"...I finally saw one this weekend. White limited with the 3.2 and Black interior. Smaller than I envisioned, definitely looks better in person but the rear cargo area is pretty tight. Fit and finish was excellent however I don't think white is the most becoming color for it. On a side note an older couple who had just bought a 14 limited GC stopped on their was out to talk to me and asked my opinion about the Cherokee , basically they really liked it but needed the extra room hence the GC. They thought it was ugly when they saw it online but they loved it in person. I think it will be a hit for Chrysler. I didn't get to drive it like I wanted but when the trailhawks show up I plan on taking one for a spin. I hope they have one when I pick up my Dart GT this weekend...."

Também achava-o estranho, mas agora adoro (essencialmente a versão TrailHawk).

Estilo muitos anos à frente da concorrência e com umas aptidões TT que só a Land rover consegue igualar.

Apesar das fotografias não serem o seu melhor forte, fisicamente ao lado do carro, as pessoas têm ficado bastantes satisfeitas com o resultado final. Aguardo pelas notícias dos primeiros números de vendas.

Também era dos que achava este carro um verdadeiro aborto, mas desde que o vi ao vivo mudei ligeiramente de opinião. Logicamente que não possui uma beleza incontestável, mas está irreverente. A frente que sempre pensei que fosse o pior está simplesmente magnífica (tem um aspecto "rude" e ao mesmo tempo desportiva) e a traseira acaba por sair mal no conjunto devido a ter demasiada "chapa". No entanto em cores escuras acaba por disfarçar bem (o que não acontece na fotografia do modelo vermelho anteriormente colocado).
Lateralmente também está bem conseguido e em termos de dimensões está bem proporcionado.
Ainda não consegui perceber a gama de preços para Portugal (não encontro a informação em lado nenhum), mas no stand a versão 2.0 diesel 140cv 4x2 longitude custava entre os 45.000€ e os 47.000€ dependendo dos packs que possuíam. Confesso que pensei que fosse mais barato (talvez uns 40.000€ nos 4x2).

O aspecto que mais marca neste modelo é efectivamente a frente, sendo de realçar o detalhe da grelha vincada.
Penso que em termos estéticos será como o Juke... Ou se ama ou se odeia.

Autohoje - Novo Jeep Cherokee chega por 43 mil euros

A Jeep anunciou a introdução do Cherokee, numa edição exclusiva para a Península Ibérica. Esta versão de lançamento, cujas primeiras unidades já estão disponíveis nos concessionários da marca, surge com motor Diesel Multijet II 2.0 de 140 cv – disponível a partir de 43 mil euros. O SUV do segmento D tem transmissão dianteira e caixa manual de seis velocidades, anunciando consumos de 5,3 l/100 km e emissões de CO2 de 139 g/km.

Nesta fase, o modelo estará disponível apenas no nível de equipamento Longitude, ao qual se juntará mais tarde o nível de equipamento Limited. Entre os opcionais está o pack Comfort, por mais 800 euros, o pack Technology por mais 1450 euros e o pack Dynamic por 350 euros. De série surge equipado com seteairbags (frontais de abertura faseada, laterais de cortina e de joelhos para o condutor), ESC (Controle Eletrónico de Estabilidade) com função ERM – anti capotamento e ABS com calibração TT.

Para reforçar os argumentos fora de estrada a Jeep aposta nos novos sistemas de tração integral Active Drive e Active Drive Lock, com bloqueio de diferencial traseiro. Nota ainda para o sistema de infotainment Uconnect com ecrã tátil de 5 e 8,4 polegadas.
No decorrer do próximo ano, será introduzida uma versão de 170 cv do mesmo motor, acoplado a uma nova caixa automática de nove relações.

How A Sporty Alfa Romeo Spawned A Rock-Crawling Jeep - Forbes

I’ve got only three wheels on the ground, and all I can see is blue sky as the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk I’m driving scrambles nimbly up a steep, boulder-strewn trail at Chrysler’s 3,800-acre proving grounds. When I reach the crest of the hill, I can finally see what’s ahead: a rutted pathway leading down to a muddy creek. I splash into the stream, pushing a wave of water away from the bumper. Around the bend, I encounter the unexpected: a flight of concrete steps. Really? Up we go; the Jeep showing no hesitation.I’m trying to wrap my head around the fact that this rugged rock crawler was spawned by a sporty Italian hatchback. It’s crazy, but true: the new Jeep Cherokee shares the same lineage as the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, a premium compact sold in Europe by Italy’s Fiat SpA.

