ASEAN NCAP has posted its latest assessment results for the Neta V and they have given it an appalling zero-star rating. This is the first EV to be sold at the minimum permitted price of RM100,000 in Malaysia and it lacks advanced driver assistance and safety features that often come as standard in modern cars.

The Neta V obtained an overall score of 28.55 points, consisting of 7.89 points for Adult Occupant, 13.51 points for Child Occupant, 7.14 points for Safety Assist and 0 points for Motorcyclist safety.

The Neta V is the first vehicle from Neta to be assessed by ASEAN NCAP and they found that the budget EV performed poorly in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category which is contributed only by the score from the side impact test. It also highlighted that the seatbelts equipped for the two front passengers do not have any retractor pre-tensioner and load limiters.

It also added that frontal offset tests show poor protection to the frontal occupants starting with weak body structure to the front occupants and compromised restraint system, which greatly jeopardised the safety of the car occupants.

When it comes to Safety Assist Technology (SAT), the Neta V is equipped with effective braking and avoidance (EBA) and a seat belt reminder which is only available for the driver. The electric SUV was given no points for the Motorcyclist Safety category as none of the technology listed according to the ASEAN NCAP protocol were offered.
In terms of safety features, the Neta V is very basic with just two airbags, ABS, EBD, Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control.
As a comparison, the BYD Dolphin which starts from RM100,000 for the standard range model is equipped with 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, TCS and even Level 2 ADAS including automatic emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping support, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot detection and emergency lane keeping assist. The BYD Dolphin received a 5-star rating from Euro NCAP last year.

The Neta V isn’t the first EV tested by ASEAN NCAP. As a comparison, the Vinfast VF8 and e34 electric SUVs received 5-star and 4-star safety ratings respectively in 2022.

According to ASEAN NCAP, the Proton eMAS 7’s passenger compartment remained stable during testing, providing good protection to both the driver and front passenger. This strong performance is attributed to the eMAS 7’s high-strength, cage-type body structure designed for enhanced occupant safety.

The Cell-to-Body (CTB) construction of the eMAS 7 batteries also help increase torsional rigidity of the vehicle, while also enhancing passenger safety.

Standard safety features in the eMAS 7 include six airbags and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning.

Scores are meant to be broken, and Proton has done just that with its first fully electric vehicle (EV), the Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7). Achieving a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating and an impressive score of 92.57 points, the Proton eMAS 7 has surpassed the Chery Omoda 5 to claim the top spot among all vehicles tested by ASEAN NCAP this year.

Tested under the stringent 2021-2025 protocol, the Proton eMAS 7 has achieved 31.20 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection, 44.17 out of 51 points for child occupant protection, a perfect 21 out of 21 points for safety assist, and 13 out of 16 points for motorcyclist safety.

Tesla Cybertruck alcança excelente resultado nos crash tests do NHTSA
https://www.sicurauto.it/crash-test...il-crash-test-ufficiale-nhtsa-smentisce-musk/

The Polestar 3 was tested together with five other new SUVs. These included the new BYD SEALION 7, an electric large SUV made in China, which matched the Polestar 3’s impressive Child Occupant score of 93 per cent but didn’t perform as robustly in the other tests. However, the SEALION 7 was also awarded a five-star Euro NCAP rating.

Cupra’s new TERRAMAR, which the Spanish car company offers as a conventional petrol-powered model or a plug-in hybrid (as tested by Euro NCAP), also performed strongly, with solid results in the Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, and Vulnerable Road Users categories, ensuring it was awarded a five-star safety rating.

The Hongqi E-HS9 is another new electric SUV entrant from China. While it also achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating, in post-test inspections, a small tear was found in the driver’s airbag. A penalty was applied to the score of the level of head protection in both frontal impact tests. Hongqi has investigated the cause of the tear and says quality checking has been improved at the car’s assembly plant and at the airbag supplier.

Rounding off the latest group of new SUVs to be assessed, the JAECOO 7 PHEV also achieved a five-star rating but lost points after the frontal collision test, as the rear of the side curtain airbag got trapped in the C-pillar trim and did not deploy properly. JAECOO’s investigation revealed that one of the clips holding the airbag in place had not been properly installed during production. The company said production line quality has been improved as a result.
