Ora comparado com o 911, o SLK é um mero veículo de passeio na marginal. Mesmo o 55 AMG não se livra desse epíteto.

Agora, o SLS/SLC são mais para o "míssil de estrada". Tem o músculo, mas falta-lhes a elegância.

Basicamente o 911 é um carro único. Lambo e Ferrari são a coisa que mais se assemelha em estilo, mas isso é outra liga. 370Z anyone??

Algumas fontes alemãs especulam que sim, para rentabilizar o investimento efetuado. No entanto ainda não há informações oficiais que o confirmem.

Não terá portas Gullwing como o SLS e terá uma vasta aplicação de alumínio e outros materiais resistentes e leves como a fibra de carbono e plástico.

Baby SLS on its way

New details about the upcoming Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG have emerged, a car which will probably be out in 2015.
It's been a while since we last heard about the baby SLS, but now CAR has obtained new details about Mercedes' 911 rival. Codenamed internally "C190", the SLC AMG is set to use a revised version of the SLS' aluminum space frame architecture. Sources suggest it will lose the gullwing doors in order to shave off weight and improve body stiffness. Initially, it will be available exclusively as a coupe, but a roadster version could be considered.

The 1,550 kg (3,417 lbs) car will be launched with a new V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine producing 485 hp (362 kW) and 500 lb-ft (677 Nm). This version will cost about 80,000 GBP (93,164 EUR or 126,568 USD).

The SLC S will cost around 115,000 GBP (134,145 EUR or 181,493 USD) and include a performance pack with carbon-ceramic brakes, bucket seats and a tuned V8 engine generating 585 hp (436 kW) and 553 lb-ft (749 Nm) of torque. Both V8 variants will feature a dual-clutch, 7-speed transmission with shorter final drive ratio and a limited slip differential.
The entry-level variant will have a 333 hp (248 kW) 3.0-liter V6 engine and will be available later on in 2016. The base V6 model is expected to cost 70,000 GBP (81,653 EUR or 110,747 USD).

A Mercedes-Benz official has declared during the Geneva Motor Show a concept previewing the SLS replacement will be shown "very soon".
The concept could be hinting at the long-rumored SLC which apparently is due in 2015 according to latest rumors. Some say the new model will literally be a replacement as Mercedes-Benz plans a different car with a new name. Chances are it will be smaller and lighter than theSLS AMG Black Series in order to compete with the Porsche 911.
Reports are suggesting the car will be available with a V6 3.0-liter engine producing 333 hp (248 kW) and a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter with 485 hp (362 kW). These two engines will be connected to a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox and a limited slip differential.
Mercedes-Benz plans several versions of the new model to make it more competitive in the performance-car segment and could cost from 80,000 GBP (120,500 USD or 92,600 EUR) to 120,000 GBP (180,000 USD or 139,000 EUR).

The rumor mill is back in action as new details are starting to emerge about the Mercedes SLC.
Designed to replace the SLS AMG, the SLC is envisioned as an affordable sports car that can battle the Porsche 911. It will reportedly ride on an aluminum space frame and be available exclusively as a coupe.

Engine options remain unconfirmed butAutobild says to expect three different powerplants. The entry-level model will reportedly have a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 485 HP (357 kW). Moving up to the S variant should reward owners with 550 HP (404 kW), while the range-topping Black Series model could crank out 585 HP (430 kW).
The SLC will reportedly be launched in 2016 and have a base price of approximately €109,000 ($141,000 / £93,375).

Em 2016 a Mercedes pretende trazer um novo carro desportivo para o mercado, destinado a competir especialmente com o Porsche 911. O GT irá substituir os emblemáticos SLS anteriores, cuja produção irá expirar no final de 2015.
O GT será alimentado por um motor de quatro litros, bi-turbo V8 Série M 177.

O Mercedes GT é significativamente mais barato do que o SLS. O modelo básico com 485cv vai custar cerca de 109.000€.
Ao mesmo tempo, a Mercedes também lançará uma versão S, que virá com 550cv e irá custar cerca de 145.000€.
Comparados com os SLS, ambos os modelos serão cerca de 150 quilos mais leves. Ainda surgirá o Mercedes Black Series GT com 585cv.

