Volvo-owned Polestar recently tested the crash safety of its newest vehicle, the Polestar 2. Tests indicated that the electric sedan has high levels of safety, matching its equally impressive performance standards and living up to parent company Volvo’s rigorous safety standards.

NEW HAVAL H6 PASSES THE MOST RIGOROUS ROLLOVER TEST

On October 13, 2017, the most rigorous open rollover test for a Chinese SUV was carried out in the Real Car Collision Laboratory of the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) in Tianjin for the first time. New Haval H6, meeting all the indicators, manifests its superior safety performance as a SUV leader.

Compared with tests in Europe and the United States, this test is more rigorous in standards, more comprehensive in content, and more adaptable to roads all over the world. The test, attracting extraordinary attention of the public, was attended by hundreds of people including industrial experts, media and consumers who witnessed the test of New Haval H6 and result releasing on site.

The Chinese standards put safety first.

CATARC initiated its study on rollover associated safety of the Chinese domestic brand automobiles in 2015. The ground of test is set as asphalt concrete pavement according to the condition of real highway situations. The test standards are more rigorous and advanced than those in Europe and the United States. The test features faster initial rollover speed of 50 km/h and increasing mass with one more dummy added, resulting in a more intense rollover. The test becomes more comprehensive with another H3 5% dummy (Short adult female figure) added on the passenger seat. In this way, it is possible to assess the safety performance of the automobile for passengers of different body types and locations.
The test car is randomly selected from commercial automobiles of mass production. At the test site, the New Haval H6 was pushed at a speed of 49.8 km/h by the rolling machine, and then it rolled for three and a half rounds on the asphalt concrete pavement specially laid.

After the test, as suggested by the final results released by CATARC, the New Haval H6 performed well in the four tests. As the body structure remains complete and the constraint system plays its role rapidly and effectively, all parts of the dummy remain within the cabin. With damage probability of such key parts of the passengers as head and neck below 10%, and rescue after an accident will not be hindered.

Body structure serves as the first guard for rollover associated safety of a vehicle. The vehicle model with panoramic sunroof, one of the most popular ones in the Chinese market, is selected for the test. Although it is widely thought that a sunroof is regarded as a weakness by lowering body strength, the high strength steel body of the New Haval H6 with laser welding technology remains complete in the test. Doors kept closed and no visible crush or bending is found in the A/pillar and B/pillar.

Constraint system plays a major role in fixing and protecting passengers in the rollover process. In the rollover test of the Haval H6, all the body parts of the two dummies remain within the cabin, and seats have showed no failure including reverse, overturn and slip; the seat belt warning device has worked to constraint passengers on the seat effectively in the moment when the automobile hit the ground; the air curtain and side airbag for both the driver and assistant driver have been inflated in time to prevent the damage hurt caused by the strike between head and body and the automobile rigid structure.

Passenger's damage value shows the damage probability. As shown by the data collected from the dummy, the head and neck damage probability for the driver is 0.3% and 5.3% respectively, while those for the assistant driver are 0.3% and 6.9%. The risk is low, proving that the new Haval H6 is effective in protecting its passengers.
As to the rescue work after rollover, all the doors of the New Haval H6 can be opened without hassle. The constraint system is not locked, the seat belt can be opened normally, and there is no sign of fuel tank leakage, which prevents a fire risk after rollover.

Haval plays a leading role in safety, fulfilling its promise with its strength

The core value of Haval, putting safety first, is important in making it the choice for nearly 4 million customers. The vice president of Great Wall Motor, Samuel Chen said at the test site that: "We have applied the most rigorous technological standard and safety collision evaluation system meeting the global market's requirement, to build Haval, the most valuable SUV brand in the world".

Haval's emphasis on safety can be told from its resources input. It has invested RMB 5 billion around (R10 billion) to build the largest world-class automobile R&D technological center in China, with the construction area of 260,000 m[SUP]2[/SUP]. Also, Great Wall has formed the 3D safety design concept of "safety of passengers, pedestrians and body structure" since 2010, established the safety R&D technological system based on the scientific combination of virtual design and experimental validation, made innovative use of collision safety performance development process. Targeted on the New Haval H6, over 80 safety conditions covering passengers, pedestrians and body structure have been taken into consideration and more than 5000 virtual simulation analyses have been conducted, which have helped the new Haval H6 to reach the goal of safety performance in the first round model collision test.

