O Nacho espalhou-se e perdeu a liderança. Acabou a especial mas se calhar vai desistir porque não se sentia muito bem.

Isto, pelo menos nas motos, vai ser sofrer até ao fim! Será que a Ktm ainda leva o caneco e não a Honda? Ontem foram 3 Hondas nos primeiros lugares, mas hoje o Sunderland deu-lhe bem!!!

Infelizmente o Dakar voltou a ter mais uma baixa trágica no seu historial. O motociclista francês Pierre Cherpin, que tinha sofrido uma queda violenta na 7ª etapa, faleceu hoje quanda estava a ser transferido, por via aérea, de Jeddah para França. [s)]

During his transfer by medical plane from Jeddah to France on Thursday January 14th, Pierre Cherpin died from the injuries caused by his fall during the 7th stage from Ha’il to Sakaka on January 10th .
The rider crashed at km 178, around 1:00 p.m. Doctors found him unconscious when they reached him by helicopter. Taken to Sakaka’s hospital, the medical report revealed a severe head trauma with loss of consciousness. Urgently operated in the neurosurgery department, he had since then been kept in an induced coma, his condition having remained stable over the past few days. He was airlifted from Sakaka to Jeddah’s hospital from where he was going to be transferred to Lille’s hospital.
Passionate about wide open spaces, Pierre Cherpin was participating in his fourth Dakar. His first participation was back in 2009, when the Dakar took place for the first time in South America. He signed up in the unassisted bikers' category and came back in 2012 still in the same category. He completed the race both times. He came back for a third time in 2015 but he had to give up after an engine failure.
Six years later, in 2021, he joined the same category, known now as "Original by Motul". He was driven by the curiosity of discovering a new continent. On the evening of the 6th stage, he was occupying the 77th position in the general standings.
This 52-year-old entrepreneur and sailing enthusiast had no other ambitions than to experience an adventure, without really worrying about the podium: "I am an amateur, I don’t want to win but to discover landscapes that I would never have had the opportunity to see otherwise. Everything is exciting: riding the bike, living out your passion, getting to know yourself”.
The entire Dakar caravan would like to extend its sincere condolences to his family, relatives and friends.

Nunca fiz o Dakar, mas fiz uma expedição que envolveu 19 dias dentro do jipe, a fazer pistas do antigo Paris-Dakar, algumas vezes mais de 10h dentro do carro a "bater chocolate". Nunca discuti tanto com a minha mulher...
Lembro-me de outra viatura em que a meio da expedição os 2 elementos da equipa (masculina) cortaram mesmo relações.
Gostei do vencedor das Motos. Foi de facto um Dakar complicado para as Motos.
Já nos carros lá ganhou o Sr. Dakar.
Confesso que os carros e motos deviam ter algum tipo de limitação nas equipas. É muito dinheiro despejado para fazer um carro/moto novo para cada etapa.
Curioso a quantidade dos furos da pickup vs os buggy. Custou o Dakar ao Nasr.
Infelizmente no último dia houve também a má notícia que o piloto francês que tinha tido um acidente, acabou por falecer quando viajava para França.
Já nos carros lá ganhou o Sr. Dakar.

Para quem quiser ouvir alguns relatos dos tugas no Dakar, é passar no Facebook do Ricardo Porém, está lá um live moderado pelo JCC com a armada tuga dos carros e SSV. Gostei bastante, vale a pena ver.