Platform-sharing is the big trend in the auto industry. Companies like Volkswagen and Ford Motor are saving billions of dollars by designing distinct models that share a common engineering architecture. Still, the joint pedigree of the Giulietta and the Cherokee takes the idea of platform-sharing to the extreme. One is a premium front-wheel-drive hatchback most comfortable on the streets of Rome or Milan. The other is an all-American 4×4 that can tackle even the roughest terrain. Somehow, the carmakers pulled it off.

Fiat and Chrysler have been partners since 2009, when Fiat gained control of the U.S. carmaker after its government-brokered bankruptcy. As part of the deal with the Obama Administration, Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne promised to share Fiat’s small-car engineering expertise with Chrysler. The deal was equally crucial for Fiat, however, because the Italian carmaker needed higher sales volumes to fully leverage its capital investments. Teaming up with Chrysler, in fact, was seen as the key to reviving Fiat’s ailing Alfa Romeo brand, whose annual global sales had fallen to about 100,000 units.

The Giulietta was the linchpin to the whole strategy. Under the plan crafted by Marchionne, now CEO of both companies, the Giulietta’s modular engineering platform (called CUS-wide) would become the basis for an entire line of spin-off models to be sold as small- and mid-sized Fiats, Lancias, Chryslers, Dodges and Jeeps. The first U.S. model under the shared strategy was the 2013 Dodge Dart. Next year, Chrysler will launch a replacement for its mid-sized 200 sedan based on the same underpinnings.

The compact Dart was relatively easy to do. Chrysler engineers let out the seams a bit on the Giulietta’s platform – the Dart is 13 inches longer and two inches wider – but kept its agile, fun-to-drive experience, including Fiat’s high-efficiency four-cylinder MultiAir engine (one of three powertrain choices in the Dart). While the Dodge looks nothing like the Alfa Romeo, they share many components under the hood such as the steering system, front suspension and engine box.

The Jeep Cherokee was a different challenge entirely. It fills a hole left by the discontinued Jeep Liberty, a small, boxy SUV designed in a different era when fuel economy, ride and handling weren’t as important. So the new Cherokee had to be stylish, smooth-handling and fuel-efficient to get back in the game against leading crossovers like the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V and Toyota Rav4. But as a Jeep, it also had to be authentic, which means it had to be able to climb up a rocky trail — or even an occasional flight of stairs.

The Cherokee’s on-road manners and fuel efficiency were achieved by adapting the modular architecture of the Giulietta — and the Dart, for that matter — to an SUV. Though all three were spawned from the same global underpinnings, in the end, only about 5 percent of the parts in the Cherokee are shared with the Alfa Romeo. Still, because many of the components are modular and interchangeable, the carmaker was able to achieve better quality and reliability, while cutting costs, vehicle development time and tooling.

The Cherokee has a choice of two new fuel-efficient engines, the segment’s first nine-speed automatic transmission and three available all-wheel-drive systems, which add up to huge leaps in fuel economy and performance. It gets up to 31 miles per gallon on the highway, a 45 percent improvement over the Liberty, matching the EPA highway ratings of the Escape, CR-V and RAV4.

The top-of-the-line Trailhawk version, with the segment’s only locking rear axle, is what separates the Cherokee from the rest of the pack, allowing drivers the ability for serious off-roading. “You’re probably not going to come across a set of concrete stair steps in the wilderness, but an off-roader will encounter rocks, stumps and other obstructions that the Cherokee will need to step over,” said Mary Parker, manager of Durability Testing at Chrysler’s Proving Grounds.

Even so, Jeep had a bit of an inferiority complex to contend with. The Liberty lagged so far behind its rivals in what had become the hottest segment of the market that engineers overcompensated when they designed its replacement. The interior is just as elegant as its big brother, the Grand Cherokee, with fluid shapes, high-quality materials and an attention to detail that raises the bar for mid-sized SUVs. The Cherokee also offers features not found in other crossovers like a panoramic roof; a heated steering wheel; heated and cooled front seats, and even an available wireless charging pad.

One happy discovery I made on a cold morning: the Cherokee automatically turns on the heated seats and steering wheel when it detects a drop in temperature below 40 degrees. Chrysler also loaded up the Cherokee with more than 70 safety and security features, including a park assist system that helps with both parallel parking and pull-in parking.

Prices start at $22,995 for a front-wheel-drive Cherokee equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The most capable Trailhawk package starts at $29,495 for the four-cylinder version or $30,990 with a 3.2-liter V6. Fully loaded, the Cherokee can approach $38,000, but with all those features and appointments, it seems like a bargain compared to many luxury crossovers. And none of those can match the Jeep’s off-road capability.

Afinal os italianos sabem fazer carros. Com a plataforma do Giulietta serão já 5 modelos (Giulietta, Dart, Viaggio/Ottima, Cherokee e 200/Flavia) distintos que nela se baseiam, e até agora com excelentes feedbacks.
