The Warentest Foundation and the ADAC warn against the Recaro Optia child seats in conjunction with the Recaro SmartClick Base and in front of the Grand Seat of Jané. In the tests carried out by the consumer protection organizations, they released themselves at the frontal crash. Thus there is a high safety risk.
High risk of injury to children and passengers
In the event of a crash, Recaro lifted the seat shell from the Isofix station and flew high through the test lab. In the real accident, the child and the passenger could be seriously injured.
The grand seat of Jané can be installed for children up to 18 kg with Isofix. The Isofix connection did not stand up to the enormous forces at the frontal crash but also stood up and dissolved. The Stiftung Warentest and the ADAC advise against the purchase of these models.
Contact the manufacturer
Already at the joint test last year, a children's dummy including the Optia car seat from Recaro flew forward in the frontal impact. The manufacturer responded and replaced the affected Isofix stations Recaro Fix. However, in the case of the successor model Recaro SmartClick Base, the scenario was repeated.
The Grand Seat of Jané also carries a high safety risk, because the seat also comes loose at the frontal crash. If you have already purchased one of these car seat seats, please contact the provider.
Stiftung Warentest and ADAC have asked both Recaro and Jané to take a position on the serious results. Both can not explain the results and look for the causes. Jané also temporarily stops the delivery of the grand seat to the dealers.
