A suspensão independente para o sucessor do Mustang é dado adquirido. Se é ou não pedido dos fãs é irrelevante.
Não foi pelo facto de o Camaro trazer suspensão independente que o impediu de ultrapassar em vendas o Mustang (as vendas do Mustang decairam de forma expressiva nos últimos anos).
O passo para a suspensão independente e dimensões mais compactas, parece-me óbvio que vai de encontro às preocupações da marca em tornar este carro um produto global, reduzindo o nivel de "americanices".
Se quer fazer frente aos europeus e garantir vendas, sabe que precisa de dinâmica mais acutilante e, um interior capaz de se equivaler a propostas rivais.
Apesar da estratégia "One Ford" implicar o mesmo carro em todo o mundo, certamente veremos as variantes europeias trazerem acertos dinâmicos especificos, assim como "plásticos mais fofinhos"

Até a forte probabilidade de vir com 4 cilindros vai nesse sentido.

Relativamente à drag strip, tal como a Dodge faz com o Challenger, e acho que a Ford também o faz com o Mustang, temos um Drag Pack, já preparado para a categoria pro-stock, e como raros devem ser os muscle-cars que ficam standard (grosso do business case destas criaturas é mesmo o da personalização), existe inúmeras opções de upgrades nesse sentido.
E dado aquilo que temos andado a ver em outras marcas, não é de deitar fora a hipótese de esquemas de suspensão distintos dentro da gama.

A colocação da suspensão independente é um exercicio seguro, fazer ao Mustang um trabalho similar ao que foi feito no Camaro é sempre boa ideia.

O que eu queria referir, nem sequer passa pela obrigatoriedade de usar um eixo rigido, nem sequer este tipo de suspensão por si propria, vai atrair clientes no geral, nem sou apologista do eixo rigido. Seja como for, é desejavel que estes carros tragam um sabor diferente ao que tendencialmente se faz na Europa. Para variar e não desvirtuar.

Se por um lado alguns carros deixam um sorriso no rosto pelo seu comportamento de cardume, e pelo extase de fazer excelentes tempos, outros deverão causar um sorriso que em não faça sentido fazer um segundo, ou dois, a menos no circuito. Por otro lado, é interesante do ponto de vista da engenharia, obter um comportamento equivalente com soluções menos complicadas. o Aveo, por exemplo, fica bem servido com eixo rigido, "chassis para dar e vender" como ja foi referido na AH.

Tanto no caso do eixo rigido e eixo de torção (GT Track), ambos são trabalho interessantes por parte da Ford.

CarScoop Exclusive: The All-New 2015 Ford Mustang Precisely Imagined

As mentioned in our recent 'The New Faces of CarScoop's 2015 Mustang' article, we have been working hard over the past few weeks to give you the most accurate look of the 2015 Mustang yet.Hours upon hours have been consumed in getting the look as close to the real thing as possible via feedback and our own extensive investigation, and now, we can finally show you what the next generation of pony car will look like.
The Mustang has been Ford's halo car since 1964, and the 2015MY 'Stang is expected to emerge from the stables in time for its 50th birthday. This nameplate is one of the longest running in Ford's automotive history - and that's something you do not want to mess up. Bearing this in mind, taking on the challenge of rendering the actual 2015 version was hugely exciting.

Working closely with our own sources as well as gathering all the information we could, including from a Ford forum thread that concerned a recent consumer clinic about the next Mustang(and which by the way, has since been shut down…), we created these renderings. The car in question has been designed in GT trim, so one can expect even wilder versions like the Boss 302, CS, and GT500 down the track.
The first striking thing upon viewing the car is how similar the front resembles the new Ford Fusion (Mondeo in Europe); it's not a complete clone but it is frighteningly close. The fog lights (with LED turn signals), grille and headlamps are similar; almost taking away that styling independence the Mustang had previously enjoyed. In fact, one person we spoke to had the view that if the grille emblem were to be removed, the car would lose its Mustang identity.
The styling of the classic side C-Channel takes on a more streamlined theme compared to Pony cars of old and is quite restrained; something that could be attributed to the global aspirations Ford is seeking with the new car - it will have to appeal to Europeans as much as it does with buyers on its home turf.
The glasshouse of the next generation model will be surprisingly conventional. The side quarter windows could be of any car as the unique floating items of the current model are gone. Fortunately, the roof helps redeem things with its twin bulges over the driver and passenger, giving it a more Jet-fighter appearance.
As one glances around to the rear of the coupe, you will notice that the classic Mustang tail remains, almost appearing at odds with the Fusion-like front. The taillights are enclosed in a glossy black panel, just like on the current car, except they protrude out more. Another detail required for European sales is the rear LED fog light, embedded between the quad exhausts on the lower diffuser; it almost stands out as an oddity.

