a)"Check with your dealer - you may have an early IS220d with the faulty fuel injectors. Mine is a Jan 06 and now that I've had the modified injectors fitted I'm seeing an easy 45mpg, the ability to use 6th gear at 65 mph, much less vibration and the icing on the cake which is an improvement in performance"
b)"Ive just spoken to Lexus Leeds where i got the car and there service manager informes me that only the 5th injector is changed when there is an engine management system change/problem, he went on to say there are no ways of improving mpg only using quality fuel which i do??
any other thoughts?"
c)"My dealer has told me that the new cars ( diesels) now feel like a sport with 65mph in 6th possible so if yours does not have the new injectors demand a change over now! This seems to apply to all the early build dates
alan"
d)"This was a pleasant surprise for me after the upgrade. I was expecting the improved fuel economy but didn't expect to be able to do 65 mph comfortably in sixth, and the car feels nippier throughout the gears."
e)"Something which is bugging me is that if this is a known problem with a solution then where are the recall notices for those who are affected. Also, if there is a recall - will I still get another bottle of bubbly "

This thread is starting to confuse me. So need a lead I have a lexus 220d got it the Sept 06, seems to being doing 35MPG around town, is this accepatble or is it below par. Will i have the new injectors, and finally athe car still labours below 70MPH in 6th Gear, is then indicating i dont have the new injectors...help
Jim - rest easy pal.
Yours I am sure is OK. If you're getting 35mpg in town then I WANT YOUR INJECTORS...
I get 26-31 if I'm really carefull and don't get too impeded by red lights . This can drop to 18-22mpg on a cold engine or lots of starts and stops. And I don't cain it!
As an example since last week, I have done 100 miles from a full tank, all town, and it reads 22.4mpg tank average. I could have got that with an IS250!
From what I have been led to believe the injector issue was for a few cars made early - Jan-March 06. Mine was registered 17th March 06 (arrived in UK on 9th March), manufactured probably in late Jan/early Feb with possibly first batch of parts."
