São necessários 14 segundos para deixar os passageiros deste Aston Martin de cabelos ao vento, sendo possível fazê-lo até uma velocidade de 48 km/h. A marca revelou os detalhes do segundo cabrio da gama, o DBS Volante, que exibirá no Salão de Genebra, já no início do próximo mês.
Para Ulrich Bez, chefe do departamento de design, «o DBS Volante oferece a experiência de condução mais descontraída, tanto com o tecto aberto, como fechado», combinando «a excelência da engenharia com a perfeição do design». O descapotável britânico conta com um V12, de 5935 cc, a debitar 510 cv de potência às 6500 rpm e 570 Nm de binário às 5750 rpm. A marca anuncia 4,3 seg. na aceleração dos 0 aos 100 km/h e uma velocidade máxima de 307 km/h.
O DBS Volante oferece caixa manual de seis velocidades, com a automática Touchdown, também de seis relações, na lista de opcionais. Existem componentes em fibra de carbono para reduzir o peso, como o capot, spoiler frontal e aileron traseiro, e o poder de travagem conta com os discos de composto de cerâmica, um conjunto fornecido de série.
As jantes em liga leve e 20 polegadas calçam pneus Pirelli P Zero e a suspensão adaptativa conta com o modo mais desportivo Track. A parceria entre a Aston Martin e os dinamarqueses da Bang & Olufsen é já conhecida, por isso o DBS Volante vem equipado com um sistema áudio de 13 altifalantes e «BeoSound DBS», permitindo uma qualidade sonora de nível, mesmo com a capota recolhida, com o sistema a fazer as devidas compensações para manter a alta fidelidade.

“We wanted to create something that wows you as much when you see what’s under the skin as the exterior styling itself, explains Porritt. We started by identifying the most technologically exciting front-engined, rear-wheel drive cars in the world: those from the DTM race series. We then applied the principles and technology that feature heavily in their design and translated it to a road car application.”
This means an engine that’s mounted 100mm lower and 257mm further back than any previous V12-engined Aston Martin. The DTM-inspired layout also extends to the suspension, which features double wishbones at each corner, with pushrods employed to transfer vertical suspension movements to the horizontally mounted spring/damper units. These are attached inboard of the front and rear wheels on intricately machined blocks of high-grade aluminium. It’s pure racing technology with the added beauty of the finest levels of road car manufacturing and detailing.
The dampers are equally trick, featuring fully adjustable Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve (DSSV) technology, which is a world-first for a road car application. These special valves are state-of-the-art even at the highest levels of motorsport, and use high-precision machined components to enable the shock-absorbing characteristics of the damper to be changed without having to remove them from the car, as is the norm. Such is the precision and ease with which these dampers can be adjusted, every car will be set-up according to the owner’s wishes during by one of Aston’s chassis engineers.
