2015 Ford Mustang poderá ter menos 181kg - Worldcarfans

Ford is counting down to the Mustang's 50th anniversary and new details are starting to emerge about the next-generation model.

According to Edmunds' sources, the pony car will be at least 400 lbs (181 kg) lighter than the outgoing model. If these numbers pan out, the 2015 Mustang could tip the scales at approximately 3,100 lbs (1406 kg) which would make it significantly lighter than rivals such as the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger.

To hit this target, the Mustang will reportedly be smaller and use more aluminum than the current model. We can also expect improved structural engineering to help reduce the amount of material that is needed to build the model.

As for the car's dimensions, the unidentified informant said it will be approximately 15 inches (38cm) shorter and roughly 6.5 inches (16,50cm) narrower than the current model.

The source declined to comment on engines but previous reports have indicated the car could be offered with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost that develops 350 bhp (261 kW) and a 5.0-liter V8 that produces approximately 450 bhp (335 kW). There have also been rumors about an entry-level V6 and range-topping Shelby GT350 with "substantially more" than 450 bhp (335 kW).

After a long hunt fraught with many dead-ends, we caught this revealing look at the face of the 2015 Mustang.

The need for optimum engine cooling and aerodynamic efficiency has given us our first look at the 2015 Mustang's hood and front fascia. Photographed during high-speed, high-performance tests at a race circuit, Ford engineers removed the Mustang prototype's heavy camouflage from the A-pillar, forward, revealing the framework of the S550's front fascia with yet unfinished sheetmetal.

Grille
While the influence is clearly there, the hypermodernity of the Evos concept has been tempered by the Mustang's muscle car ethos. The shape of the grille opening is very similar to the Evos, but the concept's smooth finish gives way to a chunkier treatment on the Mustang. The grille-work is set deep within the outer aperture, with two angled, vertical posts set wide at the corners bringing in some of Ford's Kinetic design influence. The galloping Mustang logo can be seen at the grille's center, slightly obscured by tape.

Headlights
While the headlights are covered in black tape, we get a look at their general shape and placement. Although not as long and slit-like, the Mustang's headlights look to have an Evos influence that modernizes the current design. We feel they have an appropriate "Mustang" essence and seem well integrated into the prototype's design.

Hood
The gaping grille sweeps back into a complex, shapely hood design, with a strong, prominent shelf stretching back from the headlights, and a nicely contoured hood bulge outlined by some sharply chiseled elements at its outer edges. We can also see signs of two panels placed on the hood--just outside of the central bulge--that suggest some form of vents, or other design flourish.

What Else?
The chiseled front diffuser continues into sharply creased side sills, adding some real definition to the lower flanks. Those sills continue around into the rear bumper, sweeping up into the bumper's rear valance, ultimately framing the Mustang's round, dual exhaust tips in the still thoroughly camouflaged rear end.

2015 Mustang to Pack State-of-the-Art Tech, Says Ford Insider

The next-generation Mustang will be the most advanced musclecar ever in terms of technology and safety, an anonymous Ford insider told Torque News.

Not exactly surprising news if you ask us, as every next-generation vehicle betters its predecessor, but an unnamed member for the Mustang development team revealed that the new pony will gain a wide range of high-tech features based on the latest technologies fitted on current Ford products.

The source decline to offer actual details or hints on what to expect, but the 2015 Mustang should get a state-of-the-art infotainment and navigation system, a configurable gauge cluster, blind spot detection, lane departure, backup sensors and new suspension technology.

In addition, the Ford insider confirmed that most renderings showing the sixth-generation Mustang “aren’t far off” from the real thing.

The highly-anticipated Detroit-developed musclecar will be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show in January, while more details are expected to surface towards the end of the year. Stick around more info.

Our 2015 Mustang Preview Derived From CAD Designs

We're thrilled to present to you the most life-like and accurate preview yet of the production base-model 2015 Mustang, skillfully rendered by Mustang6G resident artist, chazcron!

What makes these images different than any before it is that they are not the result of speculation, but refined from CAD images of the actual car, with our various spy photos used as a starting point. What you see here is a digitally accurate preview of the base 2015 Mustang; and we think it's quite a looker.

The production front end design comes as no surprise as it was shown in unfinished form in these earlier spy photos. What's new however, is that we can now show an accurate preview of the production rear. The most distinguishing elements are the distinctive louvered tail lights and the triangular framed reverse/fog lights in the lower rear bumper. The new Mustang gets a sleeker overall silhouette with an angled fastback rear roofline which extends deep into the trunk lid and a slightly rounded rear valence to give the car a sportier appearance.

One design feature that is new to Mustangs and not yet reflected in this model is a shallow double-bubble roof that would only be slightly visible from these angles. This will be shown on renders to come. Overall, Ford designers have kept its restyled 50th Anniversary pony car quintessentially Mustang in looks, but breathed many modern elements into the new model.

When will we be able to see this render brought to life by Ford? Our sources have indicated that we will see the S550 in December with the car being teased in the next couple of months. So stay tuned Mustang fans, it's going to be an exciting end of the year!