Whilst there is nothing bad about conforming to European requirements, one does wonder if the strength of the Mustang design DNA has been watered down to please those on both sides of the Atlantic, resulting in what could be described as a "revolutionary compromise".
Aside from the exterior design, Carscoop learned that the new Mustang will feature an instrument cluster similar to the current car with a convex brushed-aluminum dash panel. Other highlights will include the MyFord Touch screen flanked by audio controls on both sides, plus an oddly placed red starter button.
As for the engine lineup, we are told that aside from the usual V8 range, the new Mustang will be offered with four-cylinder and V6 turbocharged EcoBoost units.
What do you, as a reader, think; has Ford gone too timid or has it struck the perfect balance between classic and modern? One thing is for sure, it won't be much longer before we officially find out…

The first information about the 2015 Ford Mustang

We have previously shown that the new generation of Ford Mustang debut 2015thyear (the 50-year anniversary model), and the media has already passed the first unofficial information.

Ford had previously announced that the 2015 Mustang will be a global model, which will be sold around the world, and therefore the design will lose one full-blooded retro style that has adorned it until now. Ford Mustang promises to continue to have a certain amount of retro design, but with modern lines. Judging by the render, made by American Car & Driver magazine and website Jalopnik.com, the design will be largely inspired by the Ford EVOS concept.

The biggest news is the modern reliance, as well as the first four-cylinder engine since 1993. year.
As before, the standard engine will be a 3.7L V6 with about 305KS and will only be available to U.S. customers.

The global model will carry the SVO badge in honor of 1984-1986 models, and will have 2.3L EcoBoost I4 engine with about 315KS and consumption on the highway below seven liters per 100 km. It is interesting that the original SVO also had a 2.3L turbo engine, but with significantly less power (205-225KS, depending on the year).
At the top of the range model will be the GT with 5.0L V8 engine and 440KS.

Shelby American had previously announced that it has an agreement with Ford to produce their own versions of the Mustang until 2020. year, and already mentioned EcoBoost 5.0L V8 engine with approximately 700KS.

Special models, such as the Boss 302, will again be offered, but there is no doubt that Ford will do in the years to modern versions of special models, which include not only the Boss 302 and Mach 1 already, Roush, Saleen and many Shelby models.

The official presentation of 2015 Mustang should follow at the Detroit Auto Show 2014th year, while sales could start later.

Vamos lá a saber as mais recentes informações acerca deste ícone automóvel (vou tentar ser breve).

O Ford que ainda mantém o nome de origem mais antigo é o Mustang”, sendo que as siglas GT e Boss 302 já se tornaram míticas neste modelo.
Contudo, em 2014 a Ford pretende operar o mais revolucionário redesign de sempre no Mustang para se tornar num modelo global.

Segundo algumas fontes irá chegar a 17 de abril de 2104. E porquê?
Porque nesse fará 50 anos em que começou a ser comercializado o 1º Mustang. Portanto, ma data cheia de simbolismo.

Plataforma:
Em termos de dimensões o Mustang de 2014 não irá diferir muito do atual, mas terá uma carroçaria completamente nova.
Tanto a traseira como a frente serão ligeiramente mais estreitos/baixos.
A distância entre eixos será 2cm mais curta, numa plataforma consideravelmente mais leve e com melhores níveis de segurança com zonas de deformação melhor programadas.

Suspensão:
Terá uma suspensão traseira independente multilink permitindo aumentar o espaço no banco traseiro e da mala.
A configuração de braço na dianteira irá permanecer, mas com uma nova geometria e controlo inferior dos braços em alumínio.
Seis pistões de grandes pinças de travão serão standard nos modelos de elevada performance.

Motor:
Ao contrário do atual Mustang que apenas é comercializado na zona NAFTA, a ford decretou que aproxima geração do carro imortalizado com um pónei será comercializado a nível global.
Tendo isso em conta, a gama de motores irá expandir-se muito além dos atuais V6 e três opções V8 a gasolina.