Mercedes-Benz has begun testing its Porsche 911 rival, which will be the successor to the SLS AMG.
Instead of replacing the existing SLS with a like-for-like model, the new car will be smaller in order to allow it to more readily compete with thePorsche 911.
Both coupé and cabriolet models of the front-engined, rear-drive SLS successor are set to be offered, with a mooted price tag of between £80,000 and £120,000. Originally thought to be badged the SLC, it is now understood that the model will not have an 'SL' prefix.

Set for a launch in late 2015, the new sports car is hoped to help Mercedes appeal to a wider market. Codenamed C190, it is predicted to sport a more contemporary appearance than the retro-inspired SLS as part of the new Mercedes push to attract younger buyers.
“It is important that it appeals to the youth crowd, even though in all likelihood it will be bought by older customers,” a senior design source at Mercedes revealed.

Officials claim that the new model gets a distinctive swept-back silhouette, while dimensionally it is as wide as the SLS AMG but shorter. It won't have the gullwing doors of the SLS AMG, but instead will be fitted with conventional front-hinged doors.

No powertrain options have been confirmed but it is likely that the new C190 uses AMG's new twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, which will also see service in the replacement for the C63 AMG. The transmission is expected to be a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle unit.
AMG boss Ola Källenius has dismissed rumours of a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 for a base version of the upcoming model. “The V8 engine commands cult status at AMG,” he said. “It is what our customers demand.”

Initial reports estimate a kerb weight for the new C190 of 1480kg, with 220kg of that reputedly consisting of an aluminium body supplied by manufacturing company Magna. The engine will be mounted far back in car's engine bay, helping optimise its weight distribution.
It's rumoured that the manufacturer has been benchmarking the car against the Aston Martin Vantage as well as the 911, due to its similar layout.

The new two-seater will be the second stand-alone model to be created by Mercedes’ AMG performance arm, after the SLS.
Previously, sources suggested that the current SLS AMG had several years left to run; it's not yet clear if the new car will be built alongside or instead of the current SLS AMG.

Pois é, parece que o C190 (nome de código deste "SLC") foi apanhado pelas câmaras fotográficas acompanhado do GT-R. As fotos foram tiradas no 'Ring, continuando o modelo da marca alemã com bastante camuflagem.

O desenho vai ser menos retro, sendo mais jovial, de modo a atrair clientela mais jovem (que não vou ser eu, devido ao preço a que o carro será lançado ), atraindo, ainda assim, a clientela com mais idade, já cliente da marca, que quer um carro com um ar mais jovem (pessoal a atravessar a crise de meia idade, vá ). As portas deste carro serão convencionais, não adoptando o estilo das do SLS AMG.

Ainda é desconhecido o posicionamento deste desportivo na gama da marca, sendo falado que poderá substituir o SLS AMG, o que não parece fazer muito sentido, já que se espera que custe metade do preço deste último, apesar de assentar na mesma plataforma.

O motor deverá ser um V8 biturbo com 600 cv, podendo existir um V6 turbo na entrada da gama.

O coupé, possível concorrente do Porsche 911, que vinha sendo apelidado de SLC, tem lançamento previsto para 2015.

O substituto do SLS AMG (na imagem), conhecido internamente pelo nome de código C190, chamar-se-á AMG GT. Segundo a Car & Driver, este “baby” SLS será mais pequeno e leve, recorrendo a uma versão adaptada da plataforma do SLS AMG. Além disso, este potencial concorrente do Porsche 911 será significativamente mais barato que o antecessor.

Quanto a motores, há informações por confirmar, contudo, o novo desportivo da marca de Estugarda deverá contar com os préstimos do motor V8 4.0 biturbo com opções de 485 cv e 550 cv. Há ainda a possibilidade de uma versão topo de gama Black Series com 585 cv.

SLS AMG due for retirement next year, new £100,000 Mercedes SLS replacement due to go on sale in 2015

The SLS replacement, codenamed C190, has been spotted undergoing testing in Europe

These latest spy shots show that Mercedes-Benz’s AMG performance car division is putting the finishing touches to its new 493bhp twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 flagship sports car, which will replace the Mercedes SLS, nine months before it is scheduled to be revealed at next year’s German grand prix.

Developed under the codename C190, the new two-seater has been conceived to replace the four-year-old SLS at the head of the German manufacturer’s line-up when that car is retired in July next year.

