Primeiras imagens do MINI Vision Concept

Autohoje - Vision projeta futuro Mini

The third-generation Mini will make its debut at the Los Angeles motor show in November, and will usher in a range of body styles larger than ever.
The car is particularly important because it will be based on a new modular platform that’s key to the success of BMW’s small car programme. Despite this, Mini bosses are adamant that the new car should retain the character and “go kart handling” which have appealed to new Mini buyers over the last 12 years.
Here we look at the secrets behind the 2014 Mini:
New Mini variants
The third-generation of 'new Mini' will kick off with a three-door hatch, codenamed F56, at the LA motor show in November, followed by the five-door hatch (F55). The Mini Cabriolet (F57) has been given the green light for 2015, as has the Clubman Mk2 (F54) which will receive a pair of rear-hinged doors like the BMW i3. The Countryman (F60) and Paceman (F61) are also in the product plan, but there’s no news about how the concepts of these will differ from today’s models. Beyond 2016, an MPV is likely as is a roadster, possibly in the mould of the Mazda MX-5. These would likely take the missing F58 and F59 names in the sequence.
Lightweight construction
The UKL1 platform will be constructed largely from steel. Light weight aluminium and tailored blanks in high strength steel will be used throughout the inner body structure to increase rigidity. Despite this, Mini is remaining tight-lipped on whether the new cars will be lighter than the current models.
Design
BMW responded quickly to the leaked spy-shots revealing an undisguised Mini and just over a month later, unveiled its Vision concept. The Vision’s nose treatment is said to be close to the production model, and the LED ‘ring’ around the headlamps is likely to feature. Mini design boss, Anders Warming said the grille’s styling is closer to the original and the wings are more “curvaceous”. The production rear lights will be slightly larger than those of the current Countryman, but will be smaller than those fitted to the Vision.
Aerodynamics
The aerodynamics of the new Mini hatchback have been optimised in BMW’s state-of-the-art wind tunnel. The facility has played a key role in ensuring it will be the most aerodynamically efficient car to wear the Mini name yet.
Interior
The interior will feature a number of displays, with those relevant for driving placed within view of the driver. Round analogue displays will be positioned behind the steering wheel, but the centrally mounted display will be retained for navigation and other non-essential information. Mini will offer a head-up display for the first time.
Assistance systems
Mini will draw on a new range of assistance systems, which will include full LED headlamps, a self-parking system and a rear parking camera. The current model’s Mini Connected interface will be carried over, but will have more functions.
Powertrain
The engine line-up will centre around a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged engine, which is part of BMW’s new modular engine family. These engines will develop between 120bhp and 190bhp. Cooper S and JCW models are likely to use a four-cylinder version developing between 200 and 280bhp. A Mini source said: “We will have a completely new range of petrol and diesel engines that set new class standards in economy and emissions”.
No hybrid/EV
Despite the advances made in electric propulsion with the BMW i3, no all-electric, hybrid or plug-in hybrid Minis are planned. It is felt such models could confuse the all-electric message of BMW’s electric i brand models. BMW and Mini will look to the most efficient diesel versions to provide a solution for motorists seeking frugality.
Transmission
Most new Mini models will be shipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, but it is expected BMW’s smooth-shifting and efficient eight-speed torque converter automatic will be offered. With such a gearbox, there will be little or no impact on fuel consumption. Four-wheel drive will be an option on some models in the family, but it is likely the system will be restricted to high-performance variants.
UKL1 platform
The platform which will underpin the next-generation of Mini will underpin 15 new models, including at least six Minis. The platform represents a massive investment for BMW, but was necessary to provide the economies of scale required. It is estimated that more than 900,000 UKL1-based cars will be built per year. The platform will provide a number of wheelbase and seat height options, allowing a five-door hatchback variant for the first time. Despite the shared platform, to BMW Group’s design boss says, there will be a marked difference in “how the new Mini steers around a corner”.

