Bem e agora uma descrição do que é um V8 Vantage, retirada de um tópico, no forum do AMOC, sobre comentários a respeito do carro:
"Once again, I turn for comfort to my favorite automotive scripture, Dan Neil's column in the
LA Times, wherein it is written in his review of the V8:
"... If crossbows fired bolts of molten envy, this is what the projectile would look like. Set deep in its stance, malevolently wide and low with a squinting greenhouse, the car is so dastardly looking it should be twirling a mustache. ... As compared with the elegantly attenuated [DB9], the V8 Vantage looks fierce, clenched in four-fisted rage. Evil, EVIL, I tell you! If you sell your soul to the devil, this is the car you get as a signing bonus. At night, when the headlamps' star-white LED marker lights and lava-red LED tail lamps are aglow, the mere sight of the V8-V will knock crows off power lines and cause pregnant cats to throw their litters."
I couldn't have said it better myself. In fact, I couldn't possibly say it as well. The V8V leaves a whiff of sulphur in its wake, not Arpege. Girlie car? Hardly. "

"My wife and I went to a black tie affair this past weekend. While this is not my usual thing (I had us on the schedule for a friend's backyard BBQ party), but it's sometimes fun to play dress up and it was a charity event so, ok, let's go. Good fun.
It was held at very nice hotel downtown. I gave the valet my keys as he said, "we'll keep it up front for you sir." Great. In we go, dinner drinks, dancing, nice time, etc. When we come out, there's the car right up front as promised. After 30 seconds or so of furtive jostling in the valet stand, one of the valets shuffles over with an embarrassed look on his face. As he hands me the keys he says,
"I'm sorry sir, would you mind walking over to your car? After we closed the door, we couldn't figure out how to get back in."
(I'm absolutely serious.)"
E agora alguém que vive no Dubai e tem um V8 Vantage, a sua apreciação sobre o carro após quase um ano e cerca de 20000 Km!!!
"Hi,
I’ve had my Vantage for 11 months, and I did not want to post anything until I crossed the 20,000KM mark, where I will have a complete understanding of the car’s capabilities, reliability, and other ownership concerns.
I live in Dubai, which is the ultimate place to test such a car in terms of harsh weather (heat up to 50C and humidity in the 90%, and the occasional sand storms), in addition to good road, crazy drivers, and allot of car enthusiasts.
My overall judgment of the car is 9/10, it is perfect in many ways, the looks, the drive, the handling, the interior, the exclusivity (even in Dubai), the reliability, and the performance.
Over the past 11 months, I‘ve had minor workshop issues with the car:
- Change Alcantara trim above my head because it changed color.
- Change the gear stick because there was glue coming out from day one.
- Change break pads during the 15,000KM service
- Fix gear, where 5 & 6 would not engage, it was a minor issue fixed in hours.
Here are my top 5 and worst 5 in the car:
Top 5 (not in this order):
- The exclusivity; for every 50 Porsche or 20 Ferraris or Lambos you see one Vantage.
- The Handling; It is magical; nothing feels like it, especially on the track. I was racing against top Ferraris and Lambos and they were amazed of what the car can do, and it can do it in style.
- The looks; it turns head, every time everywhere, I was in a car event recently and the Vantage attracted a large crowd despite of all the Lambos, Ferraris, Bentleys GTs and a Bugatti Vernon.
- The Sound; the Music, and Growl, Fuse 22. Nothing sound as good as the Vantage.
- The Stereo, You have to hear it to appreciate it, weather is easy listening or Loud earth moving music.
Bottom 5 (not in this order):
- The Power; It is slightly underpowered, 380 bhp just is not enough, I am hoping with the Pro-drive upgrade to 425 or mtm planned supercharge to 500+ will take this problem away.
- The Gear; there is something unsatisfying something with the gear, it is not as smooth as you like it to be, and it is very heavy when the car is cold.
- The Breaks; they are too soft creating allot of dust which means goodbye to clean wheels. You drive for one mile and wheels are black
- The luxury bits, like keyless entry, integrated key and lock, adjustable suspension..etc
- Navigation System, no street maps (for Dubai); it is frustrating to have the navigation system and you can’t use it because someone somewhere has not finished his work.
Here are some photos posted from a recent “Car life Style Event” called Arab Run held in Dubai, where they gathered the best 100 (65 showed up) exotic cars and we had a full day of Parading, on track and partying.
