Parece que no final de 2010 (quiçá em Paris) poderá surgir a versão carrinha do recentemente apresentado em fotos S60.
Denominar-se-ia de V60.

Yesterday we heard news that Ford’s preferred bidder for Volvo, China’s Geely, has ambitious plans to boost the Swedish automaker’s sales to the one million mark within five years and is planning up to three new models in order to do so.

This same week we also saw the new 2010 Volvo S60 sedan in production trim for the first time, which brings us to our latest tidbit of Volvo news--a computer generated rendering of a possible (and likely) V60 wagon.

Based on the same platform as the S60, the new V60 wagon is expected to debut late next year as a 2011 model and follow in the footsteps of previous Volvo wagons like the V40, V50 and V70 lines. It would also serve as a more stylish rival to other premium wagons like the BMW 3-Series Touring, Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate, Audi A4 Avant and the upcoming Acura TSX Sport Wagon.

Powertrain options will almost certainly be shared with the S60. One option is likely to be a new 1.6-liter gasoline unit with turbocharging and direct-injection technologies--a spinoff of a Ford EcoBoost mill.

Previewed in concept form, the tiny engine develops a peak output of 180 horsepower and a fuel economy rating of 47 mpg. Drive will be sent to the front wheels via Volvo's PowerShift 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, and an all-wheel drive variant should also be available.

Take a look at Peugeot’s new baby coupé! Auto Express has learned that the Lion is getting ready to roar into the small sports car market with this sensational 2+2, which boasts Ferrari style at an affordable price tag.

The newcomer will sit below the eagerly awaited 308 RC Z, which is due in the spring, and is part of a plan for the firm to place its sporting focus on coupés, following its decision to step out of the hot hatch arena. And this baby coupé is set to be an even bigger hit than the 205 GTi, going into battle with a head-turning line-up of forthcoming stylish-but-affordable models from Ford, Honda and MINI.

As you can see from our pictures – which give you the best idea of how the newcomer will look – it’s every bit as stunning as its RC Z bigger brother. What’s more, it marks a new design direction for Peugeot.

The front-engine, 2+2 layout creates a rakish bonnet and muscular rear haunches, while the swept back headlights and ‘double-bubble’ roof , which also appears on the futuristic BB1 concept, are both borrowed from the RC Z. But it’s the updated nose that will really get people talking.

Sources have revealed that Jean-Pierre Ploue, head of design at PSA Peugeot Citroen, has some radical styling ideas on the drawing board, and the dramatic one-piece front grille with a floating badge – much like the current crop of Ferraris – is a big part of it. Expect to see this new look, which takes over from the current split grille arrangement, introduced across the range over the coming years.

The new coupé sits on a front-wheel-drive platform from the next-generation Peugeot 207, which is due in 2011. It will be a more practical and driver-focused alternative to the coupé-cabrio variant, thanks to its larger rear seats and bigger boot. Expect a flagship model to boast the same 208bhp 1.6-litre turbo engine as the MINI JCW.

At the moment, Peugeot bosses are tight-lipped about the coupé, although a company spokesman told us: “We are looking at niche markets in which we are not currently represented.

“These will have sales volumes that allow us to make a profit. That’s where the RC Z and the 5008 people came from. We’ll certainly be replacing the 407 Coupé in time, and a new version is likely to be much more sporty.”


The competitors

Small coupés are big news! You don’t need big engines and a huge price tag to have fun, which is why pint-sized sports cars are making a comeback.

Take a look at this rash of new talent being readied by major manufacturers. Sporty hybrids, roadsters and more traditional small coupés are all on their way, offering customers low running costs with the thrills of models higher up in the range.

* MINI Coupe

The exciting Coupé concept manages to blend styling cues from the past, present and future. And with a 208bhp engine from the JCW, the two-seater should be quick, too.

With that neat floating roof and a stunning but practical cabin that offers 250 litres of boot space, the Coupé is set to be a big hit when it arrives in 2011.

* Prius Coupe

Inspired by the much-missed MR2, Toyota’s new hybrid coupé ticks all the right boxes; 0-60mph in seven seconds, 60mpg and emissions below 100g/km thanks to a specially developed version of the Prius’s Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain.

