Parece que a intrusão no habitáculo é menor do que no crash test da Auto motor Und Sport, contudo continua-se a verificar a falta de rigidez da porta do condutor, e há uma rotação do tablier no lado esquerdo para dentro do tablier, motivado pelo recuo do pilar A. Parece que não há uma distribuição mais uniforme da deformação à frente.

Entre o minuto 2:43 dá idea que o teto baixa quase até, se não é que bate mesmo na cabeça do dummy, até que se eleva, derivado à deformação do pilar b

E o cinto de segurança parece esticar muito, deixandoo dummy desamparado no seu caminho até embater no volante

<olhando para a velocidade a que foi efetuado o teste, os 65km/h arrisco a dizer que este poderá ser um Civic já reforçado, lançado após o teste de 1992 porque parece e sem termos os valores de ferimentos do dummy, que a estrutura do carro se comportou melhor do que no crash test da Auto Motor Und Sport

It's a phenomenon that initially seems illogical: someone who crashes at 35 km/h has a higher risk of injury than someone who crashes at 50 km/h. And yet, as the ADAC (German Automobile Club) has discovered, it's true. Older vehicle occupants, in particular, face a higher risk of injury in lower-speed accident scenarios. But why is that?

When the siren sounds in the ADAC crash test hall and a car starts moving, it means: This vehicle will leave the hall as nothing but a pile of scrap metal. It crashes into the wall with tremendous force, metal deforms, glass shatters – and the car is done for. This is how the standard frontal crash test (with full overlap) has been conducted for many years, a test which the ADAC, as part of Euro NCAP, the international consortium for vehicle safety, has already carried out thousands of times.

But what happens if you reduce the speed and crash at only 35 km/h? The ADAC tested this, because since 2026 this scenario has been part of the Euro NCAP safety assessment that new cars will have to undergo in the future. The surprising result:

The Chinese subcompact MG3 was selected for the test. The model had already been crash-tested in 2025, but at the significantly higher speed of 50 km/h. A perfect candidate for comparison, therefore, as the data is readily comparable.

While a lighter gasoline-powered model was used in the 2025 crash test, this time the hybrid model was used. The 2025 test involved two dummies in the vehicle, while the new test, in accordance with the new NCAP protocol, was conducted with three dummies inside the vehicle.​

Unlike in 2025, the MG3 is driven into a deformable barrier. This is intended to simulate an impact with a guardrail or another vehicle. Despite the energy already absorbed, the person in the driver's seat experiences a higher stress than at 50 km/h. (Note: No comparable test data from 2025 is available for the front passenger.) Only the dummy in the second row "benefits" from the 15 km/h lower speed. Here, the stress on the head is lower.

In the front row, however, the chest is compressed significantly more at 35 km/h, which can lead to more serious injuries, especially for older people. Thus, the crash test confirms the findings of ADAC accident research.

E parece que a Takata tem concorrência, em termos de airbags que provocam ferimentos no ocupantes

Air bag inflators manufactured in China by Jilin Province Detiannuo Automobile Safety System Co. Ltd. (DTN) are strictly prohibited from sale in the United States but have been found installed in American vehicles.

The vehicles involved had their original equipment air bags replaced with air bag modules containing substandard DTN air bag inflators following an earlier crash.

During subsequent crashes, the DTN air bag inflators malfunctioned and ruptured, sending large metal fragments into drivers’ chests, necks, eyes and faces, leading to death or severe injury.

O "espanto" é serem testes semelhantes, excepto (além do factor peso) o facto de o teste a menos velocidade ter causado um risco supostamente superior de ferimentos que o de velocidade superior.

Dizes bem. Em detalhe.

Repara na frase que começa com "unlike".

Portanto, em tradução livre, "ao contrário do teste de 2025..."

O resultado deste teste, Lino, é de facto bastante surpreendente. Mas baralharam muitas variáveis.

O carro é na verdade outro (peso é factor determinante), velocidade diferente e barreira diferente.

Portanto retirar conclusões de 1 quando 3 variam... Torna-se muito falacioso.

The crash test report noted:
  • The footwell area and bodyshell were found to be unstable and not capable of withstanding further loadings.
  • Side pole impact was not performed as the car does not offer standard side head protection for front and rear rows. The lack of this kind of protection exposes the head to the risk of severe injury even in a low speed side impact with a pole or tree.
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC) was standard, as were Seat Belt Reminders (SBRs) in all positions, although these did not meet Global NCAP requirements.

Global NCAP strongly criticises Chery for the recent publication of media statements using NCAP results not relevant to the models available in South Africa. NCAP assessments are market specific. Results should not be used selectively to give consumers a false impression of safety performance.

Richard Woods, Chief Executive Officer of Global NCAP, said:

“A two star rating for the Tiggo 7 Pro is very disappointing, but this poor result is seriously compounded by the publication of misleading information on crash test results from other markets. South African consumers need independent and accurate information to inform their purchasing decisions. Transparency and accountability on vehicle safety, not marketing smoke and mirrors.”

We further note recent media releases around the Tiggo 7 CSH and its five star Euro NCAP rating, and again find this information one-sided as it does not flag the safety inadequacies of the entry-level models in this very range. Euro NCAP ratings are also specific to that market, for a rating to be recognised locally the vehicle needs to be assessed under the #SaferCarsForAfrica campaign conducted by Global NCAP.

