Este corvette tem um cocktail de tecnologia que não é brincadeira.
chassis aluminio, transaxle, suspensões evoluidas, motor central dianteiro...

      Corvette Z06 to be renamed Z07, come with twin-turbo V8? - Autoblog

      According to a report in
Car and Driver, the new C7 Corvette version of the Corvette Z06 will pick up practically where the ZR1 left off. First, they predict it will graduate to being called the Z07; if so, it will be the next General Motors Regular Production Code (RPO), like Z28 and, yes, Z06, to become a model name.

And if you thought a hybrid Corvette was a sharp point of discussion, how about a production version of the small-block V8 with a displacement of "significantly less than 6.2 liters" aided by twin-turbos? That's what CD believes will rest under the hood of the Z07, citing the ever-present concern for fuel economy and the fact that bitumen burners from Cadillac have given up supercharging for turbocharging. The horsepower number is predicted to be an even 600, which would be a 95-hp jump over the current Z06 and just 38 less than the late, great ZR1. Helping to keep control of all that truculent muscle will be larger tires encircling carbon-ceramic stoppers, but CD is mum on other specific changes.

The mooted price: $100,000. This might be the most fabulous new spec of all, seeing as it would represent a $24,400 increase over the Z06 and just a $12,600 undercut of the ZR1. Compare and contrast: in 2001, the first year of the Z06, the MSRP of a 350-hp Corvette coupe was $40,725, the MSRP of the 385-horsepower Z06 was $48,500; if CD is correct, the 2014 Corvette's sea level will be established by the 455-hp Stingray that costs $51,995 and in 2015 we'll be staring down the twin, forced-induction barrels of a 600-hp, twin-turbo Z07 that starts at six figures and that could still be leaving room for a new ZR1 late in the model's lifetime.

GM files patent for 7-speed DCT, is it headed for Corvette? - Autoblog

Although a report last year indicated that the seventh-gen Chevrolet Corvette could be getting an eight-speed automatic transmission, it looks like General Motors might have some other plans in mind. General Motors recently filed a patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office for a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and CorvetteForum.com makes the obvious guess that this performance-enhancing gearbox could find its way a future version of Chevy's performance coupe.

The drawing above comes directly from the patent filing, and while the gearbox will almost certainly be used in more than just one model, it would be a welcomed replacement for the six-speed automatic currently found in the 2014 Corvette. The idea of a DCT in the already-impressive C7 Stingray definitely makes the rivalry between the Corvette and the Porsche 911
                  a little more intriguing.

Corvette Shooting Brake Callaway recebe luz verde

Back in March, car designer and Corvette specialist Callaway previewed a shooting brake version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray, claiming it could go into production if customer demand is satisfactory.

According to Car Buzz, it seems Callaway’s wagon-tailed Vette attracted enough interest to prompt the Connecticut-based company to commence production of the C21 AeroWagon package, which will include an enhance version of the Stingray’s 6.2-liter V8 engine, larger rear wheels and a top speed in excess of 200 miles per hour (321 km/h).

However, initial pricing of $15,000 has jumped to $22,995, our source adds, which means that a shooting brake 2014 Corvette will have a final sticker of over $70,000. Availability info has yet to be revealed, but Callaway should spill the beans soon enough.

Meanwhile, the guys over at Callaway Cars are also working on a supercharged version of the C7 Corvette that should deliver at least 600 HP, the company announced last month.

                              2015 Corvette Z06 Photo Leaked

Yesterday we learned that the next-generation Corvette Z06 will make its global debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show next month. We also saw the first teaser shot of what GM promises to be “the most track-capable Corvette ever”.

We sincerely thought that was it for a couple of weeks, but the 2015 Corvette Z06 came back into our news section today, as a photo of what appears to be the actual sportscar GM will be revealing in January leaked via Facebook.

We don’t know where the photo was taken, but judging by the body color, the wheels and the side skirts, we’re tempted to believe we’re looking at the real thing. However, the photos show different side vents, which is why we’ll remain skeptical until more details become available.

But if this leaked photo is indeed of the 2015 Corvette Z06 we’ll be seeing in Detroit, then we’re looking at some of the exterior enhancements the sportscar will be receiving, such as carbon fiber front splitter, side skirts and rear spoiler, wider hips and a slightly different hood.

                                          O Z06 vai ter 620cv.

Thanks to Chevrolet, we now know exactly what to expect in terms of output from theupcoming 2015 Corvette Stingray Z06 that will break cover at the Detroit motor show next week on January 13, and we quote the Google search result snippet for "Corvette Z06 supercar reveal" from the brand's official website:

"With 620 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2015 Corvette Z06 is the most advanced Corvette ever made. Read more about Chevy's supercar here."

Too bad Chevy deleted the contents of the page, so we can't actually click on the "read more" link to find out whether the 620-ponies (115hp more than the previous C6 Corvette Z06's 505hp 7.0-liter V8) are sourced from
                                          GM's upcoming 4.5-liter V8 turbo or another eight-cylinder unit.

