2014 Bentley GT Speed é o Bentley mais rápido de produção, de sempre - Genebra 2014

Bentley has taken the wraps off the 2014 GT Speed Coupe and Convertible at the Geneva Motor Show.Modestly revised, the updated models gain a monotone appearance thanks to body color paint on the front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser. The cars have also been equipped with tinted head- and taillights, red brake calipers and new “Speed” badging on the front fenders. Other changes include a "lowered and stiffened suspension" and 21-inch alloy wheels with a dark finish.
Interior changes are limited but there's a GT Speed exclusive "color split" and newly optional contrast stitching through the diamond quilting of the seats and doors.
Under the hood, the 6.0-liter W12 engine has been massaged to develop 635 HP (467 kW) and 820 Nm (605 lb-ft) torque - an increase of 10 HP (7 kW) and 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) of torque. Detailed performance specifications were not released but Bentley said the coupe has a top speed of 206 mph (331 km/h) while the convertible maxes out at 203 mph (327 km/h).

Bentley vai construir motores W12 para Audi e Volkswagen

Bentley will build Volkswagen Group's W12 engines for sister brands Volkswagen and Audi starting next year, the British ultraluxury automaker said today.Bentley's base in Crewe, northwest England, will become a ''center of excellence'' for W12 engines, which are used in Bentley models, Audi's flagship A8 sedan and the VW Phaeton.
W12 engines for Audi and VW are currently built in VW's engine plant in Salzgitter, Germany.
Bentley's Crewe plant builds the 6.0-liter W12 engine for its Continental GT coupe, Continental GTC convertible and Flying Spur limousine. Its new SUV will also get the engine.
The additional production will increase W12 engine production in Crewe to 9,000 a year in 2017/18 and create 100 jobs, Bentley said. The new engines will be Euro 6 emissions compliant, a spokesman said. Last year Bentley made nearly 5,000 W12 engines.
W12 engines are powerful but compact powerplants with 12 cylinders and a W-shaped layout.

Bentley Mulsanne Hybrid Concept: - Salão de Pequim 2014

There are many things well-heeled buyers can add to Bentley’s massive and opulent Mulsanne luxury barge. Options like the “Entertainment Specification” (electrically deployed rear-seat tables and iPad mounts), the “Comfort Specification” (pillows and footrests for rear-seat passengers), and the “Premiere Specification” (mood lighting, stainless-steel trim, backup camera, massaging front and rear seats, and more), all bring more stuff and more mass.

The last Mulsanne we tested nearly crushed our scales with its 6036-pound curb weight, so it needs additional mass like it needs a hole in the head. But that is why Bentley’s Hybrid concept, which essentially is a Mulsanne fitted with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, might just be the most decadent ride from Crewe yet. If bigger is better in the world of hyper-luxury sedans, then the Hybrid concept clearly is the best Bentley has to offer.

Drive A Prius? Do We Look Penniless?
In case you missed it, there is a fundamental shift occurring in the engineering rooms of luxury- and sports-car makers: Fuel efficiency and carbon footprints are being treated with the same consideration as stitch designs and horsepower numbers. Just look at the latest crop of hypercars from McLaren, Ferrari, and Porsche—they’re all hybrids—as well as the hybrid version of the Mercedes-Benz S-class and thePorsche Panamera S E-Hybrid. The rich want to flaunt their wealth, per usual, but they also want to cruise emissions-regulated city centers like London without getting eggs lobbed at them by eco-activists.

In order to avoid raising the ire of hippies everywhere, the rich need electric power, and Bentley’s joining the chorus of manufacturers looking to offer them just that. Ironically, this eco-push means adding weight, the enemy of fuel efficiency, driving dynamics, and common sense, but don’t tell the tree-huggers. Bentley isn’t saying how much weight its plug-in hybrid gear adds to the Mulsanne’s already substantial heft, but a few hundred pounds wouldn’t be an outrageous guess.

