It’s no secret that Lincoln has been struggling on many different levels over the past years - if not decades, with one of the more persisting problems being that the Blue Oval's sole luxury standard bearer has persistently failed to deliver in the design department.The Ford group's answer to this problem was the appointment of former Cadillac exterior design Max Wolff as the head of Lincoln's design team last year and the creation of a new 40,000-square-foot dedicated studio in Dearborn, with the new MKZ being the first example of Lincoln's styling revitalization.


Moreover, Lincoln is also looking for young and emerging talents from colleges and universities by sponsoring projects. One of the more recent Lincoln backed concepts that caught our attention is the MKF from Brian Malczewski, an automotive design student at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
We don't have a description of the Lincoln MKF Concept, but the styling and proportions suggest an executive size sports saloon in the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLS and BMW 6-Series Grand Coupe.

Lincoln MKC concept - Detroit Motor Show-2013

Ford’s US luxury brand Lincoln has unveiled this SUV concept, called MKC, at Detroit; it previews the forthcoming US-market production MKC, due later this year.

The car is based on the Ford Escape/Kuga, but gets a new, sleeker body and a new interior. It has a longer wheelbase and is wider and lower than the Escape/Kuga twins. Although some of the concept car detailing will be lost on the production vehicle, the finished MKC will be virtually identical to the show car.

Inside the MKC seats four, and gets its own dashboard that shares nothing with the Fords. It features an unusual push button gear selector to the left of the touch screen with buttons for P, R, N and D in the style of large commercial passenger vehicles. The wood trim is made from reconstructed timber with metal flakes incorporated into the material.

Lincoln, which was America’s biggest selling luxury car brand at the end of the 90s, needs new and younger buyers with more money. Cars such as the MKC and the forthcoming MKS and MKX, will have to attract customers who will have always considered Lincoln as too old and conservative.

Ford also hopes Lincoln will become successful in China, where it will be launched in 2014, in the same way Buick has for General Motors.

Estecticamente considero bem mais apelativo que o BMW X3 ou o Audi Q5, dois dos seus maiores rivais. A Volvo poderia ter-se tornado nessa marca de luxo global para a Ford. Tinha créditos na Europa e nos EUA, mas deixaram-na cair.
Agora querem lançar uma marca que não diz nada a 95% dos europeus. Boa sorte com isso...

Há quantos anos está a Lexus na europa e quais são os números que apresenta? E quantos Infiniti's já viram por cá?

Exactamente o mesmo que penso!


A Ford, e outras, deveriam-se concentrar, se quiserem penetrar mais no mercado europeu, em lançar carros baratos e económicos e diferentes, e não é só nos países da crise, é a moda europeia...

Agora carros de luxo, não têm hipótese contra o trio alemão, nem pensar, então se incluirmos a Jaguar e a Volvo na equação (já que a SAAB anda lá para cá), nem pensem!



Mesmo a Lexus... não vende nada, e a marca mãe (Toyota) tem uma melhor imagem (fiabilidade, quer seja verdade ou não) que a Ford na maioria dos países do continente europeu...



Portanto, o que está aqui dito, é o que eu penso: deviam apostar era no luxo escandinavo...

Apesar de não ser grande fã de SUVs acho que o que está nesta página está muito bem conseguido, os interiores estão fantásticos.
Quantas mais marcas melhor, pena que a Cadillac não aposte na Europa também.

Company also promises an improved buying experience

Lincoln is in the midst of a major product revamp and new details are starting to emerge about the company's future lineup.
During a presentation at the Deutsche Bank Global Industrials Conference, Lincoln Global Director Matt Vandyke confirmed the brand will launch four all-new models by 2016. He also announced the MKC concept will be representative of future Lincoln products.

Vandyke also revealed Lincoln expects significant growth in the "small premium car" market. The company has previously hinted at the possibility of entering this segment with the C concept and Reuters' sources have confirmed an entry-level model is under consideration. This isn't surprising since Lincoln says their new products will be placed in the "largest and fastest growing segments."

While the company still faces an uphill battle, Lincoln is hoping an improved buying experience will sway buyers in the United States. Under this initiative, the company will have dedicated retail facilities and staff as well as a variety of new services including a new car delivery program and online concierge services.
Lincoln is also pinning their hopes on a successful Chinese launch in the second half of 2014. In order to achieve this, the company plans to have "warm and inviting" dealerships with personalization studios and doorman who will invite people into the store.

2015 Lincoln MKC officially introduced

Lincoln has fully revealed the production version of the MKC, following a conceptshown at the beginning of the year at NAIAS.
As far as design is concerned, it looks a lot like the concept with the exception of the conventional door handles fitted on the production version. In addition, the back of the car shows less aggressive exhausts and slight changes in the taillight graphics. Overall, the 2015 MKC follows Lincoln's new design approach introduced with the 2013 MKZ, such as the split-wing front grille and the wraparound liftgate. The model shown in these official photos is equipped with an optional all-glass Vista Roof.

Under the hood it will get a standard 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine rated at 240 HP (177 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 270 lb-ft (366 Nm) at 3,000 rpm. Optionally available will be an all-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine producing 275 HP (202 kW) at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) available at 3,000 rpm.
The 2015 Lincoln MKC will get standard 18-inch alloys and a front-wheel drive setup, but for more money clients can opt for 19-inch rims and the firm's Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system which comes with Continuously Controlled Damping.

The interior cabin doesn't stray away too far from what we saw in the concept and we find Lincoln's signature push-button gear shifter and plush leathers with French stitching. Also available is a Bridge of Weir leather and authentic wood trim, along with a redesigned leather-wrapped steering wheel which will be seen on future Lincoln models. Other goodies include a 14-speaker THX-certified sound system, 8-inch touchscreen display and SYNC with MyLincoln Touch.

Production of the Lincoln MKC crossover will commence in the second quarter of 2014 at the Louisville Assembly Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, with deliveries kicking off later that summer.
