WRC: Ford e Subaru completaram testes

As duas unicas marcas que disputarão o mundial de ralis de 2006 a nível oficial terminaram esta semana os seus testes por este ano. Ford e Subaru estiveram no asfalto Françês a trabalçhar para o rali de Monte Carlo.

A M-Sport esteve no sul de França com Mikko Hirvonen e Marcus Gronholm ao longo de cinco dias. Hirvonen encarregou-se dos primeiros três dias e Gronholm encarregou-se dos dois restantes. Uma semana de trabalho que Malcon Wilson considerou extremamente positiva.

Menos positiva terá sido a semana da Subaru. Os seis dias planeados com Petter Solberg e Stephane Sarrazin tiveram de ser encurtados na sequência de uma saida de estrada do piloto francês. Valeram os primeiros três dias de Solberg, porque a batida de Sarrazin aconteceu logo no primeiro dia que de testes do piloto, tendo a estrutura da Prodrive de rumar a Inglaterra e dar o trabalho por concluído.

Em Janeiro haverão mais testes, com a Ford a escolher novamente o asfalto a sul de França e a Subaru a estender-se ainda para um dos países nórdicos com vista a testar em neve.

A new challenge for Gauloises

After two seasons crowned by two world championship titles in MotoGP, Gauloises will participate in the FIA 2006 World Rally Championship besides the Kronos team and his two drivers, Sébastien Loeb, the reigning world champion, and his team mate Xavier Pons.

Delighted to be able to take up this new challenge for the conquest of a new world title, the French brand of the Altadis group will be present on the two Citroen Xsara of the Kronos team from the Monte Carlo rally, first round of the FIA 2006 WRC championship, which will be held from the 20 to the 22 of January.

Na AXN dá aos sabados de manha um programa chamado Shakedown com resumos dos ralis. durante o mundial passam resumos e bastidores, fora disso passam o nacional..
que saudades de quando era "puto" de ir ver o rali de portugal, era espectacular, aqui na zona de viseu ia tudo ver.. mas dinheiro para a porcaria de uns estadios há, para um pouco de segurança para o rali voltar nem se fala...
lembro-me tão bem de passar horas a ver as provas de velocidade, rampas,race of champions dtm etc que passavam nas generalistas em directo..o rotações, o maquinas, 4ªa fundo...´

é verdade, agora estou em exames, em fevereiro hei-de por aqui um video de 3horas feito por um tio meu que cobre o mundial de 1980 até 1992

Já nem me importava que o mundial tivesse 2 duas equipas oficiais, queria era ver os nossos campeões a dar brita, e a fazer bons resultados, como tal não foi possivel (apesar do Armindo estar inscrito na Suécia) vou fazer como habitualmente, dedicar-me de alma e coração ao nosso campeonato nacional.

Scuderia privada? Deve ser... Tinham de fazer alguma coisa aos 307. Venderam, nem que não sejam os carros do último mundial. Podem ser versões anteriores.

2006 Season Preview

So, as another year dawns and the holiday hangovers slowly recede, the start of the 2006 World Rally Championship is just three weeks away. The short off-season is almost over, and soon the speculation will turn into intense action as the title rivals face off in their bid to be crowned top dogs. We take a look at what's new this year...



The events
There has been plenty of change in the WRC schedule for 2006. Although the early portion of the season remains roughly the same - with January and February dates for the specialist Monte Carlo and Swedish events, and a long-haul trip to Mexico in early March for the first full gravel round - there have been enough changes to subtly alter the nature of the teams' campaigns.

For a start, the asphalt rallies in Spain and France have moved from their traditional early autumn slots to dates in late March and early April, although this probably doesn't increase the prospect of rain on the sealed-surface Mediterranean roads of Barcelona and Corsica. Argentina has also moved back to April from July, placing it at the end of the southern hemisphere summer, which should please the legions of parka-wrapped fans who crowd the stages despite the chilly weather.

Italy's round of the WRC and the Acropolis Rally in Greece in early June herald a 10-week break in the calendar to avoid clashes with the FIFA World Cup in Germany in July. Germany's asphalt roads then restart the season in mid-August before a short hop across Europe to the fast gravel roads of Finland with only a week between events. September's long-haul trip to Japan (four weeks earlier this year) is followed by two events with significant date changes for 2006 as Cyprus and Turkey move from mid-May and early June to late September and mid-October.