Add in rear-wheel drive and a paddleshift gearbox, and it’s a recipe for a fun yet frugal experience.

* Honda CR-Z

It’s no stranger to hybrids, but this is the first time Honda has packed the technology into a desirable bodystyle. The CR-Z’s petrol-electric drivetrain features a 1.5-litre engine working with an electric motor to produce 130bhp and a top speed of 120mph.

Affordable, good looking and fast, the CR-Z is the sports car hybrid fans have been waiting for – and it arrives next summer.

* Nissan 200SX

Mazda’s MX-5 is squarely in Nissan’s sights, with this baby brother to the 370Z due in 2011.

The two-seater promises exhilarating pace from its 200bhp 1.6-litre turbo engine and is set to be a spiritual successor to the legendary 200SX – the definitive model for cheap rear-wheel-drive thrills, which left the line-up in 1998.

* Ford Puma

Production of the original Puma ended in 2001, and we’ve been crying out for a replacement ever since. With its superb handling and affordable price tag, it built a loyal fanbase.

Borrowing styling cues from the Fiesta and featuring powerful but frugal EcoBoost turbo engines, the new Puma should be ready to pounce by 2012.

Opel Ampera Crossover?

The secret’s out. Auto Express can reveal Vauxhall plans for a practical new family car based on the technology that underpins the petrol-electric Ampera.
Development of the Nissan Qashqai rival has already begun. And it’s seen as key, as parent company General Motors seeks to get its future back on track, following its decision not to sell its European arm to Canadian parts firm Magna.

Nick Reilly, new boss of GM Europe, hinted at the existence of the ambitious programme as he visited Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port factory in Cheshire. He admitted: “There will be more than one version of the Ampera.”

Our sources claim the favoured project sees the Ampera’s powerful hybrid drivetrain mated to a practical body. This model would be aimed at the likes of the Qashqai and Ford C-MAX, and would blend a versatile cabin with electric-only running, plus 180mpg economy and a 300-mile range.

Toyota may need to rethink its sports car plans. According to survey results that just came to light in Japan, the Honda CR-Z generated far greater interest among the media and the public at October's 2009 Tokyo Motor Show than Toyota's FT-86 Concept. One of the main reasons given was that the CR-Z is ready for the market and will land in showrooms in Japan by February 2010, while the FT-86 won't appear until late 2011 and potentially will have a revised design.
That's not to say Toyota will scrap its edgy rear-drive FT-86. Far from it. Co-developed with Subaru, the FT-86 will employ a Subaru platform, 2.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine with revised Toyota head unit, and a six-speed manual gearbox from the Impreza. It will also have a Subaru twin brother -- albeit wearing a slightly different body.
The survey results also show that there is a definite and growing market interest in hybrid sports cars along the lines of the CR-Z. Interestingly, Toyota has had one on the drawing board for some time. Spotted circling Germany's Nurburgring way back in 2005, draped in heavy black camouflage, was a hybrid prototype employing a widened MR2 platform.

The Alessandro Volta Concept
At the time, the MR2 prototype was powered by a mid-mounted, 3.3-liter V-6 hybrid driving the rear wheels and electric motors propelling the fronts. And at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, Toyota collaborated with ItalDesign to create the Alessandro Volta concept car, powered by a 3.3-liter hybrid and said to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds. While Toyota dropped the MR2 in 2007 (the car was also known in Japan as the MR-S), rumors of its revival have been heating up recently, with a hybrid version reportedly heading the list.
A rear drive, hybrid-powered sports car with MR2 roots would fit in perfectly with what new Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda has been saying of late. "We want to design cars with more exciting exteriors and handling," he stressed at a recent gathering of Japan's Car of the Year jurors.
To help it tap into what the market really wants, the world's biggest carmaker will create Toyota Marketing Japan Ltd in January next year. No doubt topping the division's to do list will be developing a plan for a CR-Z fighter combining solid performance, high fuel economy and low emissions -- all wrapped up in a excitingly styled body. Calling it MR2 -- a name familiar to enthusiasts around the world -- would seem to be a solid fit, although Prius Coupe could also be a possibility. We should know much more as 2010 unfolds.

