Já agora, a propósito do concurso Renault 4 Ever, aqui fica um dos projectos. Este é da autoria de um designer italiano, David Obendorfer.

Drawing from his early experiences of the renault 4, 'revival of a childhood impression' is a redesign concept by italian designer David Obendorfer.
the proposal maintains the classic model's spirit of simplicity and functionality, but adds modern updates to its body and interior, such as LCD information systems as well as options for hybrid or electric power. the concept is one of fifty projects shortlisted from over 3200 submissions from 92 countries in designboom's recent RENAULT 4 EVER competition, which asked participants to redesign the renault 4 with an eye towards historical lineage, contemporary aesthetics, and sustainable design.

The designer explains:
'I have explored the nature of this model's surfaces and tried to capture the proportions that give it a strong personality. such features are the r4's
long wheelbase, quite short front overhang, car body with a typical forward-facing incline, different front and back fenders, front headlights
close to each other, straight rear hatch, etc. of course it has been necessary to update the vehicle volumes respecting--among other things--
the standard for pedestrians' protection and the current requirements of safety and comfort in general.'

The dashboard maintains the original's minimalist approach: instead of a conventional instrument panel there are two LCD monitors, one for the main information panel as well as a central screen for navigation. both fold down into a hidden view when the engine is turned off.

Renault is proud of the results of the RENAULT 4 EVER competition and extends sincere thanks to all of its participants.
Tthe jury has still not made its final decision on the winning entry, but the results will be published to designboom at the end of july.

Com o design certo poderá ser mais um modelo revivalista bem sucedido.

Foi um dos primeiros carros que me lembro de andar (os meus pais tinham um).

Ainda hoje acho graça as particularidades, como o local do travão de mão e da caixa de velocidades.

Já temos o Mini, Beetle e 500, só ficam a faltar esses 2

Concurso Renault 4 Ever

Parece que nos últimos dias, um dos projectos do concurso tem vindo a ganhar algum protagonismo, devido ao conceito do veículo em si.

O designer francês Charlie Nghiem está a trabalhar, juntamente com a Renault, num carro eléctrico que pode revolucionar toda a indústria automóvel – e da energia. O modelo chama-se Renault 4Lectric – quiçá inspirado na velhinha 4L - e conseguirá produzir mais energia da que consome.
Seguindo a linha dos modelos compactos agora em voga, a 4Lectric utiliza a energia solar e a energia cinética das travagens para se alimentar. A si e à comunidade, uma vez que o veículo consegue armazenar a energia que não utiliza e partilha-a com a rede. Para tal, o 4Lectric tem duas baterias – uma mantém o carro em funcionamento e a outra armazena a energia que este não consome.
O veículo tem um interface que ajuda a distribuir e partilhar a energia solar armazenada, podendo fazê-lo quando está ligado a uma estação de carregamento.
Além disso, este modelo futurista tem ainda sensores que transformam o calor em energia, por isso o carro consegue produzir muito mais energia do que a que realmente consome. Veja como funciona o esquema de partilha de energia e, já agora, surpreenda-se com o design do carro.

In order to sustain current trends of energy consumption, efforts to produce it must become a shared responsibility. aiming to create a circular
economy, the 'Renault 4Lectric' Concept vehicle by french designer Charlie Nghiem uses solar power to fuel both itself and its community.

'Vehicles can be used as our first step towards a circular economy, if we give it more responsibility than its function of driving,' the designer explains.
the Renault 4 has a tradition of providing owners with a functional and self-sustaining means of mobility, and this redesign is a modern extension of
these values: environmentally responsible in its use and production, the vehicle lets households participate in autonomous production of renewable energy.

Though it includes thermal sensors on the body, the '4Lectric' draws most of its energy from two batteries, powered by solar films on the windows and roof.
Devised primarily for personal use, the first battery accumulates energy during braking periods while the car being driven: when the user goes to an electric
Charging station, he gets just the remaining amount needed, with the rest already provided by what has accumulated during the ride. the vehicle can also
be recharged through a connection at the home, where a two-way circuit allows energy to be harnessed for domestic use. this scenario can be applied to
work places as well: the parked car is no longer passive but becomes active participant in the generation of its own energy.

The second, or 'social', battery functions in the same way but is designed for collective consumption, redirecting accumulated electricity to a storage center.
This stock of energy provided by the users services manufacturing centers, where vehicles at the end of their lives are recycled for new models.
sharing energy in a circular motion, the public pool of energy can also be applied to collective concerns, such as maintaining transportation networks or
helping geographical areas where access to electricity is limited.

The design concentrates on the essential, synthesizing functions at all opportunities. using resources as efficiently as possible, the car is
assembled with fewer parts and therefore has a lighter construction. in addition to using recycled or recyclable materials, local manufacturers
are involved in production when possible, in order to support their business as well as minimize transportation costs.

Once the car has reached the end of its life, the energy which was redistributed throughout his lifetime helps to revive the car in another form.
the manufacturer's role is no longer that of a linear industrialist, but one that is involved in perpetuating new, environmentally sustainable
values that go beyond the automobile.

Esta que falo nem é propriamente minha, é da família, tem passado por gerações. É verde garrafa, há muito tempo que não vejo uma igual, dantes havia estas e umas azuis escuras da mesma série.

É dos carros mais impressionantes que já conduzi. Isto entre clássicos e modernos da minha experiência pessoal.

Poucos projectos foram tão geniais na história do automóvel, na minha opinião.