Also unknown is exactly what the plug-in hybrid’s layout is—we asked, but Bentley isn’t telling, at least not yet—but it’ll be paired with the Mulsanne’s twin-turbocharged “6 ¾” liter V-8. Another secret is how much juice the Hybrid concept’s battery pack can hold; Bentley claims the Mulsanne can whir about on electrons alone for up to 31 miles, and that total output is 25 percent greater than in the regular 505-hp Mulsanne. Bentley claims that the Hybrid concept cuts 70 percent of emissions, so maybe all that added poundage isn’t such a bad thing after all.

Speaking of Pennies, Forget About Copper’s Connection to Those Lowly Coins
Aside from the plug-in hybrid gear, Bentley has further separated this Mulsanne from the rest with a comprehensive copper upgrade. (We’re quite fond of the ironic juxtaposition between this Bentley’s polar-bear-friendly image and its over-use of a metal that requires harmful mining to extract from the earth.) Most of the exterior trim—headlight bezels, grille surround, badging, etc.—is rendered in copper, while the interior gets gorgeous copper accents in the gauge cluster and instrument panel. We’re absolutely in love with the concentric copper rings in the speedometer and power/regeneration gauges that resemble an electric motor’s armature, as well as the copper-tinged, analog steampunk battery-charge gauge next to the fuel gauge.

The copper treatment is unique and absolutely screams money, so we hope it carries over to the plug-in hybrid production car Bentley plans to release in 2017. That car, a version of the brand’s upcoming SUV using this concept’s system, likely will be joined by hybridized versions of other Bentleys shortly thereafter. The company’s CEO, Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, says that “by the end of the decade, at least 90 percent of [Bentley’s] production will be available as a plug-in hybrid.” That sounds impressively ambitious—and a whole lot better than saying the vast majority of Bentley’s products are in for a substantial weight gain.

Bentley Continental GT3-R - Goodwood 2014

A hardcore version of Bentley’s Continental GT has been hinted at since 2011 but the possibility of the luxury cruiser being turned into a track weapon never really seemed plausible until a racing version of the car was revealed last year. Now, the Continental GT race car has spawned a road-going version: the new Bentley Continental GT3-R.

The Bentley Continental GT3-R is described as the “most dynamic” of the Continental GT range, suggesting that it is more capable than even the Continental GT Speed and the former Continental Supersports. But there isn’t a big 12-cylinder under the hood as found in those aforementioned vehicles, with a lighter and more responsive V-8 getting the nod instead. This makes sense as this is the option used in the Continental GT race car.

The engine is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 common to the Continental GT V8, and in its latest application delivers 572 horsepower and 518 pound-feet of torque. Working with a weight reduction of 220 pounds and an eight-speed transmission with shorter gearing, the engine will rocket the Bentley coupe from 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, making this the fastest-accelerating production Bentley ever. The curb weight is 4,839 pounds.

Unlike the race car, which features a rear-wheel-drive layout, the Continental GT3-R maintains the Continental GT’s all-wheel-drive system although it also features torque vectoring at the rear axle. The car’s electronic stability system and chassis has also been tuned for improved handling, in line with the car’s “most dynamic” billing.

Some of the modifications include air springs and dampers from the sporty Continental GT V8 S model, 21-inch light alloys shod with grippy Pirelli tires, and carbon ceramic brake discs with massive eight-piston calipers up front. The Continental GT3-R also features a vented hood, carbon accents around the body and a fixed rear spoiler.

As we’re still talking about a Bentley road car, plenty of luxury can be found within. While the rear seats have been removed to save weight, the front two benefit from additional side support through deeper bolsters. They are also lined in leather and Alcantara, and matching trim can be found on the steering wheel and gear lever.

The center console and fascia panels are made from carbon fiber, and the lightweight material is also used to create sculpted door casings that also include diamond-quilted Alcantara panels. Finally, GT3-R badging can be found on the center console and door sills, while the seats receive GT3-R stitching to the headrests in a bright green thread.

The new Bentley Continental GT3-R makes its official debut at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed running from June 26-29. Production will be limited to just 300 units, and the vehicle is yet to be confirmed for U.S. sale.
