From the terraced vineyards to riverside sun, the BUGATTI Grand Tour Portugal 2025 began in majestic style. In the heart of the Douro Valley, 18 W16-powered BUGATTI hyper sports cars roared to life, setting off on a six-day adventure covering more than 1,000 kilometers.
On a thrilling journey through remote, winding mountain roads with barely another car in sight, the BUGATTI drivers experienced spectacular curves and unforgettable views. With every bend, a new landmark came into view. From a tranquil coffee stop deep in Portugal's backcountry to a scenic lunch at the UNESCO-listed Torel Quinta da Vacaria, owners were treated to a story of performance and Portuguese beauty.
Testing Bugatti’s most extreme car over 200mph!
He’s over in Belgium at the Spa Francorchamps circuit, and he’s about to get up close and personal with a Bugatti Bolide!
The Bolide is a track-only hypercar that’s based on the Chiron, and it’s an absolute force of nature! But what exactly is different to the road-going Chiron?
To start, it features a bespoke chassis. The engine is mounted 60mm further forward than the Chiron, and the engine mounts are 3x stronger. Several components are also 3D printed in titanium, including the exhaust tips. As a result, they weigh less than 750kg! What’s more, the engine has been remapped to allow for maximum torque between 2,250RPM and 7,000 RPM.
Speaking of the engine, this is one area that has remained the same. The Bolide is powered by the 8-litre quad-turbo W16 that produces 1,600hp and 1,600Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The car is lighter than the Chiron, weighing just 1,450 kg dry. If you consider the weight of fluids as well, the Bolide is looking at a power-to-weight ratio of 1,000hp per tonne!
The Bolide costs an eye-watering £4,200,000 after tax, and only 40 units will be produced! The question is, is this the perfect car to take on the track? Or would you rather drive something else instead? You’ll need to stick with Mat to find out!