The all-new MINI will be officially revealed on November 18, 2013 at the company's factory in Oxford, UK.
This date was chosen as homage to Sir Alexander Arnold Constantine Issigonis (born on November 18, 1906) who was the creator of the original MINI. Within the same week the car will be almost simultaneously showcased at Tokyo Motor Show and Los Angeles Auto Show, before going on sale in the first quarter of next year.
As far as styling is concerned, the 2014 MINI will be longer and wider than the outgoing model and is expected to take some design cues from the Rocketman Concept. Changes compared to its predecessor include a longer hood, slimmer A-pillars and a smaller front grille.
It will have a more traditional interior layout as the speedometer will be on the driver's side. The central area of the dashboard will be home to a big touchscreen display, while several chrome touches for the door handles, speakers and steering wheel will spice up the cabin.
The Cooper S version is rumored to feature a new turbo 1.6-liter gasoline mill with 178 bhp (132 kW), followed by the JCW model with the same engine but tweaked to output around 217 bhp (162 kW).

A frente do carro deverá ser "mergulhante", enquanto o perfil do carro será curvilíneo, o interior do carro deverá beber inspiração no do futurístico Vision Concept.

Oficial - MINI anuncia novos motores
We have seen spy photos of the all-new Mini Cooper. We have been teased about its drivetrain. Now we have the engine details confirmed by BMW.
The next Cooper, which will be officially unveiled at the Oxford factory in November and then at the Los Angeles Auto Show a couple of days later, will come with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine for the base model, and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder for the Cooper S. The base engine produces 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, the plateau of which is reached at just 1,250 rpm. An overboost function allows up to 170 lb-ft for short bursts. The four-banger produces 189 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque (221 lb-ft with overboost). These power figures come thanks to MINI's TwinPower turbocharging and direct injection, technologies that are borrowed from Mini's parent company, BMW. In case you forgot, this is actually the first engine used by Mini sourced from BMW. The first of the reborn Cooper models was powered by a joint-venture engine with Chrysler. The second-generation uses an engine from Peugeot.
A higher-performing package will, of course, accompany the John Cooper Works edition that we're certain will be coming shortly after the new Cooper launches in Spring 2014.
Mini has chosen to hook its new engines to six-speed transmissions, which, contrary to the trend of adding more gears for more efficiency, is the same number of ratios found in the current Cooper. Stop-start will be standard as well. Cooper models equipped with navigation, meanwhile, will get new technology from BMW that can anticipate upcoming downshifts, such as when approaching an intersection or sharp turn.
The new Mini platform benefits from lightweight technologies shared with BMW's new i-series, and it will also be shared by the forthcoming 1 Series GT that was previewed by the Concept Active Tourer. It is the smallest platform in the BMW family. This Mini Cooper, codenamed F56, is the third modern Mini since the first debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 2000.
While this latest Mini design looks to be more evolutionary than revolutionary, perhaps that shouldn't be a surprise. One of the reasons Mini has been able to go seven years in between dances – long by today's standards – is that it is unique in the marketplace and loved by people who don't want it to change much. Also, Mini has certainly kept the showroom fresh with a Paceman, Countryman, Coupe andRoadster.
In any case, Mini USA is doing pretty well for BMW. It will sell about 68,000 Mini models in the States in 2013, which would put the brand up three-percent year over year. That sounds a little meek considering the industry is up 9.6 percent through August, but as we pointed out earlier, the outgoing R56 Cooper is in its seventh year. By the end of 2013 there will be about 500,000 Minis registered in the US – not bad considering the machine was launched in the States by BMW in 2002.
Mini hasn't yet released any information on how it has improved the interior (though we have seen some spy shots), the biggest source of demerits on J.D. Power's Initial Quality Study, which is influential if not always a great measure of a car's real appeal or ownership experience.
Before we let you slog through the press release, we will alert you to look for the translated German regarding the multi-link rear axle and single-link spring-strut axle in the front, a next-generation electronic power steering system, and Mini's first adjustable damping system. Scroll on down for all of the details.
