Eu compro as coisas numa loja, não ao fabricante - é a loja que tem de resolver. Se não resolverem, aí sim tento com o fabricante.

Mas tu é que sabes se queres perder tempo com intermediários ou ter o problema resolvido mais depressa.

Reports suggest that several leading global PC component manufacturers have already started using the chips in upcoming products.

Production of DDR4 memory and motherboards is restarting amid unprecedented memory shortages​


We confirmed with over half a dozen sources: motherboard manufacturers and module houses are seeing an increase in demand for DDR4 platforms and shifting production accordingly. This could create challenges, however, as high-performance DDR4 dies, such as the famous Samsung B-dies, are no longer in production. As such, most of the revamped DDR4 kits will top out at a rather pedestrian DDR4-3600.

On the motherboard side of things, at least two vendors confirmed to Tom’s Hardware that they are ramping production of DDR4-supporting motherboards for the second half of the year and into 2027, which makes sense, given that motherboard sales have seen a “collapse” this year, with sales declining by as much as 37% with some vendors. Others have confirmed that they plan to either refresh or re-release DDR4-supporting options later in the year. Many of these products had been in end-of-life (EOL) status, so production lines had long ago shifted to other products. Now new manufacturing capacity will be dedicated to restoring those product families.

This comes as demand for DDR4 platforms has increased. One motherboard brand cited a double-digit increase in sales over the last quarter, which Tom’s Hardware was unable to corroborate, while others simply said the demand has increased significantly.

AMD and Intel have geared up for a shift back to DDR4, as well. AMD launched the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition at Computex, which the company says it will continue to sell as long as it makes sense; in other words, it’s not a limited edition run.

Intel continues to sell its Raptor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs, as well, and the company told Tom’s Hardware it “will continue to make sure that there are products which can take care of older memory technologies.” One motherboard vendor said it was specifically ramping production of LGA 1700 motherboards with DDR4 support, as options have slowly dried up in the market.
Although there is already DDR4 in the market, it’s also easier to produce, which would help elevate some of the bottlenecks in the current memory supply chain. One of the key shortages right now is advanced packaging, which DDR5 requires with an integrated PMIC. DDR4, by comparison, is much simpler to package and sell, which should help keep prices from climbing into the DDR5 range.



8GB of RAM is back on laptops — companies are lowering memory offerings to make affordable notebooks during component crisis​

But at Computex, we saw that the Windows PC industry is also moving to 8GB. The $699 Dell XPS 13, one of the standout products of the show, will start at 8GB of memory along with an Intel Core Series 3 ("Wildcat Lake") processor. Acer, too, has a $699 Wildcat Lake-based system, the Swift Air 14, which will have an Intel Core 5 chip, 512GB of storage, and, yes, 8GB of RAM.

Ahead of the show, Chuwi announced its UniBook, with a weaker Core Series 3 304 CPU, 256GB of storage, and, you guessed it, 8GB of RAM. That's set to be the cheapest one so far, with Chuwi promising a launch "around $449."

And in May, when Microsoft announced its latest Surface for Business devices, it included a new Surface Laptop for Business 13-inch with 8GB of RAM starting at a whopping $1,299.99, so 8GB isn't just relegated to the budget space.



TSMC Warns Chip Supply Won’t Meet AI-Fueled Demand for Years​

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s global chip supply will fall short of AI-fueled demand for years to come, chief executive officer C.C. Wei said, suggesting production capacity remains a key bottleneck in the buildout of global computing infrastructure.

TSMC won’t be able to fulfill demand led by American customers even as more manufacturing capacity comes online in the US over the next few years, Wei told shareholders on Thursday. Still, Taiwan’s largest company — which makes the majority of the world’s advanced semiconductors for AI — will refrain from initiating the sort of abrupt price hikes that shook up the memory chip sector, Wei added. TSMC’s intent is to ensure a stable business, he said at an annual shareholders’ meeting in Hsinchu, Taiwan.

Wei reiterated a forecast for sales growth of more than 30% for this year — an outlook TSMC raised just weeks ago. Asia’s largest company is an essential player in the global AI industry, making cutting-edge semiconductors for the likes of Nvidia Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. TSMC has been expanding its footprint beyond its home island to add capacity, yet even that isn’t enough to satisfy all needs with major hyperscalers set to spend $725 billion on AI this year alone.

“It will be a long time before we can meet customer demand,” Wei said.

Intel reportedly preparing surprise return to DDR4 systems with 'Raptor Lake Next' — LGA 1700 platform apparently slated for first half of 2027​

At the event, Tom’s Hardware heard that Intel has plans to launch “Raptor Lake Next” CPUs within the first half of 2027. The CPUs would mark the third refresh of Intel’s Raptor Lake range, which first debuted with 13th-Gen chips. The chips will reportedly live alongside Intel’s upcoming Nova Lake range, which the company intends to introduce at CES next year.

We don’t know the proper name of the CPUs yet, just that they’re referred to as “Raptor Lake Next” and will arrive some months after the first Nova Lake chips have hit the market. At least two motherboard vendors confirmed to Tom’s Hardware plans to increase production of DDR4 motherboards, both for AM4 and LGA 1700, citing increased DDR4 demand. They did not comment on Raptor Lake Next.​

Há muito consumidor final que ainda não se apercebeu desta crise mas isto vai com€çar a ap€rtar. Daqui a vários anos poderá ser um luxo ter um computador/smartphone/etc moderno.
Parece que a bolha da IA não vai rebentar tão cedo.

Até agora lido com isso sem problemas. Só que com o Windows 11 tenho receio em perder performance.

Em caso de adicionar mais 8, quanto fica a brincadeira? Já vi preços de 60 a 80 euros.

Até agora lido com isso sem problemas. Só que com o Windows 11 tenho receio em perder performance.

Em caso de adicionar mais 8, quanto fica a brincadeira? Já vi preços de 60 a 80 euros.
Para o portatil é barato. A ram para os desktops é que disparou imenso.
 
Tenho no meu portatil instalada a placa wireless Realtek 8821CE Wireless Lan 802.11ac, a mesma está atualizada com o ultimo driver que saiu, e não consigo ter mais de 320Mb de velocidade no teste do speedtest, tendo contratado 1Gbps em casa.

Não percebendo muito da coisa, o meu telemóvel consegue 600mb de velocidade, por isso esperava o mesmo do computador, e já andei a mexer nas definições da placa mas não passa daquele valor.

Será que é algo que se tenha que mexer no router?

Pelas specs dessa placa diria que na vida real não vais conseguir mais que isso e mesmo na teoria, seriam só 400 Mbps ou pouco mais.

Estive a ler que isso tem single stream adapter então na teoria andará pelos 200 Mbps.

Pois, já suspeitava mas obrigado na mesma.

Tranquilo.

Mas já ficas bem servido com esses valores.
Só notas diferença se for pa algum mega download, ou videos em 1440p ou coisas assim.

Importante mesmo é a latency que acredito que seja baixa, esse valor tb é mostrado lá no speedtest.
