In Belgium, automakers quite often limit the amount of power delivered by their various models due to the higher taxes for more powerful cars. It has emerged that to counter this, Porsche offers an entry-level Boxster model with significantly less power than the standard car.

As a matter of fact, the model pumps out just 208 hp compared to the entry-level 261 hp variant offered elsewhere around the globe. While 208 hp sounds like it’d come from the new four-cylinder Porsche is currently developing for the next-generation Boxster and Cayman duo, the car in fact retains the 2.7-litre flat-six of the regular Boxster but it has been significantly detuned.

Despite the large power reductions, this Belgium spec Porsche Boxster still hits 100 km/h in a respectable 6.1 seconds with the PDK transmission and 6.4 with the manual before topping out at 243 or 245 km/h depending on the select gearbox" in 208hp Porsche Boxster Available in Belgium

O que a Porsche Ibérica nos ofereceu recentemente foi a assinatura por um ano da revista Christophorus. Mas aparentemente tem de se ir a um Centro Porsche para a subscrever. Alguém sabe se vale a pena a revista (não conheço os conteúdos da mesma)?
Entrando no teu espírito poderá ser boa para vender... Ou para fazer de lenha (se trouxer o GT3 ou o 918 principalmente). [:D]

Porsche rejects entry-level roadster -- again

PARIS -- After thinking about it long and hard, Porsche has abandoned the idea of building an entry-level roadster."You won't see anything lower than the current Boxster model," said Detlev von Platen, CEO of Porsche Cars North America. "We had many discussions about this in the group, and the decision was made that the time is not right."


Porsche considered a Boxster-based mid-engine roadster named 718, insiders have said. It was aimed to be shorter, lighter and less expensive than the Boxster.


The company has periodically taken a look at an entry roadster over the past three decades, and each time executives reached the same conclusion.
"We're not talking about entry models at Porsche," said von Platen. "Our entry model is our pre-owned program."


He would not discuss the so-called "Ferrari fighter" at the other end of the spectrum, or a four-door smaller than the Panamera, two other ideas said to be circulating within the company.


Of course, Porsche has extended its lineup recently with the Macan midsize crossover that went on sale in May.
So far, it's not only on track, "it is better than on track," von Platen said. "The conquest rate so far is 60 percent, and we expect that to increase when availability is higher."


Macan buyers new to the brand are "younger, with more women than we have seen normally, and they are more urban. So far, it is a very strong launch."
