"The 1st title made Max stronger. Since then he's calmed down. Except in his quest for perfection. It's a bad sign for the competition... The next 2 years won't change much. And from 2026, as he is in symbiosis with his team and is very talented, they'll be able to meet this challenge together."

Alain Prost in a L'Équipe column on 8 October:

"Winning a third title is already something great. To win three in a row is even more so. Because only a few great names have managed it.

But I think what makes Max Verstappen so great and so strong is this ability that he has developed to never give up and always want more. There's no doubt that he has succeeded in becoming a great driver.

But what makes him even stronger, in my eyes, is the way he has learned to be at one with his car and his team. He's a great all rounder who strives for perfection every day. When you hear the driver complain about his single-seater's poor behavior during Friday morning free practice, it's not the anger of the kid who once made mistakes and sometimes ended up in the wall because of his impatience.

No, this Max disappeared at the end of 2021, at the end of his magnificent battle against Lewis Hamilton.
I'm not talking about the controversial Abu Dhabi finale, but about the way in which he and his Red Bull battled throughout the season against Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes. Beating the seven-time world champion gave him confidence and self-assurance.
This first title made him stronger. Since then, he's calmed down.

Except in his quest for perfection.

It's a bad sign for the competition because I don't see him leaving any time soon. The next two years without regulatory changes won't change much in his current strengths. And, from 2026 onwards, as he is in symbiosis with his team and is very talented, they will be able to meet this challenge together and at least fight for the title.

When I was driving, the hardest thing for me was always to be excluded from the battle for the Championship. I wanted to fight to the bitter end.

There's nothing worse than living through the 1987 or 1991 seasons, when the car didn't allow you to be among the front runners.

I think that Verstappen is the same and that he'll be able to stay motivated, not because he wants Schumacher's or Hamilton's seven titles, but because he's capable of winning every weekend and is likely to stay for a few years."