The new model aims to challenge the heady performance, lofty dynamics and everyday driving appeal of the latest Porsche 911 Turbo at a price, insiders suggest, that will be close to £100,000 when UK sales begin in early 2015.

Originally tipped to receive the SLC name first used by the SL coupé in 1971, the new front-engined sports car is now expected to be called GT, according to highly placed sources at Mercedes-Benz. The sources confirm the new car will be assembled on the same production line used for the soon-to-be-discontinued SLS at AMG’s headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany.

The basis for the Mercedes-Benz GT AMG is a predominantly aluminium spaceframe chassis, elements of which are shared with that employed by the SLS. It is allied to suspension consisting of double wishbones up front and multi-links at the rear, featuring variable damping along with a raft of electronic driver aids. The body uses a combination of aluminium and composite panels.

The GT follows the SLS’s lead in boasting a distinctive cab-back profile with a long probing bonnet and short rear deck, proportions dictated by the original SL. But in a bid to improve usability and appeal to a broader group of prospective customers, the new Mercedes-Benz adopts conventional front-hinged doors in place of the SLS’s gullwings.

Another key change in design is the adoption of a liftback-style rear hatch, enabling easier access to the luggage compartment than a conventional boot. As with the SLS, an electronically controlled spoiler deploys from the rear of the boot lid to provide added downforce at speeds above 75mph.

Preliminary figures put length at 4500mm, which suggest that the new GT will be 140mm shorter than the SLS. Width and height are close to those of the SLS at 1939mm and 1287mm respectively. It rolls on standard-issue 19-inch wheels shod with 265/35 front and 295/30 rear tyres

The GT eschews both the naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 engine found in the SLS and twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 mill that powers other AMG models to become the first Mercedes-Benz to host a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre modular V8.

The new engine, also set to appear in a successor to the C63 AMG, shares its architecture with the turbocharged 2.0-litre in-line four-cylinder engine used in the recently introduced A45 and CLA45. Endowed with a 90deg cylinder bank angle, the V8 is mounted low and 
well back in the engine bay, almost entirely behind the front axle line for the best possible weight distribution.

Official output figures are yet to be disclosed, but AMG insiders have indicated that the new engine has been tuned to deliver somewhere in the region of 493bhp, yielding a specific output of 123bhp per litre. This pitches the GT’s output into the same territory as the Porsche 911 Turbo, which generates 514bhp.

Despite giving away over two litres in engine capacity to the SLS, the application of forced induction sees the GT’s torque reserves swell to a similar level at 480lb ft. But while peak torque for the SLS arrives at a relatively high 4750rpm, the GT will deliver maximum twist below the 2000rpm mark.

These heady reserves are channeled via a lightweight carbonfibre propeller shaft to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox mounted within the rear axle assembly, a layout that helps to provide the GT with a 48 per cent front, 52 per cent rear weight distribution. A mechanical locking differential is then used to apportion drive between the rear wheels.

The gearbox is described as being a development of the Getrag-produced unit used in the SLS. It has been upgraded to include an automatic stop-start function for added fuel savings in city driving. Brake energy recuperation is used to boost driveline efficiency, while new software mapping is claimed to improve the quality of gear changes.

With a predominantly aluminium structure and other lightweight construction measures helping to suppress kerb weight to around 1550kg (which is 145kg less than the SLS) the GT is claimed to yield a power-to-weight ratio of close to 320bhp per tonne.

Straight-line performance is yet to be officially certified, but Mercedes-Benz sources hint at a 0-62mph time of “well under 4.0sec” and a top speed “above 190mph”. At the same time, they claim the new two-seater will return combined-cycle fuel consumption of “close to 30mpg”.

Mercedes-Benz’s AMG division has left no stone unturned in its bid to provide the C190 with class-leading dynamics. The chassis, while sharing components with the SLS, boasts unique geometry. The new Mercedes-Benz 
sports car also adopts an electro-mechanical steering system that’s sourced from the new C-class and replaces the hydraulic set-up used by 
its predecessor.

In a move that has infuriated rival Porsche, AMG has secured the services of Markus Hofbauer, the man credited with much of the chassis development carried out on the latest 911. He has been charged with the task of fine-tuning the handling of the GT, which is already said to lap the Nürburgring circuit faster than the standard SLS.
