INGOLSTADT, Alemanha - pela primeira vez a Audi ultrapassou em vendas a BMW e a Mercedes-Benz, para se tornar na marca de luxo mais vendida na Europa num trimestre.
citação: INGOLSTADT, Germany — For the first time, Audi has outsold BMW and Mercedes-Benz to become the top-selling luxury brand in Europe for a three-month period.
Propelled by hot new A4 and A6 models, Audi was the big winner in the first quarter of 2005 — at a time when Mercedes-Benz was suffering quality problems and BMW saw sales depressed while it was going through a model change on its bread-and-butter 3 Series.
Analysts believe the growth is sustainable and the pattern is likely to be repeated in the U.S., especially when Audi's new Q7 SUV is launched next year. Audi has launched a succession of well-received cars at a time when BMW's controversial styling has put off many buyers. And Mercedes sales will continue to suffer from the recently announced product recall of 1.3 million cars.
Audi's European sales grew 9.8 percent in Q1, and even in Germany, where the overall market is down, Audi sales were up by 1.8 percent.
A total of 195,044 Audis were sold worldwide, up 1.8 percent on the Q1 2004 figure of 191,560. Ralph Weyler, Audi board member responsible for marketing and sales, said, "We are on course for a new record year."
A noticia já não é nova, mas mesmo assim, aqui fica:
Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay is waxing lyrical on a subject which isn't normally dear to the musical icon's heart - an estate car.
The £46,500 Audi Avant in question is, of course, no everyday family workhorse. Mr Kay has taken delivery of the potent, twin-turbocharged RS4 Avant quattro, Britain's most powerful high performance estate.
It is one of just 400 examples destined for Britain, this undercover super car is capable of accelerating from rest to 60mph in just 4.7 seconds and can continue to an electronically limited maximum speed of 155mph.
Kay's fiancée, television personality Denise Van Outen, is also championing the brand from behind the wheel of a TT Roadster quattro.
"What I love about the RS4 is that it encompasses everything I require in a vehicle, namely that it is devastatingly fast, supremely practical and feels absolutely sure footed in all weather," added the singer.