You may have heard rumors the next generation Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will be an electric car. Well, they’re true. But before you start writing angry rants in the comments box, read on. According to motortrend, the Evolution XI, due in 2013, will be the best Evo yet.
The vehicle will be powered by a powerful electric motor for propelling the front set of wheels, while the rear set will be powered by a 2.0-liter engine. Combined, the power plants will generate a decent 350hp, which will be able to catapult the car to 60mph in just 4.5 seconds.
The Evo XI will give drivers the option of driving in EV mode, though only for short distances, improving fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions. But it won’t be a namby-pamby eco-warrior. According to our source, the electric motor will be an upgraded version of the 63 hp permanent magnet synchronous motor used in the i-MiEV, and the 2.0 litre MIVEC gas engine is expected to generate around 320 hp. Depending on how Mitsubishi manages the power flow between the two, the Evo XI could effectively have up to 350 hp on tap. The current Evo makes do with a mere 291 hp.
The Evolution XI will also feature the Active Steering and Roll Control Suspension that the company has been working on since 2006. A new electronically controlled Active Yaw Control system will also be integrated.

LAMBORGHINI lançará um pequeno desportivo e um SUV

It seems that all automakers, including the boutique ones, are thinking big for the next decade and are adding models in anticipation of expanding sales.

This time it's Lamborghini, which will be introducing two entirely new models to its lineup, according to a Car and Driver source.

The first will be a V8-powered entry-level sports car positioned below the Gallardo. It won't be the first time that Lamborghini got into the compact sports car segment, back in the 70s and 80s it had the Urraco and its successors, the Silhouette and the Jalpa, which competed against the likes of the Ferrari/Dino 308 GT4 and the Maserati Merak.

The second model will be an SUV - inspired in part by the LM002. Being a VW Group brand, the Lamborghini SUV may come to share a platform with the Porsche Cayenne/VW Touareg, although, as a Lambo, it will have its own distinct style completely separate from those two sibling models.

Acho interessante os rumores de um rival do Audi TT estar na forja. Embora não veja para já muita credibilidade confesso. Penso que neste momento a Saab estará mais preocupada em renovar a gama 9-3 e possivelmente 9-1(9-2?), ou seja, modelos de grande escala de forma a atingirem o número de vendas estipulado pela Spyker, facto em que não se insere um possível "TT".

Jaguar reveals crossover plans

Jaguar is considering giving the green light to a crossover SUV according to well placed sources inside the company.
New boss Adrian Hallmark is firmly behind the plan too. “We need a crossover and we need to stop being a saloon-based company,” he told Autocar at a private dinner last night.
Hallmark also revealed that four-wheel-drive saloons will need to be part of the company's future in order to boost its appeal on the east coast of the US and parts of Europe.
He also confirmed that an estate XF was imminent - the wagon will account for a fifth of the model’s sales - and said that lightweight cars are part of “our future DNA”. That’s likely to add fuel to rumours that the next-gen XF and sports cars will be made from aluminium.
Jaguar Land Rover boss Ralf Speth also revealed that Jaguar’s Castle Bromwich plant was the factory under threat from closure before the decision was made to save it earlier this year. Earlier reports had suggested that the Solihull plant was the most likely to go.

Tens razão.
Desde 2007 que se tem falado na possibilidade da Jaguar vir a ter um SUV, à imagem daquilo que sucede com muitas outras marcas premium. Mas o facto de no mesmo grupo Tata existir a Land Rover/ Range Rover que apenas vende jipes/ SUVs, e evitando a canibalização dentro do mesmo grupo, optou-se pela separação de àguas.

Porém, tem havido muita pressão no sentido da marca oferecer um crossover com linhas mais desportivas e caris mais voltado para o asfalto e, ao que parece, os dirigentes cederam acedendo para isso à plataforma, motores e tecnologia do futuro Range Rover Evoque o que poderá representar uma poupança nos gastos de produção.

A confirmar-se, seria um SUV coupé baseado nos classes A e B. Outras fontes indicam que se posicionará acima do SUV compacto GLK tendo dimensões um pouco abaixo do X6 da BMW.

Alguma imprensa vai dizendo algo sobre a probabilidade do surgimento de um modelo de segmento superior, tal como irá acontecer com a citroën relativamente ao concept Metropolis. Boatos?