We have been asked repeatedly by the local consumer to start testing Chinese vehicle brands for local NCAP safety ratings. These latest results highlight two key areas, a continuing pattern in which vehicles sold in Africa do not offer the same safety performance as in other regions, alongside a heightened campaign to avoid disclosing to the local consumer the broader safety picture across a specific vehicle range.

O artigo completo do ADAC esclarece por que razão se verificou maior risco de ferimentos a 35 km/h do que a 50 km/h. Em primeiro lugar, isso aplica-se mais a pessoas mais idosas ou que, por outra razão, possuem uma robustez física reduzida, nomeadamente na resistência das costelas às fracturas.

Depois aqui a explicação principal:

"Os pré-tensores dos cintos não estão concebidos para tal
A razão para as cargas mais elevadas é simples: os limitadores de força do cinto são concebidos para outras velocidades. Isto mostra o quanto os fabricantes otimizam os cenários exigidos até agora pela Euro NCAP e outros institutos de medição, mas prestam menos atenção a outros cenários de colisão.

Enquanto o pré-tensor do cinto ainda cede um pouco em caso de colisão a 50 km/h para aliviar a pressão sobre o tronco, este sistema não funciona a 35 km/h. As pessoas caem então sobre o cinto sem amortecimento. Consequentemente, as cargas sobre o corpo são maiores."

Muito interessante!

Mas isto mostra claramente que os carros têm sido desenvolvidos segundo a bitola da EuroNCAP. (E suas congéneres).

Portanto por um lado as marcas necessitam das estrelas e dessa aprovação comparável. Mas por outro lado acabam por delegar algum do esforço e pesquisa interna sobre soluções mais abrangentes se solução.

Excepção feita talvez à Volvo (e a defunta SAAB) que ao longo de décadas e décadas esteve sempre mais além e tinha (não sei se continua a ter ) testes próprios e cenários totalmente diferentes da EuroNCAP.

E a BMW também, assim como a Ford/e as subsidiárias americanas, bem como a Opel eas subsidiárias americanas,pois as regras relacionadas com a segurança ativa e passiva na América sempre estiveram "mais à frente".

Atualmente verifica-se que, as marcas chinesas,muito por culpa de estarem nos grupos de marcas europeias, acabam por conseguir superar no requisito da segurança passiva, as marcas europeias.

Talvez uma mão de obra mais barata,a produção de componentes e sistemas de segurança mais barata, acaba por tornar fácil para as marcas chinesas,ofereceram uma panóplia de equipamentos de segurança, que não estão disponíveis ou não são standard nos carros europeus.

Se repararem , no grupo Stellantis quase nenhum modelo tem,airbags central dianteiro. Se compararem com as marcas chinesas,mesmo este airbags não sendo obrigatório, vem em praticamente todos os carros.

Depois há situações curiosas .

O Opel Mokka 1 europeu dispõem de 6 airbags, dois frontais, dois laterais e dois de cortina,enquanto que o mesmo carro na América dispõe,para além dos 6 airbags, mais dois laterais nos bancos traseiros e dois para os joelhos do condutor e passageiro. E o mais engraçado o tablier do Mokka,como por exemplo do meu tem, o sítio onde é feita a inscrição no plastico a dizer airbag.

Também a Renault efectuava diversos Crash tests, fora do habitual,mas depois do brilhante da década de 2000, parece que a marca relaxou.

O que se verifica agora, é na minha opinião o que se verificou, no início dos Crash tests do Euroncap,os carros não estão preparados para a dureza deste s novos testes.

O grupo Stellantis é um bom exemplo, onde os carros de gama baixa e nao só, têm dificuldades nos testes.

Comparem os Astras da era GM, sempre com excelentes resultados, com os obtidos pelo astra da Stellantis. Ou do Mokka da geração da GM com o da Stellantis.

Gostava de ver, o resultado do Crash test do novo Frontera e do Panda, mas não auguro nada de bom

O problema é o sistema das estrelas e dos pontos.

Esse sistema que classifica globalmente, a segurança de um carro, mascara muitas mentiras.

Por exemplo se pegarmos no teste do Volvo S70 o carro tem 4 estrelas,na média da primeira leva de carros de luxo a serem testados. Mas analisando bem os resultados, no embate frontal o condutor do Volvo sofre ferimentos mais graves do que por exemplo,o do Omega ou do classe E ,ambos com 3 estrelas graças ao airbag lateral da Volvo.

Deviam simplesmente fazer , como no tempo da AMS em que ,o que contava era as forças nos dummys,não havia cá pontos ou estrelas , e fazerem como o NHTSA, uma pontuação independente para o embate frontal e para o lateral

Assim, o Volvo S70 tinha duas avaliações, uma má nota no embate frontal e uma excelente no embate lateral.

Encontrei estas fotos dos anos 60, em que se vê um VW Carocha a ser testado, com airbags frontais.
Segundo o que li no post de onde tirei as imagens, a VW ao ver a polémica entre o Ralph Nader e a Chevrolet, e com receio que Nader fosse bater à sua porta devido à insegurança do Carocha,como aconteceu, decidi testar um sistema de airbags para limitar,o nível de ferimentos em caso de acidente.
