One-of-a-kind Lindner Nocker Jaguar E-type restored
Lightweight Low Drag E-type crashed back in 1964 and was restored over 4 years and with 7,000 hours of work
The Lindner Nocker E-Type Jaguar was the only one of its kind ever made and it crashed in 1964 at the Montlhery circuit. It has taken the car 47 years to get back on its feet, so to speak.
Jaguar has unveiled the restored model at the Classic Motor Cars workshop in Bridgnorth, Shropshire after a restoration project that took four years and over 7,000 hours of work.
When the car first crashed, a restoration was believed not possible. But the painstaking project headed by Peter Neumark restored the car using more than 90 percent of its original parts.
This Low Drag lightweight E-Type is a one of a kind and only 12 lightweight E-Types in total were ever made between 1963 and 1964. Its restoration is one of the most extensive in the automotive world.

The confirmed production C-X75 isn't even a fraction of it. You'll also no doubt be expecting the small two-seat roadster and coupe for 2013 - let's call them the F-type.
Then there's a small saloon or hatch due in late 2014, a sort of Audi A5 Sportback rival. Again, no great surprise.
The real shock is a crossover SUV. It's not yet fully designed, but there's every intention to build it, from around 2015. Isn't that Land Rover's territory? Well, Jag people think they can do something different - so ignore all those Photoshop renderings washing round the interweb of Evoques with a Jag grille pasted on.
The key is aluminium.
See, Jaguar is planning that all its cars use aluminium bodies, as the XJ and XK do now (the current XF is steel, but that'll change when it's replaced in 2014.) The engineers say their aluminium bodywork saves about 200-300kg per vehicle, once you've accounted for the lighter powertrains and brakes that come with the lighter bodies.
But the XJ/XK platform is too big for the new sports car and compact saloon/hatch. So the company has got to develop a new rear-drive platform to build those cars.
But here's the dilemma. On their own their sales wouldn't be enough to pay for the development and tooling for the new platform. Jaguar needs, in industry jargon, more volume. It wants 200,000 cars a year from the new platform - at the moment it sells just 50k a year all-in. And the SUV ought to give a big slice of that extra volume, in America and China and Russia.
Imagine, a compact crossover with the lightness and agility of aluminium. No-one else is doing that. And won't be before 2015.
So what've we got? Aluminium body styled as only Ian Callum knows how. Engines: four-cylinder 2.2 and 3.0 V6 diesels. For petrols, the choice to go either eco or hi-performance depending what people want by then. They can use the four-cylinder turbo from the Evoque, or a new 3.7 V6 from the F-type, or even a supercharged version of that. Transmission: eight-speed auto. Four-wheel drive. And even a full-hybrid option too, using the system that'll go into the next-gen Range Rover in 2012.
Jaguar even has a 4WD system already in development, to be fitted to the XJ from 2013 to make it an Audi A8 rival in snowy markets. This can be plugged into the new crossover.

As the iconic sports car celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2011, Eagle has thought of a very special way to celebrate the occasion: the one of a kind Eagle Speedster, a roadster models that combines the beauty of the classic E-Type with the company's technical expertise and craftsmanship. The car was commissioned by U.S. collector Rick Velaj, who wanted something "a bit special". Eagle designer Paul Brace penned a sketch, Velaj loved it and the rest came naturally. Everything on the E-Type Speedster is custom made. Like the 1960's Jaguar E-Type, Eagle's car sports classic finishing, with every detail being designed and customized, from the unique shape of the all-aluminum body, adapted from an original body by RS Panels, right through to the custom made windshield glass.
Under the beautifully sculpted body, Eagle engineers mounted an in-house developed 4.7-liter straight-six engine, matched to a five-speed gearbox. The six-cylinder produces 340 lb-ft (460 Nm) of torque and is expected to offers sports car performance numbers to Speedster which tips the scales at just under 1,100 kilograms (2,425 lbs). Handling was also an aspect that Eagle improved by fitting an optimized sports suspension and by widening the wheel track.
The lowered floor pan gives the Speedster a low profile, while also dropping the driver seating position for a sportier feel. The car's elegant lines connect with the cockpit through a "waterfall" console that descends between the two seats and is continued with the center tunnel. The dashboard is pure E-Type, with an aluminum fascia, classic instrument panel and wraparound leather upholstery. The custom-designed aluminum wheels fitted with three-eared wheel spinners are another example of Eagle's attention to details.
The price for this beauty has not yet been disclosed.
Fonte: AutocarJaguar is planning to overhaul its badging to a logical alpha-numeric hierarchy in place of the decades-old XJ-based naming scheme.
“If you know us, you understand our badging. Otherwise it’s confusing,” said boss Adrian Hallmark. Expect to see the first changes in the next couple of years.
Meanwhile, a Jaguar joke doing the rounds at the recent C-X75 press event was the idea of naming the new supercar in the same style as the XJ220, but with a twist.
The ‘220’ was the supercar’s top speed in miles per hour. The C-X75 will have a 205mph top speed. But in kilometres per hour, 205mph translates to XJ330, which sounds a lot faster, even if in reality it isn’t.

To enjoy it fully, though, you should also consider a driver. It's the only way to fully appreciate how enjoyable it is to ride in the backseat of this convertible. Yeah, there's still some wind and considerable noise, but you can't match the view.
2014 Jaguar XFR-S mule spied
We believe this Jaguar XFR is actually a mule for the XFR-S version of the XF. It’s still missing the special body parts that the XFR-S probably will have, but the track looks slightly wider and it’s sporting the same wheels as the XKR-S already. Other things that make us suspicious are the fact that items testing together with the XKR-S Convertible prototype and the sound it produces. There are plenty of normal XFR driving around here at Jaguars test center close to the Nurburgring, and no one is even close to the lovely sound this one serves us.
The throttle response is also very quick when the driver floors it and the only explanation should be that the 550 horsepower strong engine from the XKR-S has been planted under the hood of this XF.
Adrian Hallmark, Jaguars global brand director, has confirmed that Jaguar are working on a project to transfer the XKR-S upgrades to the XFR as well. It seems like the war is on for family supercars like the Audi RS6, the BMW M5 and the Mercedes E63 AMG with Jaguar knocking on the door to the club.
