Hannah Schmitz talks about being a woman in F1

Hannah Schmitz, chief strategy engineer at Red Bull Racing since 2021, talks about the presence of women in F1, in an interview with femalesinmotorsport.com. The strategist has been with the Red Bull team for almost 15 years. She says:
"It was difficult being one of the first women to sit on the pit wall.” The 2019 Brazilian GP is one of the British strategist's best memories. Valtteri Bottas had to stop his car with hydraulic problems and the Red Bull pit wall panicked. Schmitz made the final decision: “I think we should stop in the pits,” Schmitz recalled.
“Normally, you know what you’re going to do in a Safety Car before it’s even launched. And at that particular time, we were talking about it and no one had committed in any way.” Thanks to Schmitz's decision, Verstappen came in to fit new soft tires. This decision led to the Dutchman's victory.
“When you watch the podium, you think it's a pretty quick ceremony,” explains Schmitz. “But actually, standing there, trying to understand that you are there because of a decision you made… It was an incredible honor. It was an incredible feeling.” Schmitz advocates diversity in sports.
“People are proud to show what they do and help encourage women and girls to stay in sport.” “And there are so many exciting careers for them… There are so many incredible women in motorsport. I’m very happy to help represent that.”