Fala-se que irá mesmo ter um 4 cilindros em linha atmosférico para o oriente e Europa.
Mas o 4 cilindros chegará igualmente chegar ao mercado norte-americano, de onde não se via um motor tão pequeno neste modelo desde 1993. Contudo, terá um turbo num motor de 2.4 litros com injeção direta.
O motor de 4 cilindros EcoBoost terá uma potência acima dos 250cv, e um nível de consumos muito baixos.

O 3.7 V6 sofrerá uma atualização aumentando a potência e melhorando as prestações e consumos.
O GT terá o V8 de 5 litros com uma potência na ordem dos atuais 420cv, enquanto o Boss 302 deverá rondar os 450cv.

Para substituir o Shelby GT500 com um pesado motor de 5,8 litros biturbo de 662cv, a Ford está a preparar uma alternativa mais pequena e mais potente.

As transmissões manuais serão mantidas, mas provavelmente terá como opcional uma transmissão automática de 8 velocidades.

O “estilo”:
Quando há 1 ano no Salão de Frankfurt a Ford apresentou o concept Evos, afirmou que esse coupé representava “a mais moderna expressão da linguagem global da Ford”.
Através dos últimos meses os responsáveis da Ford, através de declarações e insinuações, deram a entender que no Evos está a génese do novo Mustang.
Embora o Evos seja uma máquina atrativa, ao olhar para ele dificilmente conseguimos ver ali um Mustang.

Porém, não seria a 1ª vez que o modelo abandonaria o seu visual pré-estabelecido para vestir uma imagem mais limpa e fora do habitual.
Mas um Mustang que esqueça os elementos originais do 1º modelo poderá estar condenado ao fracasso, pelo que a ansiedade em torno desta nova geração é enorme, não só nos EUA como em todo o mundo que o irá receber.

Ford has confirmed the European version of the 2015 Mustang will be offered with a four-cylinder, 2.3-liter engine.
We first heard about this in October when it was only a rumor but now we have confirmation from the Blue Oval company this engine will power the next-gen Mustang in Europe as an alternative to a highly-taxable V8. The eight-cylinder engine will still be available for buyers from the old continent.
The four-cylinder is based on the 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost mill inside the Focus ST but its output will increase from 250 HP (184 kW) to approximately 300 HP (220 kW) for the 2.3-liter variant, according to firm insiders.
There are slim chances of seeing this engine hit stateside where customers will probably prefer the more powerful alternative. No details right now about a specific launch date.

Ainda assim, acho que podiam ter espremido um pouco mais o motor. 300 cv para um 2.3 não me parece que seja algo especial. Ainda para mais, tendo a Ford lançado recentemente o RS500 com 350 cv do 2.5.

Ford Rumored to Launch 2014 ½ Mustang Limited to 1,000 Units for 50th Anniversary


There is a recurring rumor that Ford will release a 2014 ½ model year version of the upcoming sixth generation Mustang to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the series and thus pay homage to the first Mustang introduced in April of 1964, which is referred to as a "1964½" model by fans of the car.

The story first came up last November when a Ford rep posted about it on theTheMustangSource forums: "The 2014 ½ will be the 50th Anniversary edition," the representative stated at the time. "It will be added to production for a limited run sometime during the year." However, she soon backed away saying it wasn't so, and "Okay, we made a mistake. We misunderstood the information and we’re sorry for causing all this confusion."

Now, the same rumor has re-surfaced at Mustangdaily, which cites an inside Ford source who said that the 2014 ½ is still in the works and that the Blue Oval is considering a limited run of 1,000 cars without providing any information on what special features will set the car apart from the regular Mustangs.

The Ford Mustang will celebrate its 50th anniversary on April 17, 2014, and to mark this important event, the Blue Oval has launched a new online weekly video series called the “Mustang Countdown”. The series reveals the stories behind its most famous model and how it has influenced people all over the world.The first videos released include a behind-the-scenes look at the Mustang 1 concept, the build of the 1 millionth Mustang at Flat Rock Assembly Plant and the way the Mustang has influenced the toy industry, among others. Future episodes will cover restomods, racing, custom Mustangs, video games and more, all featuring unique and rare footage, exclusive new interviews and expert insight.

The series debuts with the video called “Where It All Started: The Mustang 1 Concept”, which takes us back in time for the 1962 debut of the study that gave birth to the Mustang legend.