The Great Wall Motor's current safety test can meet the requirements in both China and the EU, even part of the laws and regulations of the US and NCAP. In the New Haval H6, a new "armor safety system" is introduced. In addition, it is also equipped with high-performance four-wheel ventilated brake disc rarely seen in the same class model, as well as the Bosch 9[SUP]th[/SUP] generation ESP. At the same time, a series of safety facilities are equipped like ABS+EBD, HDC, EBA, visible right front blind area and SAHR.
Haval H6 is a popular car, and with its cumulative sales having surpassed 2 million units in September. Its great market share has not only revitalized China's SUV market as well as the passenger car market, but also attracted the world's attention to China's manufacturing as an independent brand in the SUV field.

The Thar achieved four stars for adult and child occupant protection. The Thar offers double frontal airbags as standard. Driver and passenger’s head and neck showed good protection. Driver’s chest offered adequate protection and passenger chest showed good protection. The structure was rated as stable but the footwell area was rated as unstable, not being capable of withstanding further loadings. Both adult knee areas were optimized to reduce significant injuries. Both child occupants received almost full protection during the test. The Thar offers standard ISOFIX anchorages and top tether together with 3 point belts for all seating positions.


Child Occupant Protection


Global NCAP awards a separate child safety rating to each car in order to highlight the different levels of protection vehicles provide to passengers on the rear seats. Global NCAP tests a combination of the car and child seat recommended by the own car manufacturer. Because the only safe way for young children to travel is properly restrained in a child seat, the assessment checks how compatible the car is with the child seats recommended by the manufacturer, as well as the protection provided in the crash test.

E o bom resultado da scenic deve-se em parte, ao facto da elevada deformação da traseira da BMW.
Pois se estivesse carregada ou fosse uma versao da policia/notarzt/inem , a traseira era muito mais rígida devido às prateleiras/armário colocado na traseira e aí não havia Scenic que resistisse.

Okay, so by 23 December 1997, the Metro name had long since died, and the car that had been launched with such a fanfare in October 1980 had mutated into the Rover 100. We’ve postulated many times about how the Austin Metro saved BL when it was launched, and even aged 10, once it had received a K-Series engine and suspension updates, it was a class-leading steer. But 21 years ago today, the Rover 100 died. Did EuroNCAP kill it?
In 1995, the Metro was past its prime. It needed a meaningful update, but instead, it received the lightest of facelifts to become the Rover 100 (the name it had since 1990 in Europe). Despite feeling superannuated, the Rover 100 still sold well, and the dealers loved how loyal its customers were – they knew that the upcoming Rover 200 was never going to have enough small-car appeal to lure the loyal Metro clientele.
However, Rover’s management thought it knew better. Under BMW, work on the MINI was underway, and all that the 100 needed to do was keep in business long enough to maintain a place at the base of the range that could be reserved for the upcoming R50. Forget developing the 100, the dealers could shuffle potential buyers into a shiny new 200 if they wanted something newer. Like it or lump it…
[h=2]Bad news for the Rover 100[/h]
This plan was, in the event, scuppered at the hands of EuroNCAP (The European New Car Assessment Programme) – which reported in its crash test that the Rover 100 fell a long way behind what was considered a minimum standard in passive safety. In fact, it was given a one-star front and side impact rating, which was, essentially, a disastrous showing.

Thing is, it wasn’t alone in having such a bad showing. The Fiat Seicento, Peugeot 106 and Renault Twingo also performed pretty shockingly, too. Remember, that this offset-front method of crash testing was brutal – and any car not specifically designed to pass the test would fail dismally. As it was, the Renault was heavily re-engineered, while the other two ended up soldiering on as they were. And since then, all new cars have been designed to do better at this form of crash testing.

Unfortunately for Rover, the story became a lot more widespread than the specialist press and it transcended the usual car magazines into the daily newspapers. Worse, the Rover 100’s performance made it to the early evening news on the BBC. Needless to say, this was disastrous for Rover and, within days, orders for the car dried up. Rover was given no choice other than to withdraw the 100 from sale with production ending on 23 December 1997.
The question is – was the car killed before its time by this EuroNCAP crash test? Or had it outlived its usefulness to Rover (and not its dealers) by 1997 anyway, and the company was happy to euthanise it?

Em relação ao Twingo e ao 106, devem estar a falar do teste da ADAC, com regras diferentes das do Euroncap e do crash test que aperece num pdf Espanhol, com o Peugeot 106 azul claro contudo cujo resultado nunca foi publicado pelo Euroncap