Australia loses its place as the season-finale with a new date at the end of October, before the teams head across the Pacific to New Zealand (now back in November after its recent April slot) and then back to Europe for what promises to be a chilly season-ending tour around Wales for the Rally GB. There are also changes to the Junior WRC calendar as the Super 1600 series gets the addition of a snow event in Sweden and an extra round in Argentina to ensure the feeder championship retains its global status. The Production WRC series also visits Mexico for the first time, adding a new challenge for the top Group N drivers.



The teams
Say hello to the privateers. If 2005 was the year when the independently-funded teams emerged from the shadows of their better-funded, manufacturer-backed rivals to score some surprise results, then 2006 should be the season when these no-less professionally run teams - who have always been a fixture of rallying's top level - really emerge as the backbone of the WRC and potential title contenders.

Only Subaru and Ford are fielding fully-fledged works-backed teams this year, but privateer outfit Kronos Total Citroen has received plenty of help from the on-sabbatical French car giant as it prepares its multi car assault with upgraded versions of the Xsara WRC and reigning champion Sebastien Loeb. The top-line Belgian outfit, run by Marc van Dalen, spearheaded the privateer assault in 2005 and deserves the chance to prove its credentials while Citroen prepares for a full return in 2007.

Taking advantage of new 'Manufacturer 2' rules are the privateer Red Bull Skoda, OMV Peugeot and Stobart VK Ford teams. The Red Bull Skoda outfit, run by Austrian Raimund Baumschlager, has taken on a significant portion of Skoda's top talent, along with chief engineer Dietmar Metrich. Long-time Peugeot outfit Bozian Racing has always been well run, but looks set to take that to new levels in 2006 with the addition of OMV funding from 2005's top privateer Manfred Stohl, who moves marques after two seasons with Kronos and Citroen.

Top British team Stobart Motorsport makes a full-time step up to the WRC with joint backer VK and technical support from works Ford outfit M-Sport, which will effectively run the cars as a Ford 'B-team'. You can also expect more privateer Citroens from French racing outfit ORECA and the Citroen's official J-WRC team PH Sport, while Czech ace Jan Kopecky is running a Skoda Fabia WRC on selected rounds and Mitsubishi outfit RalliArt Italy is looking to run a Lancer WRC for emerging Italian ace Gigi Galli and Finnish gravel expert Harri Rovanpera.



The drivers
The biggest change for 2006 in the driver line-ups is double champion Marcus Gronholm's move from Peugeot to Ford. The Finn is likely to be as much of a title contender with the Blue Oval as he has been over the last seven years with the French Lion, and significantly boosts Ford's hopes of a first title since 1981. New signing Mikko Hirvonen adds a burst of youthful enthusiasm to the line-up after impressing in a works Subaru and a privateer Ford in 2004 and 2005.

Subaru's line-up remains unchanged from 2005, with 2003 title winner Petter Solberg promising as committed an attack as ever. Australian gravel ace Chris Atkinson will benefit from the experience of a solid first campaign in 2005, while French asphalt ace Stephane Sarrazin adds his asphalt experience for the four sealed-surface events. Reigning champion Sebastien Loeb stays with Citroen, but moves to a privateer outfit with Kronos Racing for 2006. He'll be partnered by rising Spaniard Xavier Pons and reigning J-WRC champion Dani Sordo on selected events.

Austrian Manfred Stohl, the top privateer and an occasional podium finisher in 2005, moves French marques from Citroen to Peugeot for this year as he switches his OMV backing from Kronos to Bozian and runs a full season. He'll be partnered by Henning Solberg, who campaigned a privateer Ford last year. Austrian young gun Andreas Aigner leads Red Bull Skoda's line-up, thanks to his long-time links with the energy drink giant, while French asphalt expert Gilles Panizzi and Swedish racing ace Mattias Ekstrom (another Red Bull protégé) have been booked to partner him for Monte Carlo and Sweden.

Rising British star Matthew Wilson leads Stobart VK Ford's assault, with Belgian Peter Tsjoen, Finns Kosti Katijamaki and Jari-Matti Latvala and Argentinean Luis Perez Companc lined up for selected events over the course of the season.

no modelo anterior, a primeira versao do wrc era linda e simples... depois actualizaram-no e ficou xuning...

A isso também ajuda o desenho mais concensual e bem conseguido do MK1, mas a versão de rali precisava de evoluir face à concorrência e conseguiram mantê-lo "a par" recorrendo a apêndices aerodinâmicos, entre outras mudanças. Piorou no "look", mas ganhou em eficácia.

Também não sou grande apreciador da asa traseira do Lancer WRC no meio da tampa da mala, mas ajuda na distribuição de peso.

o lancer até podia ganhar tudo, mas com aquela asa traseira "mal posta", fica tão feio que até dava vergonha andar com aquilo na rua..