Peugeot reprend des forces ; le style de ses voitures est en train de se raffermir, de se revigorer. Il va être temps, pour le constructeur français, de tenter une nouvelle incursion dans le segment des hauts de gamme.


C’est probablement à la future 601 que sera dévolu ce rôle. Basée sur une plateforme de 508, le futur porte drapeau de la marque française adoptera la forme d’un coupé quatre portes.


En terme de motorisation, Auto Bild, qui nous livre par ailleurs ces impressions d’artiste, assure que la version la plus affûtée devrait recevoir une V6 HDi développé avec Ford et qui pourrait développer jusqu’à 275 ch.


Autant le futur haut de gamme Citroën semble particulièrement destiné à la Chine, autant celui de Peugeot semble taillé à la mesure des marchés européens. Si c’est le cas, l’inflexion stratégique que cela représenterait pour le groupe PSA serait nouvelle.

No hay duda de que Peugeot brilla a la hora de fabricar berlinas y coupés de gran tamaño, una verdadera especialidad de la casa francesa. Hasta ahora teníamos al 607, sucesor de otro gran coche el 605. Pero posiblemente el grupo francés nos tenga preparada otra sorpresa para dentro de dos años con un nuevo modelo encuadrado en la misma línea.

Se trata del posible 601, que la gente de AutoBild ha arriesgado a presentar por adelantado. El nuevo modelo sería diseñado sobre la base técnica del 508 cuya plataforma dará vida a una nueva familia de modelos.


La nueva línea de modelos incluirán al acostumbrado wagon, la berlina y la berlina-coupé, junto con un modelo allroad con un despeje del suelo mucho mayor que en el caso del 508 SW Allroad, que se presentará en Frankfurt.

Minha primeira reação: o que tem vindo a este mundo? Em segundo lugar, é primeiro de abril? Em terceiro lugar ... bem, pelo tempo que eu tenho a minha terceira reação,fiquei sem palavras. Os rumores de um veículo BMW Van aparência têm flutuado ao redor por alguns meses e, embora inicialmente o boato pareceu mais futurista do quea última iteração de Jornada nas Estrelas, o ponto mais recentes notícias que a BMWestá realmente considerando um veículo Van-like.
Surpreendentemente, um rumor e uma superfície de processamento, ao mesmo tempo. Última edição de respeitável revista alemã Auto Motor apresenta umarenderização do que rotular como "Van BMW". Coincidentemente, algumas das linhas de design visto no alinhamento de renderização com o último relatório de um isider na BMW Scott27.
A última rumormill bidões que a mini-van BMW é conhecida internamente como FamíliaAdvanced Sports Tourer Atividade. A fonte diz que a idéia é misturar o espaço eflexibilidade de um MPV, a solidez de um SAV com a forma de um modelo de turismo de maior dimensão, mas manter a aparência do carro.

AFAST se diz ser a reencarnação do projeto da BMW RFK que se transformou no 5erBMW Gran Turismo. O carro iria ser construído na plataforma do novo Série 3, quemanterá a arquitetura de tração traseira. No interior, o carro terá um design flexível, com interior adequada e espaço de carga.
Então, aí está ... sem palavras ainda?
Embora eu, pessoalmente abraçados e compreendeu as idéias por trás do 5GT, nestemomento, eu certamente não pode entender nem tentar entender a necessidade de uma carrinha BMW. Sem ter todos os fatos e as pesquisas de mercado, eu possoestar em um ponto cego, mas aqui é a esperança de que a BMW mais uma vezentregar um produto sustentável, apesar de ser uma ... mini-van.

Em sua atualização mensal regular agora, o insider inquieto traz para a frente a ideia de um BMW Série 1 Coupe Gran Sports Sedan. Em primeiro lugar, este é simplesmente um rumor, neste momento uma declaração altamente especulativos, emesmo Scott27 reconhece que alguns dos conceitos discutidos internamente pelaBMW nunca iria fazer após a fase de concepção.
Mas, mesmo assim, encontramos este modelo específico a ser bastante interessantedo ponto de vista do consumidor. A fonte BMW menciona que o mercado dos EUAestá mostrando um aumento da procura de um veículo BMW de quatro portas menores.O 1er Gran Coupe será um automóvel mais desportivo equipado com motores pequenos e utilizando a plataforma de unidade agora famosa tracção traseira.
