Alberto Gravaggio (head of Alfa Romeo EMEA) shared some insights regarding the future models, during last week's MY2020 media presentation event in Puglia.
Information interesting enough for 3 separate posts, but we've condensed everything here, each of the 3 photos coming with its own separate declaration from Gravaggio:
1. Regarding the Tonale lights on the current models: "Why did not we put LED lights on Stelvio? The reason is simple: to insert them we would have had to change the style of the headlights, and then modify the family feeling. You have all seen the Tonale in Geneva, therefore you know we are already working on the evolution of the Alfa Romeo style."
2. Regarding the electrification of the range: " FCA has an electrification strategy in place, starting with Fiat, continuing with Jeep and then with Alfa Romeo. Our first plug-in hybrid model will be Tonale, and production is scheduled to start in 2021. It will be followed by the rest of the range and in 2022 by our first electric suv, which will also mark the return of the brand to the B segment."
3. Regarding those infamous leaked Tonale pictures: "The photos released are not of the definitive model. These photos were not intended for public release, but someone has thought to do it in our place, without asking for our authorization. And to tell it all, they were taken during a clinic test we organized in May, and have only been published in October. Think of what has already been done in these months. Tonale is not yet finished, on the contrary..."