                                                          Rating:

                                                          What is it?
The seventh generation of America’s original sportscar, now reunited with the ‘Stingray’ name that graced some of its most famous predecessors. On paper, it looks like little has changed, with the ‘C7’ Corvette sticking with the tried-and-tested combination of a pushrod V8, a rear transaxle and (yes!) that infamous transverse leaf spring at the back.
But don’t write this Corvette off as some kind of dinosaur – it’s also packed with some serious tech, featuring an aluminium bodyshell, carbon bonnet and roof and a properly advanced multi-mode stability control system that includes an aggressive ‘Track’ mode.

Pricing is extremely competitive – at least, it is in the ‘States. Specified with the Z51 performance package the Stingray costs $53,800 in the US – just under £33,000 at current exchange rates. Don’t get too excited, though – when the car comes to the UK later this year the EU version will cost £61,645, and that’s with the steering wheel on the wrong side.

                                                          Technical highlights

Much is familiar about the new Corvette, of course – not least the presence of a ‘small block’ V8 under the bonnet, which still operates its valves by pushrods. To the doubters, that will be taken as evidence of the new car’s lack of evolution over its predecessors. The truth is more complicated, and not least because Chevrolet argues the overhead valve powertrain enables a more compact engine and a lower bonnet line. The V8 also features both direct injection and selective cylinder shut-down to boost economy.
Our test car was fitted with both the Z51 performance pack and an optional sports exhaust, boosting output to a respectable 465bhp, with this accompanied by REF lb ft of torque. A seven-speed manual transaxle comes as standard, a six-speed torque converter auto is an option.

Underneath, this ‘Vette sticks with the familiar combination of double wishbones all round, with those at the rear sharing a single transversely mounted composite leaf spring. For all its notoriety, this doesn’t serve to locate the rear suspension, and allows the rear suspension to be packaged as low as possible. The rear transaxle gearbox enables Chevrolet to claim 50:50 front-to-rear static weight distribution.

This Corvette is also vastly more advanced than its predecessors in terms of electronic architecture, with standard switchable dampers and a multi-mode stability control system that features ‘sport’ and ‘track’ modes in addition to full deactivation. Cabin quality feels far higher than that of the last ‘C6’, with a TFT display screen in the dashboard reporting on revs and speed and a central touchscreen for audio and nav functions.

                                                          How does it drive?

Impressively well – certainly on the Californian roads we put it through its paces on. Despite the promise implicit in the engine’s huge capacity it actually feels a but under-gunned at regular speeds – maybe because we’ve got so used to the combination of turbocharged low-down torque and quick-reacting automated gearboxes. The V8 is happy to trundle at low revs, but it doesn’t start to deliver until there’s at least 3000rpm showing – and really comes on song between about 4500rpm to its 6500rpm redline. Throttle response is excellent, though.

It takes a while to get used to the gearbox, which is addressed via a heavy clutch with a relatively sudden biting point. The gearshift has a short throw and a slightly artificial-feeling weight to it – and unlike the new Porsche 911 there isn’t an inhibitor when you change up from fourth to guide you into fifth rather than seventh – meaning that it’s irritatingly easy to snag the wrong gear. And as sixth shows less than 2000rpm at an 80mph motorway cruise it’s not altogether obvious what seventh is actually for, the US being noticeably short of Autobahns.

The suspension is surprisingly compliant given the Corvette’s dynamic intent, certainly with the adaptive dampers in their softest mode. The steering takes a bit longer to get used to. It uses electrical assistance, but feels far closer to an old-fashioned hydraulic system than most similar systems. The rack is quick, but the assistance weighting is light and you need to build up confidence. Once you do, you’ll find some workable feedback there, although the vast level of grip generated by the front Michelin Pilot Super Sports means you’ll always be carrying serious speed before finding the limits approaching.

If anything, the Corvette feels over-tyred at first – an impression that’s increased by the engine’s relative lack of low-down torque. In anything above second gear you have to be wringing the engine out to feel the torque having any influence on the back end, and when the rear tyres do run out of grip you suspect the transition will be a sudden one. The other side of the equation is that – with the stability control doing its thing – you quickly gain confidence in the Stingray’s towering adhesion. On lower grip surfaces switching the traction control off reveals a neutral handling balance and an easy low-speed driftability.

All recent Covettes have delivered thrills – sometimes of the time-to-change-your-underpants variety. But the C7 adds a welcome dose of maturity to the mix.

                                                          How does it compare?

In America, extremely well – the basic Stingray is $30,000 less than an entry-level Porsche 911, and with a better power-to-weight ratio. But in Europe that towering pricetag will almost certainly ensure the ‘Vette remains of minority interest.

                                                          Anything else I should know?

The C7’s interior quality is vastly better than that of any of its predecessors. Materials quality might not be quite on a par with upmarket rivals, but it’s well-finished and feels far more durable than its made-from-Styrofoam ancestors. Apart from some booming acoustics, it cruises extremely well – and we managed 25mpg (imperial) for 400 miles of mixed use.

Very competitive pricing; great handling balance

Seventh gear easily wrong-slotted; steering a bit light
