion), might be threatened. According to the French newspaper Le Monde, the suspected espionage relates to the batteries and propulsion system of Renault's electric vehicles.

Renault's new strategic plan, due to be unveiled in February, is expected to focus strongly on electric vehicles, as well as synergies with Nissan and emerging market growth.

French industry minister Eric Besson told journalists on Thursday he believed the matter was related to electric vehicles, adding he had taken early steps to step up protection.

"I have asked the economy ministry administration ... to strengthen the requirements for protection of companies that ask for state aid and financial contributions for innovation," he said.

Besson earlier told RTL radio the matter was serious: "It illustrates once again the risks our companies face in terms of industrial espionage and economic intelligence, as we call it today." The French state owns a 15 percent stake in Renault.

Two sources told Reuters the suspended employees could be dismissed soon if they are found to have leaked information.

"The internal investigation is continuing, but a decision should be made in the coming days," said one source close to the company. "In nine out of 10 cases, suspension (without pay) of this kind, is followed by a dismissal," he said.

A second source close to the company said: "Suspension of this kind (without pay) never lasts very long. I think unfortunately in the days to come, next week, action will be taken, if action is to be taken."

He added: "For the moment they have been accused, they have not been judged, they are suspected."

Possible 'carelessness'

One executive in the corporate intelligence-gathering industry, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters: "It's really difficult to say it's a case of corporate espionage ... It can be carelessness."

He cited a hypothetical example of an enthusiastic employee giving away too much information about his job on an online forum.

While information has always been passed and leaked, inadvertently or on purpose, the rise of the Internet and social media means corporate spies or careless employees are now more likely to be found out, he added.

Renault aims to become the first volume automaker to make electric vehicles available to the mass market and, with Japanese alliance partner Nissan Motor Co., is jointly investing 4 billion euros ($5.3 billion) in EV programs.

Renault plans to build more than 200,000 EVs a year by 2015-2016. This year, the automaker will launch three EVs in Europe -- the Fluence sedan, Kangoo delivery van and the two-seat Twizy. Nissan currently is rolling out its Leaf electric hatchback globally.
